- Trick or treat! We're trying to prove that it's always spooky season for us, so today Em is bringing us the history of Halloween traditions. Then Christine covers the wild, harrowing and empowering tale of Susan Kuhnhausen. And FWIW (for what it's worth), we think Mondays are out and Cabbage Nights are in... and that's why we drink!

Hello from an overnight worker who looks forward to these episodes each week
OVER TWO HOURS?! 😭🙌🏻 I have been blessed today
Ikr 😂 bring back the 4 hrs episodes!!!
@@hollyfranke9683 ugh I would love that 😭😂
Bam! Episode 301 -- you guys hit the ground running. Better than ever - sometimes I think it doesn't really matter what material you cover, I just enjoy spending this time with you both. :)
30 years old, have never used tiktok 😝 I havent used instagram in a couple years and I rarely look at facebook...sometimes I say idk why but it has something to do with not wanting to deal with any of the negativity it brings me when I see or read things that make me mad, sad, etc.. I think especially since I've found podcasts and UA-cam I prefer spending time on the topics or people that interest me or learning about things. I guess I've enjoyed in person communication much more than on those apps too.
All of the DWM jokes literally had me LOLing. Thanks for keeping me company while I catch up on Sunday chores.
Why am I up at 2am? Idk but here goes another 2 hours and 15 minutes lol 🙌🏼🙃 Much love from South Texas
Oop, time to move to New Zealand
@@carbsandhotsauce for more then just the time 😩 💙
All those Halloween games and treats are not things of the past here in Ireland. They were part of my childhood and still happen today. Although nowadays Barmbrack (Halloween cake) only has a ring in it and is wrapped in baking paper so you shouldn’t accidentally eat it 😆 Yes the apple tied on a string game was so difficult and you’d have to mind your teeth from getting smacked by the swinging apple 😂
Love from 911 dispatch in Arkansas 💙
I was upset about having to wake up early today but listening to a new episode is a great start of the day😁😁
omg em your hair in this is mwah chef’s kiss
I'm from Maryland and every year we have guys come to moviatve our students with respect and to stop bully. Kind of like the program you looked up. And a lot of our kids had signed up over the years bc of it.
Always love your episodes❤️
I can’t see the hedgehog on top of the books without wanting to watch Xandy stream games. I guess this is Xtine declaring her allegiance to the Hogpen!
Y’all this might be my favorite episode yet! The DWM jokes had me rollin this is my favorite story Christine has ever told and Em you are *respectfully* looking supa hot. Thanks for keeping me company in my head for yet another week!
As someone who has had to defend myself in a variety of situations while I do suggest martial arts for some aspects it's really all about fighting hard and dirty when it happens in real life. If you can do a thing, do it. Club them with a book, elbow and heel of hand anything you can, press your thumbs in the corner of their eyes, and definitely fight smarter than harder. This can mean getting so close they can't effectively punch you anymore, going limp, knowing how to use their physical strength against them, and a basic review of 3rd grade geometry. Literally anything but having someone grab you and you go into the pull away ski squat. The second someone touches you after you've been clear to stay back or they surprise you, fight like your life and 30 others depend on it.
I have C-PTSD and I would love it if you did an episode on hyper vigilance. I know it's not a crime but it's often what survivors are left with. Literally sometimes the only thing they're left with as divorce is expensive and your credit after is no joke awful if you don't have much money to start with.
I am also overweight, but not over life.
And I could absoLUTELY see my mother including that phrase in a personal ad for me 😅
Love love love the episodes where people survive
In Denmark (western at least), a Christmas tradition is hiding a single whole almond inside of rice pudding. Whoever gets it has good luck for the next year :)
You make our week, fyi
Royce Gracie, he’s a mixed martial artist.
i am once again up way too late and saving this ep for the morning lol
Lol growing up in that area of VA I remember being younger and feeling like such a bad ass cursing while at the beach 😂🤣😂🤣
34 y/o here. Will never, ever use TikTok
Did you know that Puck from Shakespeare A midsummer night dream is a Puca? That’s how the playwright got the inspiration in creating the character
I did not! It makes sense though. I played Snug the Joiner in highschool.
Oh my god you just unlocked a repressed memory of Frogger
FYI: Willamette is pronounced will-AM-it 😊 Really enjoy hearing stories where women fight off jerks. Great episode!
It's funny how Christine says she's "slow with the connections today" at the same time their internet connection is lagging lol
Hello!
Was that Leona i heard in the background at around 54:13?
Somebody please write a devil and Stingy Jack fanfic 🎃🖤 I'd ship it!
