      I’m 100% from planet Earth. But my mom said that my dad was a spaceman who looks like David Hasselhoff. And one day he will return to take me with him and we will travel the stars. Until then, I just want to make motorcycle videos for people like you and me.

    In regards to the front brakes, I found them quite grabby and still, occasionally take some break dives when I squeeze too hard. They are plenty effective for my liking. If anything, the rear brake could use a little more muscle, but that is nitpicking. As for the throttle - not an issue an at all for me. Seems very smooth and connected to what I want to do. The guys at Yammie Noob were going on and on about it, so that is really puzzling to me. My complaints are that the bike runs hot around the ankles in hot weather, and I have been waiting for OEM parts for months now. Also, the fly screen in front of the clock should be standard because without it, the bike looks unfinished.

    • @jrobrides1340
      @jrobrides1340  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah. I think my issue with the brakes was 100% due to the levers. I also only notice the throttle when turning from a stop, and it probably has more to do with me just being too careful in that situation. Haven't noticed any heat issues, but I'm coming from a Harley that literally felt like my pants were burning and it melted parts of my boots! I'm waiting on Dart to finish up their screens for the same reason. Just doesn't look right without something on the front.

    How to explain the smooth throttle application: Good fueling. If you want lots of power at takeoff, all you gotta do is pull back the throttle and dump the clutch. The jerky fueling that newbie reviewers think is "torquey" when they touch the throttle and the bike lurches ahead is just poorly executed engineering. If they knew how to ride, they would find that exceedingly irritating.

    • @jrobrides1340
      @jrobrides1340  3 роки тому +1

      That's a really good way to put it. There's something about the throttle that feels different and I think that throws people off. But it also feels deliberate. This was done for a purpose... to be smooth and easy even for a new rider.

    • @saddle8bag
      @saddle8bag 3 роки тому +2

      @@jrobrides1340 I agree, but it has nothing to do with new riders. I've been riding since tires were made of stone and still hate the poor fueling on most Japanese machines, particularly in "sport" mode.
      When I'm trying to go thru a set of bends smoothly & quickly, nothing slows me down more than a jerky off/on throttle fueling discombobulating the chassis.
      I watched you take off when you started talking about it and it seemed pretty silky and seamless to me. The way bikes used to run when they were carbureted.

    Love my Trident but unfortunately not running and in the shop. Plenty of peeps out there with mechanical issues. I had the dealer add a quickshifter and then the issues started. Been in the shop for two weeks. Threw three codes and parts on order. Coolent temp sensor which plenty of other folks have seen.

    • @jrobrides1340
      @jrobrides1340  3 роки тому

      I'm sorry to hear that. I'm a bit paranoid about the coolant issue after hearing a couple of horror stories. I've also seen a few reports of the kickstand bending. Makes me wonder if QC is slipping as Triumph tries to keep up with demand.

    Enjoyed your video, but never heard you once talk about the road mode.
    Sounds like you still have it in rain mode, which is a good idea when you are running in.
    Once I had my first service done I switched over to the road mode.
    Makes a difference for sure.

    • @jrobrides1340
      @jrobrides1340  3 роки тому

      I’ve been in road mode the whole time have yet to try rain mode. I did hear that after running in there is a bigger difference between the two. Almost as if the bike has a different map for running in that is similar to rain mode. Have yet to confirm that. The bike defaults to road mode every time the ignition is turned on, so did you switch it to rain every time you started the bike during the running in?

    • @pauldawson2956
      @pauldawson2956 3 роки тому +1

      @@jrobrides1340 mine was set up by the dealer to start up in the rain mode every time. But you could manually change over.
      Another trick they threw in was after 600 km you could increase your revs from 4 to 6,000 rpm without the tacho flashing. Good idea for running in. I stuck to the limits for the first 1000 km. Now I ride it reasonably hard and don't have any problems with response at all.
      Have a lot of great twisty roads around were i live and ride with a bunch of guys once a week who don't muck around. Slowly getting the confidence to trying to keep up and working that chicken line out to the edge.
      Happy riding

      I'm sure it will. I know in some countries the bikes are downsized in power for regulation reasons. Not saying that's your case but I live in Thailand and purchased my bike only 60 km from where it was built.
      I know there are no restrictions here because the Thais love going fast.
      Anyway enjoy the bike.

