    原來就這些,謝謝!
Thanks so much from a Teochew descendant in Thailand.
Teochew is my mother tongue, while Mandarin is my foreign langauge.
Traditional Chinese characters make me closer to Chinese civilization, while simplified Chinese make me away from ancestors.

simplified Chinese is traditional Chinese characters , like it or not , it's called 草书 and used in taking accords and quick records , That's why a person learn simplified Chinese can read "traditional Chinese" taiwan use without even learn it . the And nobody in china speak Mandarin as mother tongue except the areas around Beijing . but it's still not foreign language , more like formal langauge .China have the tradition using the tongue of capital as formal laugange .Since the present day Beijing is captial , the mardarin is come from areas around Beijing , Ohter areas in north and southwest despite marked as Mardarin speakers ,but in reality they sounds very different ,Even some grammers are different . so marked those areas as" mandrain sepakers" is actually very misleading . We can not understand each other without subtitle despite we all speak "mandarin " , and Despite being "native mandarin speakers ", we all have a hard time learning Mardarin ·········

My mom is teochew nang, my dad is hokkien lang. I always wondered why they sound so similar except teochew sounds more nicer while hokkien sounds more crude. Especially in Singapore. I can tell when one says hokkien vs teochew but when I speak, I just mixed them and my mom says I butchered the two languages. So both are southern min.

Teochew does not influence by the Cantonese. The difference between the Hokkien vs Teochew was the Hokkien sound more of (文读),Teochew more of (白读)

There are some Cantonese words in Teochew like 'Toi' 睇 (to see) & 'Tse' 遮 (umbrella), Cantonese pronounciation are 'Tai' & 'Tse'. All the other Southern Min languages in Fujian use 'Kuann' 看 & 'Suann' 傘. There are also some other Cantonese words listed by Professor Li Rulong of Xiamen university. If you don't believe, you can go to meet him.

My dad's father left the Teochew village and went to Taiwan and got married. Then he went to Hong Kong and married my grandma an ethnic Cantonese and had my dad, his elder brother and younger sister. My dad went to Vancouver in 1978.
My father's father was the head of the global Teochew Organization in Vancouver BC Canada until his death in 2001. My dad inherited the position and then some CCP affiliates infiltrated into the organization. They then lured my dad into the CCP ideology by having the mayor of Beijing visit the house in 2002 and then somewhere in the 2000s my dad stepped down as chair person and somebody else took over the organization.

If TewChew from northern China then why most my family and friends in Vietnam have double eye lid big round nice eyes instead jinky eyes that most northern Chinese have. Im confused. Thought rare occasion Chinese have jinky eyes but turn out most Chinese have jinky eyes. Im confused. Im not racist im Chinese Asians too but our whole family n friends big round double nice eyes. Jinky eyes to me so annoying like their faces are missing something, eyes.

      1. The original Han Chinese have bigger double eyelid eyes which is the same as the other Sino-Tibetan people.
      2. Some Northern Han Chinese are mixed with the Mongols and Manchu with smaller eyes. Watch 'Origin of Han Chinese' in this channel.
      3. There are many Northern Han Chinese such as Wang Yi and Wang Junzheng who have bigger eyes because they are not mixed with Altaic people.

Im Chinese too but to me or rest of the see jinky eye are so fugly strange boring n plain even annoying if i mingle with them too long or see them too long i need to go. That's why Chinese entertainment medias n celebrities music so unknown boring especially they use dumb outdated Chinese writing make them even worse so boring shy square slow small short sissy silly stupid scare. That's why Chinese are many but still get dominated by other. Siberia is next to China but Russia is far away got it now. They had sailed around the world but do nothing to control it because they can't see very far in future nor many part of the world but just in China. Why northern Chinese evolve that way very strange. They probably don't need see lot around over n wide angel or what so they can focus front them like book computer n science n work i guess.

@yuegonghuamei6685 I'll clarify why the Chinese in Vietnam have bigger eyes than the Han Chinese, that's because when the migration of the southerners mixed with the Austronesian ones, look at the eyes of the saisiyat or amis people, they have big eyes and double eyelids, right?!!, compare that with han chinese. Southerners are characterized by large eyes and double eyelids like Southeast Asians and Pacific Islanders who are not possessed by genetic northerners.
