    I'm really shy and quiet at school. Just last year, most of my friends were going on a school trip France and it seemed such an amazing opportunity. We could see the Eiffel Tower, go Disney Land Paris and even have a tour around Paris. It sounded amazing! The only thing that was keeping me back was my confidence. I wasn't sure if I would be able to cope on a coach for a long time or be around people who I hadn't spoken to before. I felt really worried. When it was time to go I felt so scared and I felt as if I was going to back out of this once in a life time chance. But I coped with my nerves and jumped in at the deep end. I had the best 4 days of my life! I made so many memories with my friends and it was so much fun. I battled my fears and won! I doubted myself at first but I did it. My advice to people who feel isolated from other people and don't feel very confident is to always jump in at the deep end, it may seem scary at first but as soon as you have don't it you will feel great. I know I did and I couldn't of done it without my friends and teachers. My sister was also with me which made it even better. DONT LET SHYNESS AND ANIEXTY STOP YOU FROM GOOD OPPORTUNITIES!!!💕💕💕💕

    Every time I'm scared of doing something I always think to this video. Since I saw it for the first time I started to say yes to a lot of things: I went to Rome with my classmates (although they're not really my friends), I signed up for a Tolstoj course, I signed up for being a guide in a local event and I started to say what I have to say, in classes and with my friends. I was so scared. And I still am. But I'm doing a lot of things...I've so many regrets about the stuff I haven't done in the past. Now I have the opportunity to go to an English university (I'm Italian) and I'm scared as hell, this is the biggest opportunity of my life. But I'm gonna say yes. Maybe I'll fail, but at least I'll be able to say that I had tried.
    I know that probably you won't never read this, but I really want to thank you for -seriously- having changed my outlook of life. 😊😊

    I have been offered the chance to go and do some charity work in Peru next year for a month, which is normally something I would be way too scared to do as my anxiety holds me back a lot, but I decided to say yes and I am currently raising money to go, so I am really pleased with myself and I know it's going to be a life changing experience!

    Recently I said YES to a BIG opportunity that would change everything in my life so far! I got accepted to a Disney program in which I have to move to Florida (I live in Costa Rica) and have to shared an apartment, meet new people, talk in a different language, study, work, be apart from my family for 6 months; and let's be honest its really scary but I want to make a difference in my life so I said YES!
    Don't be afraid of doing things, enjoy life! Hakuna Matata! :)

    When I'm asked to go out with my sister (or friends) to go shopping, I become really really nervous. I know this sounds like a normal thing to be nervous about, but I'm scared to go out because of creepy people. But if I see someone lurking near me I instantly begin to panic. I kind of yell at my friends or sisters to leave even if we only just got there and it really really frustrates me. Nothing bad has happened apart from one time where I went to the park near me with a few of my friends and we were on the swings and a man walked past us and we went to leave and he spun around and began following us. Now I get anxious at the thought of going places without my parents. I told my mum and all she said was to "Get my big girl pants on" but its incredibly hard and I'm 14. Please help.

    • @xSamanthaalove
      @xSamanthaalove 9 років тому +5

      i think because what happend with that man one day made you feel so anxious that now everytime something simulair happens you start to panic. just think to yourself that the chances of it happening again are waaay smaller than the chances of it happening. made tell your friends/about it so they know how you feel and they can help calm you down 💕

I've been depressed before, started cutting, had social anxieties, started became rebellious and defiancy happened. I took a 10 day trip on my own to visit college friends on the other side of the country. I had flown on my own to get to and from college, but I had not been in a big city on a vacation with just my friends before. The biggest thing was I went to a three day music festival (which was the main reason for planning the trip) and crowds around concert can make me incredibly anxious. And I didn't think about it when we made the plans, I just agreed. And I was fine for (almost) the entire trip. It was an incredible experience and I'm so glad I got to go explore new cities with some of my best friends in the world.

    I know this video was published like 3 years ago and you won't read this but I need to write it.
    I remember when I watched it on August 2015 (year ago) when I didn't know what to do with my life and I had really really low self esteem because I was bullied. I wanted to come back to school of music (which I left few years ago) and I wanted to do something that makes me happy and gives me confidence that I didn't have - music is one of these things. However, I didn't know if coming back to school of music is a good idea, and I couldn't decide what should I do, I was so scared of failing and that was awful.
    And then I discovered this video and after watching it i thought that I should try, even though I can fail. Right now I'm back in school of music, I'm a lot more confident and right now I'm just a happier person and I discovered that risking is okay and saying "yes" to new things is great.
    I just wanted to say thanks because this video helped me soooo much and if someone is reading this and feels the same thing as I felt - whatever it is, it's worth risking and trying. Thank you Zoe, love you.