    One thing I "dislike" about the Trident? The seat. Feels like a wooden plank.
    However, I realize it's mostly me, as I have a pretty boney butt.
    Trying to find a comfortable motorcycle that isn't a cruiser seems to be a lost cause.
    Even a lot of cruisers aren't comfy, unless it's a touring bike.

    What's particularly disappointing about the Trident is that they could have easily added an extra ride mode where in the throttle response is instant. Beginner riders would then be able to use the more aggressive mode as their skills progressed. I have a 2017 SV650 which has a snappy throttle like the MT07. I hated it at first but now I prefer the quick response. Doing slow turns bothered me at first but I just friction zone the clutch when I need to. But as for the Trident's slow throttle response, someone will probably come out with an ECU flash to make it more instant.

    • @jrobrides1340
      @jrobrides1340  3 роки тому

      I would guess that the throttle response was deliberately done so that riders don't have to feather the clutch during slow turns. However, you make a really good point. This could easily be a bike you could grow with! Instead of "rain" and "road" you could have "beginner", "intermediate", and "advanced" modes. I'm hoping that as it is the throttle is something that gets better as the bike breaks in or gets less noticeable as riders get used to it.

    Surely the elephant in the room is it's shocking resistance to corrosion? I can't be the only one in the world that rides in the rain sometimes. The rear shock looks about ready for the bin (2,500 miles ridden) and the enamelling is coming away from the fork legs. Warranty claim incoming.... we wouldn't accept this on a car, why is it seen as 'just one of those things' on a bike?

    Anyone else finding it near impossible to find neutral while the bike is running? Other dislike so far is the clunking when shifting gears. Tried adjustable levers, adjusting the tension, and making sure oil is full. Nothing has worked yet.

    • @jrobrides1340
      @jrobrides1340  2 роки тому +1

      I struggled with finding neutral until I went up a couple of clicks on the adjustable lever. Shifting is definitely a bit clunky for a sport bike, but nowhere near as bad as a Harley or BMW. It does get smoother as the bike breaks in and after a the first couple of oil changes.

    I wonder whether the footrest brackets are alloy to avoid the risk of your boots rubbing off the paint? How tough is powder coat compared to a metal finish?

    • @jrobrides1340
      @jrobrides1340  3 роки тому

      That's a possibility. Powder coat is very durable, but does add to cost. Even the Street Triple as metal finish foot rest, so you might be right. Still looks weird imho.

    How did you mount the quad lock in the centre of your handlebar?

    • @jrobrides1340
      @jrobrides1340  3 роки тому +2

      I got the handlebar mounting kit. It came with three spacers. The thinnest spacer allowed the quadlock to be mounted on the thickest part of the bar close enough to the middle that I could turn the mount 90 degrees and got it to hang over the middle of the yolk. The stem mount kit will also work, but requires modification of the mount and removal of the handlebar to fit. This seemed the easier way.

    My Trident is exactly the same as yours. My only problem is the pins and needles in my right hand after riding for about 20mins. I tried adding the puppies and turned a bit the handle bar but I still feel the pins n needles.

      That’s not good. I get that a bit when I catch myself gripping too tightly. Maybe there’s a medical or physical therapy solution? I sold my Street Twin after I started getting shooting pain in my left wrist every time I would ride. But sometimes I wonder if I should have looked more into fixing my wrist instead.

      @@jrobrides1340 I've heard the same from other people. It must be related to the triple. I'm looking into it. If I manage to resolve it, I will let you know. So far I've done a1000 km, my running in. We'll see. I also ride a Rebel and I don't get the pins n needles on it.

      Relax your grip. It truly is that simple. It take some
      Conscious effort. I’d be will to bet that if you check in with your grip while riding you’ll be able to release the death grip and notice. Difference. This is a habit I’ve discovered. The bike is as smooth as they get in my opinion.

    Throttle comment is spot on. It’s terrible IMO. It lags and also hangs. It’s a deal breaker for me and I will be selling mine for that reason once the MT-09 gets to our shores. My FZ-07 was instant response, the Trident is just bad. Also, i have the QS and it’s very jerky and not smooth. The rear fender is also hideous. The engine is a gem although I am constantly hitting the rev limiter.
