I found it impossible to find a video so well explained in so much detail until I found this video! Top tutorial 👍. Subbed and liked, cheers from Australia
So I'm no expert, obviously. I'm here because I searched for EMI filters and am checking my own understanding of the subject. One thing I am aware of is that the cores used for filters and chokes are different than the ones used for transformers and other inductors. The formula used for the filter cores has a much lower permiability. This is done because the purpose of the filter device is to dampen spikes or differences between the two coils. A regular inductor with a higher permiability will tend to transfer more of the noise from one line to the other. The filter core is formulated to reduce noise, not conduct it. BTW as a native English speaker I understood you fairly well. One tip though. Look up the word "story" and the word "store." You sound funny saying that one. It is no big deal. Those words are just totally unrelated. We would also refer to a coil of wire as a winding. The word looks like "wind." There are two meanings for wind. The most common definition is related to weather like, the wind blows in the rain. This is pronounced like wh-end. In electronics, when a wire passes through something like a core, we might call it a winding or windings. This word is pronounced like why-nd-ing. One subtle/small thing to note about these words, you would never say winding (wh-end-ing) in reference to the weather. Likewise, you shouldn't use the word wind (why-nd) to refer to a coil of wire. Technically you will hear people use the word wind of wire occasionally, but this is bad English. It should be called a "coil" of wire. The last issue with the word wind in electronics is, when you make an inductor with a wire and core, the act of wrapping the wire would be "to wind" (why-nd). Let me give you an example that uses most of our common terms in English: The weather is bad today. It is raining and the wind (wh-end) is blowing. Inside the electronics lab we are working with inductors. The class should have a transformer core, and a "coil" of wire in front of them. Our first step is >to< wind (why-nd) the core with wire. Our transformer design calls for 10 "turns" of wire through the core.... ..... ...Now that you have "wound" [this is the past tense word for "to wind" (why-nd)] ...your inductors you should have around half of the original "coil" of wire leftover .... ... Anyways, hopefully that helps. I know English has a lot of stupid words like this that are poorly defined. Don't let that hold you back from posting content though. I still understood most of what you said. I'm not writing all of this to discourage you. This is just the kind of info I would want to know if I were doing the same thing in another language. I subscribed :-) Thanks for the upload. -Jake
Don't be shy to say his English is very very bad. You wrote a long STORY, spent too much time to tell him that he is making fatal mistakes while talking English. This guy has simply no clue of English and should stop.

There are calculators for these ................frequeny calculation series inductance /parallel capacitors ...............also note the current demand , for 1A /230 volt up to 10A /230 volt or more . Enough material on the web to serve as an example and to understand, but you can simply buy them !!!
I have all these components on the primary side of my power supply but it still produces noise. I have a portable FM radio with a small antenna which I use to trace interference. I waived it over the PS and I found that noise spread is ~5 feet in radius, more intense(ticking noise) on the transformer. Switching freq of chip is 240khz, so why am I getting noise in the FM band(mhz)? and why don't the filtering in the primary side work? PS is connected to a resistive load and noise increases if I increase load draw.
a bleeder resistor for discharging capacitor c1 to a safe voltage in safe time span is required by electrical regulations. c1 also has to be x rated, while c2 and c3 has to be y rated. a MOV rated to 230v×√2×1.25 parallell to c1 to suck up voltage transient wont hurt either, while if you want to put MOVs in parallell to c2 and c3 they need a gas discharge tube in series for regulatory reasons - which limits their usefulness. a varactor in series with the MOV can decrease leakage current and increase product lifespan.
These are typical values of EMI filters. He didn't calculate anything. He just copied the schematic and the component values of the filter he opened. Usually this information is printed on the case of the filter. Hopefully this helps you.
from my experience, if you buy something from china, just divide it to two. you need 6 Amp buy 12 Amp. never believe that they write, its china, another culture we with European culture constantly fall into this trap. if you understand my english
@@ДмитрийХодаковский-е3б you are absolutely correct, and your english is more than adequate. Most of the Chinese electronics i have torn down for years now have been complete garbage. I see materials and build quality that are just barely enough to not burst immediately in to flames.... Even then a slow over current or high enough inrush current usually results in a blown fuse at best and a chinese fireworks display plus fire at worst.
Best explanation. There is no video of EMI FILTER available in UA-cam except this master piece. Really clear explanation🎉

How to calculate the value of the inductor and capacitor use for EMI filter
that is the golden question in emi filtering

It’s common mode choke with y caps. If leakage inductance is not big enough, you may need differential coke with x cap in this circuit.

is this effective on humming noise from audio equipment

Sir, what does it basically do ?
I need to decide it's classification in customs tariff.

handy used packaging for projects , works for DC as well.

How you provide values of Inductors Capacitors ?
These values are usually typical. You can use the values you see in the schematic.
