Thank you for this, it's a blast from my past. I heard Dorsie's Dairy Bar is now closed, that's awful, they made some of the best foot long hot dogs with coleslaw you ever tasted.
HA THAT WAS NICE RIDE I REALLY ENJOYED THAT LET ME KNOW WHEN DO THAT AGAIN. I LIKE LONG RIDES ESPEACALLY THRU THE COUNTRY SIDE . ALSO I NEVER BEEN TO PIKE COUNTY BEFORE THANKS RJ.
I lived here in Zebulon area bk in 77-79 Stayed with Uncle, Aunt, cousin Teena. You Went right past out driveway up hill where i lived. We went to Johnscreek school. Bearcats! Really so glad to have stumbled across this. Nice job, cool music👍💕😀
Looks like you drove from Pikeville to Dry Branch on John’s Creek...about 14 miles....a very minute amount of the largest County in Kentucky. Very beautiful place.
Born and raised in Thompson branch class of 86 johns Creek school. Live in Tennessee now but ain't forgot my home town. Been 7 years since I was there. Still have family there.
My ex-father-in-law and my ex's stepmom lived in a holler in Ashcamp, KY - I used to love going to visit there - it was like taking a major step back into time. My ex-stepmother-in-law was a Hatfield descendent. Relatives buried in the backyard and those folk who lived up in the mountains on either side of the holler, back then Pike County was a dry county, and you didn't dare pull into anyone's driveway back thru those mountains who did not personally know you - we once were riding around the one mountain on a motorcycle and tried to turn around in a dirt driveway and this old lady came out carrying a shotgun and yelling at us - LOL. She finally recognized my ex, tho, thankfully. Lots of stills back there in those days, tho, so you can't blame folks for being cautious. It was so freaking dark at night down in that holler that you could literally hold your hand in front of your face and still not be able to even see your hand. So beautiful and such a simple life.
What year was this video made?? I’m born & raised in Pikeville/Pike County. Dorsie’s Dairy Bar has opened back up! Come back & enjoy, I love that place too!!
Appalachia is THE best motorcycle or car scenic slow vacation in the USA. People are old time friendly - no more misunderstanding of people of any race. I believe tv, reverse migration, and time have taken care of those days. Good riddance.
