There was a pride day at my middle school during June where teachers told kids to wear rainbow for pride. A bunch of kids got together and decided to wear red white and blue. So many wore patriotic colors that my they canceled the day this year. I am so proud of my middle school student body!!❤

Meritocracy was never a thing. For every Blsck student admitted to a school like Harvard, there are 3 legacy admissions. College Board did a study on this in 2007 over 30 top institutions and over 310k applications. When nepotism, and legacy are done away with, THEN we will be on the path towards a meritocratic system.

@@ian_fordLegacy admits only get a real bump if their parents donate. Those donations to the endowment is what allows the university to subsidize tuition for poor students. The SAT scores and GPAs of legacy students are still competitive.
I ran the numbers a while back when the lawsuit data came out. It was roughly 90% of black admits had a lower GPA and SAT than the median white or Asian applicant. But for diversity requirements, almost no black students would be qualified.
Using racial guidelines is a bit laughable anyway. When I was at the college a decade ago, all of the black students in my cohort were either from upper middle class black families, or they were the children of African oligarchs. Melanin is an awful proxy for wealth in competitive fields.
@@kungfoochicken08 That data would only be meaningful if, say, 30% of top University incoming Freshman were Af.American. Which would be insane. But routinely it’s roughly between 5% and 11% depending on the school. Yet per College Board’s study, upwards of 1/3 of incoming freshman to top 30 schools are legacy admits, with nearly 80% of those legacy admissions being WT. So the idea of “meritocracy” is a cudgel used only when Af.Am people are perceived to be benefiting from some sort of “special treatment” by the system. But the admission data shows the increase is marginal at best with relation to ALL admitted students.
Where I do agree is that racial guidelines are archaic and it should be purely socioeconomic factors. For that’s the paradigm we USED to be under, until something happened in the Virginia colony during 1676 that caused a pivot towards race for the next several hundred years. MLK wanted to uplift the poor. Not just Af.Am people, but poor WT Americans as well, and he was ostracized by both sides. A wealthy Af.Am family doesn’t need “special treatment.” But a poor WT family making $50K combined with an academically sharp child, DOES need help. They shouldn’t be penalized because “WT= privileged.” It should help poor families of all different backgrounds.
My 20 year old grandson is based… he was telling me how many of his friends and college acquaintances have come over to his side in the past three years. He started the conversation by telling me how easy it has become to find people his age to have an intelligent conversation with.
He said the shift is tangible at school, work and socially!

Our kids are in their 20's (one millennial and one Gen z) and we are just so stinkin' proud of them for seeing through the nonsense. Also, thank you for your service. Even if they're scaling back their DEI Commitments, keep a careful eye out for anything that remotely smells off. There's been talk about how these people are trying to rebrand with the BRIDGE initiative and attempting to redefine the whole game to a structure that is more charitable to their terms and "logic." So you can be grateful they rolled these things back, but always be aware that they aren't going to stop after hitting a snag. I wouldn't be surprised if they had other initiatives beyond BRIDGE in the works.

I haven't heard of BRIDGE, but anyone who thinks these racist / neo commies are giving up on this stuff is naive, at best. And delusional, at worst.
DEI was a rebrand of a previous "equity" effort. Progressives are in a social free fall. It used to be their branding worked, period. Now, they're plagued with resistance to their brand, rebrand, and their rebrand of the rebrand. There are very few things that they branded that haven't turned into a disaster for them lately.

As for the guy complaining about conservatives still fighting the culture war, the tides have only just begun to shift. Even if we switched from offense to defense, we still need to play the game. Just think about the tortoise and the hare; perhaps we are leading at the moment, but don’t get cocky and begin to slack or we may get passed again or lose outright. Have frat bros changed? My limited experience of them 20 years ago was heavy drinking, low GPA, and rich parents. School admin disliked them due to their liability, but tolerated them because of the history and rich alumni.
Changed? Maybe not, but they're using what they are for something good, for a change!
Not all frat bros are the same, just as some sororities are not all blond and ditzy. Some organizations actually value scholarship, and not being compliant to certain aspects of superficiality.

The right may be winning culturally, but economically we've completely lost. We're $35 trillion in debt, nobody talks anymore about repealing Obamacare, Boomers (incouding Trump) shriek to the high heavens if you even suggest reforming SS and Medicare (the things driving our economic collapse), and politicians like JD Vance sound almost indistinguishable from ones like Elizabeth Warren. We have sooooo much more work to do in this area before we can start saying we're winning.
