Chest mount is the way to go as a skier. Given you’re snowboarding I understand you missed that in your video but chesty for skiing makes a huge difference! It captures your hands and ski tips, makes the viewer experience your true POV with some reference.
I used a chest mount but in the editing the footage didn’t turn out too great. Due to my bad posture all the videos were recording the ground! So I much rather prefer the helmet mount
Thanks for the video. I switched from the head mount camera to chest mount. I find head mount video is hard on the stomach to watch because the head is always moving but your chest is almost always stable and pointing in the direction you're skiing in.
Yeah. A few minutes showing how to carry/position a selfie-stick for different shots would be helpful. Is having a wide-angle lens on your camera a must?
I bought a Ruroc helmet and attached a chin mount, it gives by far the best looking video. Haven't used it for snowboarding but I tried it on a longboard and it's way better than a helmet mount.
Does the head strap mount ever come off when you have a really bad wipe out my I have been going in really thick powder and I don’t want my camera to get lost
I'm in the market for a selfie pole for skiing, what length would you recommend? Choice is 24'' or 48''. I'd like as compact as possible but don't want to miss out on half the shot!
Hey man, just found ur channel cool vids! Subbed :). I recently bought a hero 7 silver (before the 8 came out) because it seemed a great starting option and because of my budget. Would a karma grip be thé upgrade for my set up to start making some nice vids on the mountain? In the future I wanna upgrade to a hero7 of 8 black when I get some more experience with filmmaking, for now the silver is fine I think
Hello boss and happy holidays! I was going on a ski trip this week and I am filming with the go pro hero 8 as well. any tips on what sd card and what mounting device I should use? Truly appreciate the help thank you.
Now that it's 2021 do you have any new recommended gear? I currently have snowboard trip next Saturday. Looking to get something for stable footage. I was digging the idea of the mouth piece from the ones you mentioned. Same time not trying to break the bank. Although, I would love the gimbal cause it looks so buttery smooth.
I’m just learning Video taking e with my Go Pro 9. I live in a Rocky Mountain Community with MTB Trails and a Ski Hill and a Whitewater River in the middle. I Hike with my Dogs and they will be a large part of my Videos. I Snowboard Ride a MTB and “Float the River”. A video to show the Settings I’ll need to capture clear imagery would be greatly appreciated.
Is it ok to use the sticky mount at small “hills” like maple ski ridge XD you prob don’t know where that is but if you have been to jiminy peak the top peak is like the novice trail
I have the headstrap. My helmet has that stupid clip on the back for your goggle straps and it makes it impossible to efficiently put the strap on the helmet. The clip doesn't PROPERLY come out.
Hey Johnathan - I just picked up a GP Hero 6 Black and a Karma Grip Gimbal, what video settings do you recommend for shooting for overcast days and sunny days for both with the gimbal and with a fixed mount (pole or helmet)? Thanks for any input. Keep up the great videos!
I let the go pro shoot in auto and 1080p 120 FPS. I don’t want to mess with lighting and ND filters when I am making a video every day. Just shoot standard setting and you will get sick shots
I have a hero 5, would you recommend buying a gimbal or just upgrading to a hero 7/8 with built in stabilization and 240fps slow mo? the sensor is obviously improved as well on the new models but it is more expensive. any advice for me?
The GoPro max is amazing! I highly recommend that if you don’t need slomo over 60fps. If you do I would get the hero 8. The new gopros are super impressive.
Johnathan Buckhouse i just purchased the foam cover for the camera hoping it blocks some of that wind hitting the camera making it colder then it already is. What is ur prefered frame rate and resolution. I like the 2.7k in 60fps but that mode in superview last for about 5 minutes on the mountain.
I don’t know if you are going to see this but what do I do if my GoPro batteries keep dying in the cold because I always want to film on the snow but my batteries always die.😕
Head strap over adhesive mount?? I'd like to see you pull off an adhesive mount. Not a chance. Also the pole mount not a bike mount. Bike mount won't fit on a ski pole.
it's all cool. But why did you not show how you put that strap on your helmet? for me it's better to use extra sticker with a small rope to hold gopro if it goes off than strap my brains out of blood so that thing does not move.

what settings for gopro gero8?
Skiing and snowboarding is awesome! The community is something special.