    I suffer from flying anxiety. Last year I was invited to go to Hawaii with my family and almost declined because of the 9 hour flight. This video gave me the confidence to say "yes" and I ended up having an amazing time. I am now re-watching because I recently agreed to visit my sister in Denmark and now, two weeks out, I'm starting to have nightmares about the long flight. I appreciate having this video available to remind me to never miss out on life experiences because of fear. I'm far too old to participate in something like NCS, but sometimes even us grown-ups need to be reminded to have faith and live a little. Thank you.

    I've always been really quiet and shy and I panicked when I would have to talk to people that I didn't know. But I decided that it was an unhealthy way to live, so I started trying to speak and do things even when it terrified me. I would raise my hand more in class and everything. There were groups of kids who would bully me constantly, and I finally stood up to them. Of course they didn't stop bullying me but everyone else respected me more, It didn't all turn out good but it made a big impact on my school life and it made me happier. I enjoyed going to school more, I mean as much as someone can. But I battled against these things I was scared of, I was scared of being judged or scared of doing or saying something wrong. I still have trouble, A LOT of trouble with this. But I try to speak up more and it really helps.

    Re-watched this video today because my anxiety seems to be getting worse, including my claustrophobia. I think a lot of it is to do with my tendency to avoid things and say no to doing things so I never force myself to face them. I'm trying though, I get in lifts more often now unless they are full and I've said yes to going to a party where I don't really know many people. Wish me luck! xx

    Thank you Zoe!! This has helped me in so many ways. I live with my boyfriend of 3 years and he doesn't like to do anything social from dinner with my parents to going on holidays, or even going to the cinema. He does little things occasionally but it is very rare for him to say yes to anything. He suffers slight anxiety and I think he needs to watch your video which I will show to him. I don't push him to do things he doesn't want to do, but that doesn't mean it doesn't upset me. I can never really do anything fun WITH him so I had to start doing things on my own recently (because yes, we only do live once) and saying yes to my family to go on holidays with them and other little things. When I do say yes to big things like holidays without him I feel guilty and sad because I'm leaving him alone for possibly weeks at a time and I can see that it hurts him so it makes me very sad to feel this way and it is partly the reason I say no to so much stuff.
    If he would just come with me everything would be fine but he just won't for some reason :( all he ever says is that he doesn't want to go. But I know there has to be something more there. Like his anxiety.. but when we are in public he isn't shy, nervous or he doesn't struggle to make conversation with anyway so its really difficult to put my figure on it.. anyway, I just wanna say a massive thank you because your video helped me say yes to alot more things but I still feel guilty for leaving him behind on many things that I do so that's the next step.

    Thank you so much for this video! I've watched it multiple times when I feel like giving up and not saying yes to amazing opportunities. But one question...how do you deal with life when your closest friends are now bringing you down? I've been friends with this girl and all throughout the two years we've been friends, I continuously stood up for her and helped her through tough times, but when it comes time to help me...she's nowhere to be seen. She's said many hurtful things and never sincerely apologized for them and then she expects me to be okay with forgiving her in a snap. She's always excluding me when our our friends are present, but the moment she's lonely...she's bugging me. She claims to be a truthful friends but I also notice that she always creates misunderstandings between our other friends. I don't want to be rude and stop talking to her completely, but I'm also not sure how much more I can handle of this. I feel like our friendship is a one way street. Any suggestions?

    • @jessicalong2886
      @jessicalong2886 9 років тому

      I always feel like I'm the only one putting in the time and effort with some of my friends and sometimes it's a total downer. I don't mind organising, making plans and being there for them so long as they make me feel like I'm worth it and cherished. My suggestion is to surround yourself with your other friends that do make u laugh and smile. When she excludes you, talk to another friend and when she comes running back to you be patient but also don't give her everything she wants. She can't have you on a shelf ready to grab you whenever she wants. When you have so many other friends that are supportive it won't bother you so much that one friend isn't as good to you as the others are. Don't exclude her or block her out but if you're having trouble do something about it ️xx

    I watched this before a volleyball match i had. I was unbelievably nervous and used to have extremely bad anxiety along with other things. The last match i played was nationals a year and a half ago where i got so nervous i had to run off court and started retching in the toilets.
    The dreaded match day arrived and i was asked to serve because i have the strongest serve. I said yes and eventhough i was shaking and thought i was going to be sick i stayed on court and didnt let anxiety win.
    From now on I will be writing down everytime i say yes and believe in myself.
    You may not read this but I hope you know how much this video is helping people.

