This is an issue that has been a problem with the Celtics for the last couple of years. The defence was exposed but the Heat didn't execute partially because their players aren't as good from three point range compared to Vincent and Strus last year and partially because Butler, Robinson (he played but is still injured) and Rozier are all injured. They still win the series even if all of them are healthy but it'd be in 6/7. Not having Lillard bites the Heat in the ass because they beat the Celtics if he's on the team.

As a defender, when coming over the top of the screen, the defender should quickly reposition themselves back in front of their man so their help can also go back to their man, and defense isn't out of position. These defenses over-help too much, especially when they don't need to.

It's pretty clear Mazulla has 50% responsibility (motivation, tactics, in game changes) with the players having another 50% (efforts). They were so relaxed like a reg season game while daring the Heat shooters to shoot.

I expect them to try harder and be more focused on game 3 and then more relaxed and chill in game 4 if they win 3, or to actual try their best in game 4 if they lose 3. It's a team of young children. They only perform when under the crunch.

So basically the Celtics fell asleep defensively and didn’t take Miami seriously
And got sucked into matchup hunting instead of kicking to open shooter. And the Heat hit their open shots at a significantly higher rate than they normally do. It turns out, when the Celtics play lower effort defense, don’t play their game on offense, and the Heat shoot extremely well, that’s a recipe for trouble.
Kinda the same thing they did with the nets a couple years ago and against the sixers every year. This is why they can’t beat the heat,nuggets and the warriors in the playoffs
They thought their names will do the defending for them. But luckily, NBA doesn't work like that.

Id agree except I think, more than half of them, were wide open. And any team of competent pros will make a huge percentage of wide open 3s. If Boston wants to win they need to do better contesting. If they don't do better then I absolutely think it's repeatable for Miami to make a lot of 3s

Coach I have a question. How dependent are the Heat on Bam’s continuous uncalled moving screens?
On the 8:50 screen. It should be dubbed illegal as his leg was outside shoulder width when contact was made. Same could be said about the 5:28 screen. And there are countless of other examples just in this video alone. Not to mention when he continues moving towards or through a player. Most notably the defensive foul on Jrue Holiday when Bam continuously was setting a moving screen.
Every NBA team is dependent on getting away with at least some rule breaking when compared with the past. Carrying happens pretty much every play, travels happen pretty regularly, and so do moving screens. The league has decided to loosen enforcement of this stuff and, news flash crybaby, they loosened it many years ago. The lad enforcement is nothing new and it's not unique to your poor precious Celtics. They aren't somehow getting unjustly and uniquely screwed. It's just the way the game is played now. Get over it. Your Celtics do it too, cause you'd be an idiot not to.

I was waiting for a video like this. I'm a Celtics fan, but they were CLEARLY showing Nooooo respect to the Heats offense. The funny thing is, I think the Celtics could still play this clog the lane/help defense and win. I'd like to see a video like this on the Heats defense. I felt like the Celtics knew they were gonna get run of the line but bailed on the 3 too easy, like they were trying to prove they could go to the hoop.