@@mrtoto9749Same!! It only films the ground for me, the mount cannot go all the way up, but this year I’m gonna do a Helmet mount. Hope that helps :)
Thanks mate, really interesting about the head strap vs mount, I hadn't thought of that one. Really solid point, particularly when renting helmets.
Yes dude!! Great point about renting a helmet
Thanks for the video. I switched from the head mount camera to chest mount. I find head mount video is hard on the stomach to watch because the head is always moving but your chest is almost always stable and pointing in the direction you're skiing in.
Def make that video, would help me out a lot. Would love to know the different settings. Thank and keep up the great work.

@@steveokay8810 that would be helpful to know how he holds it and I think tje wide angle is a must
Huge yes on the GoPro setting while boarding!!! Please please please! Love your channel
Dude sooo stoked you love the channel!
How do you get the selfie stick to flip back and forth with the push of a button? I’ve never seen one like that
I bought a Ruroc helmet and attached a chin mount, it gives by far the best looking video. Haven't used it for snowboarding but I tried it on a longboard and it's way better than a helmet mount.
I bet man! Try it for snowboarding
Heck yeah buddy. Good video and evergreen content!!
True
Sean Ozz working on it 🤣

Yesss, please make the video about the settings and maybe even editing 😍
Great video dude I’m going to pick up 2 of them thanks for the info!! I gave you a like 👍🏻
I was thinking I should get a couple
Snowboard Life 14 heck yeah man! Stoked it helped.
Johnathan Buckhouse I really want to video my riding I got the selfy stick do you think should get the head piece?
@@Gamer-tb3lt need a nice mix of both for sure :)
Wonder how much difference is between the gimbal and the gopro 9 stabilization when skiing/snowboarding
I'm in the market for a selfie pole for skiing, what length would you recommend? Choice is 24'' or 48''.
I'd like as compact as possible but don't want to miss out on half the shot!
Do you recommend applying a case? If so which one while skiing?
The 3 way is super versatile, use as tripod, selfie stick, different angles, head height without the pole in shot etc...
Great video. Would love to know the settings used for the rail and powder clips. I'm new to gopro and need some help. Thanks!
I was wondering about the head strap if they would like stay on my helmet but I really like the mouth piece and I might do that!
Hello!
Awesome video mate!!! I'm new to GoPro aswell, a video with your settings would really help me too :-)
Yes please do a video on the GoPro shooting settings, thank you Sir :))
Ok that could be cool!
Great video, Cool music 👍👍👍
Nice video! Can you send a link where can I buy the selfy stick with a button to flip it?
Yeah I want to find that one too

Heck yeah 🤙🏼
Which selfie stick was the one that flips?? I can't find it anywhere
How do you have your gopro on the selfie stick, upside down or normal and facing you

definitely think the head strap will come off easier
Easier to find a strap than a tiny brick.

Same here! Logistics are complicated considering the strap for the goggles
What a sick Video!!
That’s an old one 😂
Best way to keep it warm? Find my gopro dying when it’s cold. Do you recommend any sleeves/covers? Warmers? Thanks
Warmers definitely help!
the only problem with the karma grip is that its not compatible with the gopro hero 9 and 8

how are you battling cold weather against your battery levels?
Always! It’s a losing battle too!

Bite mount is better then the head strap
Cant a head strap fall off just as easy if not easier than a mount
Honestly no. They have a rubber grip to the straps and it holds on so tight.
I've had a sticky mount for my helmet for 1 or 2 years and it has worked perfectly but i couldn't get the strap to stay on my for more than 5 minutes.
I don’t know if you are going to see this but what do I do if my GoPro batteries keep dying in the cold because I always want to film on the snow but my batteries always die.😕
Can i use 3way to play? I scare it broken 😄
Hahaha never be scared lol
Not sure you really need the gimbal anymore, OIS is so good on the 9 now... Unless you're panning etc...
you wear the strap on your helmet?
Yeah it’s the best
@@JohnathanBuckhouse i just fitted it, and it really is! thanks alot merry christmas!
Have you done a goggles review?
He reps out door master
DootDoot yeah I have but I have a new one coming out soon!!
thank you!
NP!
Where do you snowboard.
I'm having problems with windchill where the camera gets cold and shuts off after 10 seconds of recording. How do (you) prevent this? - hero 7 black
Lots of batteries! I carry 7 of them at all times. Also the gimbal works in cold weather
Keep them in a pocket with some hand warmers 👍🏻
how do you handle power consumption? for me it is 1 hour on battery :(
I turn it off and on all the time
Head strap over adhesive mount?? I'd like to see you pull off an adhesive mount. Not a chance.
Also the pole mount not a bike mount. Bike mount won't fit on a ski pole.
Both work, I just my preference. 🤙🏼