I know it seems like everybody is so confident. You just have to give yourself permission to be sensitive and quiet. We need sensitive people too in the world ;)

      Omg I am the same! This is personal for me to write but I know it will help you 😃 I was bullied from nursery until year 3! The bullying stopped for 1 year and it started again in year 5 I went through to year 6 and my life was fine😃 I had one friend and it was really hard when she had days off because I was walking around alone😭 I moved into high school and it was a very overwhelming time for me and I had the worst first 6months of my life! The bullying got worse and I developed anxiety😭I moved school and I think because I was new I got bullied for the first week so people could like see how I would cope and things😔😳but then I made my first friend at my new school of course we have our ups and downs and we are getting closer and closer! I am now in year 9 and I have ,add more friends and. Now have aboyfriend😃 I still have anxiety and panic attacks until this day but it is under control now and I'm just enjoying life😀 lets just stay positive and think what gets us in the future😃

      @xalexflanaganx 9 років тому

      I know exactly how you feel. I'm really shy at school and tbh I don't have many friends either. It doesn't matter how many friends you have though. As long as they are good friends that you can trust is the main thing. If anyone is mean to you and you go home feeling sensitive, just brush the badness off yourself. Live for today, forget yesterday and be prepared for tomorrow. At the end of the day, it didn't matter what people think of you as long as you feel great about yourself is the main thing. Talk to someone about your feelings eg parents, good friends or even school teachers. Just don't listen to what people say as their opinions don't matter at all and I'm sure they're all wrong anyway! Stay strong💓💕

      Same here ! :D Last year, I asked my parent if I could fly to Japan (I'm from Taiwan) to see NEWS's (a Japanese boy band ) concert. To my surprise, they AGREED !
      At first,I thought that they're never gonna let me go,especially I was only 16,which they think it might be too dangerous for a 16-year-old girl to fly and travel alone. It cost me quite a long time to persuade them,however,I'm glad that I had say 'yes' to myself and had tried my best to let them say 'yes'.
      It had been the greatest and the most unforgettable time of my life~ :)

    If anyone here has anxiety, here's a tip when it happens,blow on your thumb, it has nerves that connect with your heart rate, this sends a message to your heart to slow your heart rate down because when you have anxiety the main cause is your heart rate speeds up quite a bit. Ur welcome if this helped anyone...I have anxiety too, and it worked for me and i looked it up.

I should say yes, not chicken out and watch my little cousins have fun and get scared out of their minds, because why not? They were made for the thrill. I also dream to speak my mind more, bc whenever a compliment or something nice or deep I want to say to a friend, I'll get afraid at the last moment and not want mushy gushy hugs or even worse, what if I get ignored? I should say yes, and I will, because why not :)

    Hi Zoe its me again,
    You probably never read my first comment on this video but I thought I would put something on here. A year ago I put something on hear about being self conscious and that I didn't have panic attacks or anxiety. 7 months ago I had my first panic attack. Where I cried and I had a break down while shaking. That's when I knew that my self consciousness was down to anxiety.
    Today I got invited to a party ( a small get together at her house) and I was going to reply no because I was scared that I would get in the way or that they didn't really want me there and as I was replying saying no I thought "Just say Yes." I should grab the opportunity to make new friends and I did. I said Yes (which is nowadays something I do rarely) so thank you for everything even though i get scared you remind me I'm strong and not everything is worth worrying.
    Lauren x

    I have two problems.
    My friends want to go to a nightclub and I'm scarred because of my panic attacks. I went the first time and I had a serious panic attack. It was so crowded and I was so nervous. I lived 30 minutes away so my mum took a while to get me. Half an hour seems forever when your having a panic attack haha. But I did it! But the thing is they want to go again on the 28th help me. I'm so stuck and I wanna say yes but I don't want to put myself through it again.
    And also we have to go on a plane to liverpool to see my brother over there in university. I'm so nervous and I think I may have a panic attack on the plane. I'm sick of it but. But I know in my heart I can go. But it's the panic attacks that are holding me back. I hate panic attacks. You don't even know some of amazing opportunities I had to turn down because of panic attacks. Ugh. I need advice. This video did help a lot but. Thanks Zoe!xx

      firstly, i just want to say well done on saying yes to it the first time, i know it must have been really hard(i have anxiety and panic attacks too). what i would say is that please dont feel as though you have to go and do this, because you dont, if its not something that you really want or have to do. however, i think its great to push yourself and do things that are out of your comfort zone, but seriously, you do not by any means have to go again if you really dont want to, maybe in the future if you feel more confident then you could give it a go :) stay strong, beautiful xx

    I've had the biggest struggle with anxiety for probably 2 months and I've tried so many things like talking to doctors, friends, and family. But nothing has helped me really. I noticed that I usually end up watching this video or zoella's anxiety videos so I don't feel so alone and its like a reminder that I have to change myself or it wont work. I'm still struggling but I'm trying my best everyday to keep moving forward. So thank you very much

    Amen sister! Age 24 to 26 I spent two years on a solo bicycle trip doing a big circle around the US. California to Florida to Newfoundland to British Columbia and back to Cali. My motto was to "say to yes to everything". Needless to say, that massive "yes" experience completely shaped the person who I am today. One of the yes's on that adventure was adopting a tuxedo kitten with a pink noise in Alberta from some professional downhill speed-board athletes. I named him Meowzer, and we pedaled together over the Canadian Rocky Mountains in snowy December of all months!!.. If Yes was in a race against No, you know who I'd put my money down for ;) meow
