He died of cancer on March 28, 2023. Thank you, for all the beauty you have left us. I hope you continue to be surrounded by all the musical sounds that have made you so happy in this life.
I would say this song is the perfect mirror to the movie. It shows us that doesn't matter where we are or with what we're dealin, we'll always have problems in our life that in the end are all connected. It's the way we face our problems that gives color to our life; and this may sound a little too sadistic, but there's something so beautiful about tragedy... It makes us change, make us grow, make us know a part of us that was unrevealed. This is all that: all about the same, yet so different; yet we can find a little bit of ourselves on it, some more than others.
Watching it in 2025...., apparently it has taken me 2 years into the future, though this is a good time in my life, in my 19th birthday. Though I was also listening to it in 2024, damn how hard that time would be for me, I would be 18 in 19, may, 2024. Through 2023 I will be working hard, being strong, embracing my true self, improve and change my life, do and learn. It'll get me closer to the place that I want to be, and in the right time. Decided to get up, not live in my blindness and depression, and get my problems done.
Up to this day, I still feel goosebumps with these songs... Gustavo Santaolalla and Ryuchi Sakamoto are trully talented to evoke a bittersweet melancholy with their work.
i cant explain this song, it makes me to feel sad and suddenly happy, it makes me to think in my life, i love art of music and the way of touching inside us
I don't know if I'm the only one, but the music after 4:15 brings me into a specific space and time. My place is a rocky, arid cliff in Greece, probably somewhere in Attica. It's July, 3 in the afternoon, the sun is shining very bright making the rocky landscape austere. The sea is a bit wavy and sunlit, the waves are hitting the rocks and little drops can be felt in the air. All one can hear is the water and the wind passing through the dry wheat. It's amazing how music can take you to places.
Is it strange to say that this is one of my favourite films even though I've only watched it twice? Parts of it are so emotionally devastating that I can't bring myself to watch it again. It lingers though. When I listen to Endless Flight, I'm right there in that space. It's beautiful, and haunting.
Opheliah Lake thats not strange. When you're drawn to something with such deep emotion, it doesn't matter how long you've known about it, because you know in your heart that it stuck a chord.
Julie D totally agree with you. Alejandro Innaritu's( the guy who made this film) other film 21 Grams is one that i have seen only once, just once but the impact it had on my mind is so huge, i cannot shake it off.
oh yes!! that's one of my sister's favorite movies but ive never seen it. she has told me i would enjoy it a lot though. i will have to check it out now.
If there is magic in the world it must be this kind of music. I can travel the universe with my mind wondering while this masterpiece play in the background
I remember watching Babel back in 2006....I used to think the meaning of the title...but, now I understand with time...its the noise that appears when 2 different languages comes across as in the conversation. I loved the movie...by far, very Global showcasing of emotions, anxieties and vulnerabilities....this music is such a masterpiece. Gustavo santolalla is just superrrrrb.....the music is like a backbone of the whole movie....the lateral part of the music calms the mind and reminds us that how our lives are connected even with different cultures....hats off to Alejandro inarritu for the direction.
Sometimes when it all becomes too much, I’ll listen to this song and cry. I can put the most painful memories I have with this song. It’s the bittersweet pain that heals
This is the "lullaby" music for this film. The plot and motive of the melody just coincides with how little time we devote to our children. We run away somewhere ... hurry .. not notice ..... this is the whole tragedy of our life ... So do not rush to be adults! ........ You miss a lot of things! ... Do not rush!
I've been listening to this song for years now, it's been 2 3 years since last time I heard it, and everytime without fail I feel a physical pain in my chest while listening to this song. It physically hurts me and I don't know why.
You're never gamze know I remember you every time I listen to this piece. You will not understand my deep and burning love for you. I'm just leaving this message here. I attach a note to a glass bottle and throw it into a vast ocean. What is important is the "love" of our simple lives. Stay happy...
I love the detail at 6:00 where where you hear the children screaming/playing and men talking in the background. It kind of messed with me the first time I heard it but now it kind of makes me tear up because of the tenure in this song

I’m using this song on a choreography as an ode of the places and people who were part of the history of Barcelona and now they’re only memories❤️
October 18, 2022 and this music still gives effect to touch the heart & move the soul. There's love, tragedy, smiles, hugs, embracing, anger, compassion, HUMAN EMOTION; at 4:15a, it motivated me to sit on the balcony with coffee and writing pad for creativity flow. Be blessed & loved & loving🙏🏽💞
This gives me a feeling of Saudade. No real English translation, other than a deep emotional state of nostalgic or profound melancholic longing for an absent something or someone that one loves. Moreover, it often carries a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might never return.
“The famous saudade of the Portuguese is a vague and constant desire for something that does not and probably cannot exist, for something other than the present, a turning towards the past or towards the future; not an active discontent or poignant sadness but an indolent dreaming wistfulness.” I think this is the best quote that translates the word
Gamze bu parçayı her dinlediğimde seni hatırladığımı hiçbir zaman bilmeyeceksin. Sana olan derin ve yakıcı aşkımı da anlayamayacaksın. Bu mesajı buraya öylesine bırakıyorum.
