One of my favorite songs ever. I prefer the demo, probably because that's the version I grew up listening to, but both versions are great. I wish there was some live footage of them playing this back in the day.
Much more of a rock song in this version. I like the rawness of it. I still think the album version is my favorite. It just captures the feel of someone sitting alone by the radio late at night. They did a great job with it live when I saw them a few years ago.
I've played this numerous times since I found it. Always loved that song but this version just kicks it into overdrive. One of the best demos I've ever heard!
God I love this version so much more. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the album version. Great in and of itself, but this just has a whole different feel to it that hits me on a different level. The emotion is just as raw as the recording itself, and as someone else mentioned, that guitar solo is just killer. I’m not sure what the lineup was at the time of this recording, and how much it changed by the time of the first album, but they really captured something special here. Ever since I first heard this version some time in the mid 90’s, I can barely even sit through the album version.

@pappysmp I got it from the Rhino records comp "D.I.Y. - We're Desperate: The L.A. Scene (1976-1979)"
Great comp....really great bands like x and the germs on there...

The demo version is waaaaaay better! Martha Davis sings with more raw emotion, plus there's a face melting guitar solo to boot!
Bahiyyih Mitchell came here right from Spotify cos it’s not on there. Exactly.
Love this song! Thanks for posting!!
A 1976 demo from The Motels... just in UA-cam!
Seed of the 80s ... ... ... ...
Certainly different, but kinda cool.
my life exactly.....
