Yes, it’s was my go to album in 2016, I was going through a lot and now I can’t listen to it because I get a wave of overwhelming feelings from 2016 and it’s just too much
So many people are saying in the comments "________ was original? makes me like the song more" or some variation of that. All these songs are original, sampling or interpolation, is still creating a piece of art that is original. Everything takes some shape or form from another thing, art inspires art, music inspires music. Especially with Frank Ocean, these songs are very original and very meaningful. Slowing down a drum sample or rewording a line from a Beatles song doesn't make a song LESS original, it just adds more layers to the meaning of a song. I'm just concerned that people watch these videos and look at a song with less respect because an artist wanted to share ideas from another artist to incorporate into their music. Have a wonderful day
I love Frank Ocean, but I disagree. As someone who writes music, it's definitely one thing to write the music from scratch and another to take someone else's music and then manipulate it.
@@keviiinnnnnnn Yes! What a timely mess haha. I swear I remember hearing that Always was originally intended to be a Frank song but James ended up just keeping it for himself..
Galt's Gooch How? Sampling takes skill, you have to find the sample, be able to cut, match the bpm then be able to find the key in order to actually make it sound like it belongs there, look up people like J Dilla, sampling isn’t as easy as it seems
Galt's Gooch I used to feel that way, but I think of it in a similar way to photography. They are using something that is already there, but put the subject in a new perspective and context. On the surface it seems simple, but it is a tough thing to do really well.
Hayden Kolb Nah, not even an obsession fam. It just comes to you, if you listen to music from different genres long enough, you'll start recognising samples instantly.
damn even the text of the song too...shiiiieeet I wanna know how u do that. I can see that it's hard cuz u have to do it for every song too lol. #Geniusaintshittosamples
i'm pretty sure he sampled "here come the warm jets" by brian eno on the first seconds of pretty sweet, you can hear it way off in the back if you pay close attention
Dude that fact that he's got an interpolation from Elliott Smith makes me love this album even more than I already did which I wasn't sure was possible
The melody of "I, I, I Know you gotta leave, leave, leave Take down some summer time Give up, just tonight, night, night" is taken from somewhere too but I cannot pin point it and it's driving me insane.
I know it’s not really a sample and I’m not sure if it’s 100% true, but you can hear the start of pink and white in a skit that some of the boys from OF did. The skit is called “OF Gets Signed”.

He sounds like GSP form ufc lmfaoooooooo
How does nobody talks about the video editing itself? I'm deeply fascinated by how clean, and accurately constructed it is.
Moozy Yes b. In my opinion for all these videos that shows the samples the transition from the sample to to the the song is high quality
yes
ikr!
Fr
ikrr it's soo good
The close to you sample is beautiful
u know where the anime came from?
Yeah it's from the movie akira
Ben Dover there's an amv with blonde as the music choice if you want to see the video
I would! can you tell me where to find it?
Len Kaupert Got taken down...shame was probably the best amv I've seen
the beatles sample is gold
i didnt even realize it was a beatles sample so when that part played in the video i had to double take from listening to white ferarri so much lol
Dalia Maldonado Thats why Frank likes them lol
Dalia Maldonado youre wrong
miksu that is where you are wrong, my friend.
And the Stevie Wonder one too
Do you ever get so emotional that it becomes difficult to listen to Blonde?
Dipanshu Gupta hell yeah
Yes, it’s was my go to album in 2016, I was going through a lot and now I can’t listen to it because I get a wave of overwhelming feelings from 2016 and it’s just too much

Thank you. Just cuz something doesn’t sample another song or sound mean it’s better than a song that does
For real
its not that deep

He said that The Beatles helped him get out of his bad writers block

@@bmenzella3734 blonded radio, the episode where he plays white ferrari
that last james blake sample "just a sweet word" is from "GodSpeed" not "Seigfried"
It's also james blake sampling frank ocean. Always just came out first
came here to say that
Yeah, it specifically says on James' record that it has an interpolation from Frank
They both worked on it together, James plays the organ on Godspeed
@@keviiinnnnnnn Yes! What a timely mess haha. I swear I remember hearing that Always was originally intended to be a Frank song but James ended up just keeping it for himself..
Now this is how you do samples: Make it subtle and make it your own to tell a heart felt and personal story.
A facebook story
So nights was original? I love the song even more now.
Og Sav I swear the second bit of the song sampled "Optimistic" by sounds of blackness. chords are identical but maybe it wasn't an intentional sample
xjaylist your right the beat is jus more slowed on the album
Galt's Gooch How? Sampling takes skill, you have to find the sample, be able to cut, match the bpm then be able to find the key in order to actually make it sound like it belongs there, look up people like J Dilla, sampling isn’t as easy as it seems
I'm pretty sure the first beat samples life the biggest troll by Gambino

You may be too obsessed with this album if you recognize every sample immediately.
Hayden Kolb Nah, not even an obsession fam. It just comes to you, if you listen to music from different genres long enough, you'll start recognising samples instantly.
That's me
the james blake sample is actually the other way around! james took godspeed and sampled frank on his album! they wrote always together :)
The whole 'Close to You' track was originally written by the Carpenters and that song is beautiful. Stevie's vocoder is heart melting also
AC Based Talkbox. Not a vocoder.
Close To You was actually originally written by Burt Bacharach and covered by The Carpenters
The Stevie wonder sample!
Seigfreid is one of if not my favorite song on the album
So there really aren't any samples on Nights huh? That's insane
Jonas Chisolm there prolly is but it’s hard to find
The car zooming is a sample that’s it though
w g yeah it’s all distorted and pitch shifted guitars which is cool.
listen to 1983 by jimi hendrix @ 2:34 i believe
I think the beat switch may have been sampled from “lost without u “ by Robin Thicke at 2:42
These edits are beautiful man. What are your programs?
ironic how blonde is named when Frank shows his lime colored hair 🍋
Imovie believe it not.

even that sound wave thing that u do in the corner
yep....it'a a separate .mp4 that i picture and picture over the footage. I have to export each layer separately. It's a pain in the ass.
