I have a 240bhp Clio RS (Not the trophy) and can vouch for it being a seriously impressive car! Amazing to see them gaining more exposure on UA-cam now!

what I don't get, my RS Ph1 stage1 with 240hp does 250kph easily on the speedo. Why is the one jn the video sticking at 232?
@@robbe_895 lot of factors, tires, wheel size, road status. Moreover they are driving with 1 passenger and full tank that can be up to 110Kg, that can make the difference on such speed.

Max - you don't test a Clio RS Trophy on the autobahn. That's like testing an Aventador by seeing how well drives off road.
Those Renault RS cars are famous for their track qualities like braking/handling
Actually a good point. This is not an autobahn car. Literally drove my 2017 RS Trophy at 210km/h on the autobahn this weekend, and it's fun obviously, but nothing spectacular. On the track is where it really shines. Heard from multiple owners that Clio RS has been one of their most fun track cars. Even heard someone give it a 10/10 as a track car for beginners, and he did 276 laps on the Nordschleife per year with the car.
@@IGUANAMIKE i have a clio 197 rs. Most fun ive ever had with a car on the track. Had a 182 trophy wich is also amazing. But the 197/200 chassis is unbeatable.

Does your insurance pay the the cost if someone els drive the car on a track and crashes? Mine doesnt and sometimes dont even allow your car to be on a track. So the autobahn is a verry good and cheap option to test cars even though some cars are not build for straight line performance. Beside that not everyone owner wants there car on a track.

Nice, the Clio is a beast.
I know automatics are quicker but in a pure driving car like this clio I feel like it would be way better with a manual.
I dont know if the RS has a different manual gearbox but I have a MK4 clio and the gearbox is shockingly bad. (id still have a manual over an automatic though)
Believe it s worth a try on that platform. I m a manual hardcore driver... but I enjoyed a lot still
@@KieranDevvs i recently bought a modern rs, the gearbox is really not bad and the shifting can be controlled with how much you press the gas. You must create a feeling. And honestly I really prefer the pedals more than the manual gearbox, gives it a way funnier experience in my opinion to drive

Too bad the old 16v's (R19&Clio) are so rare these days, i got a Ph2 R19 16v with a low boost 2.0 (F7R) conversion, ony 2 secs slower from 100 to 200 Km/h.
Maybe i will go for a high boost setup this year.

I wonder if the electronic power steering on this car (the RS) does have that feeling of disconnection with the road that you have with the basic Clio 4.
Feeling on the wheel is great on RS.I couldn't belive how fun this car is to drive until I bought one.
In AUTO mode yes, it's dead, but that's for parking/town drive. In Sport/Race it's heavy and precise!
It's a fantastic car to drive, i'm a die hard alfisti but had to buy one cause it was by far the best to drive, the Megane was something special too but way to expensive for me.

@@harbl2479 as any other decision, you have to commit to some things and let go of others when making a car. That was Renault's decision. Honestly I prefer that way, as in race mode, you have a pure car without electronic bullshit. I drive mine in race mode most of the time
Without an LSD you are going to have a less dynamic car. Why would you want that in the most sporty setting.. An LSD is not electronic bullshit
Bmw has electronic LSD only in their race mode (dsc off). Which is also a compromise but more logial. Best would be for it to always be on...
@@harbl2479 completely agreed, but a more natural car. In sport mode, the car is faster around b roads, but I prefer the fun factor of race mode.

Fot the official one either the Renault Sport Shop or Oreca Store, but it's pricy, like 1.3k euro not painted. You can get replicas for half that price, of course, it's not the same quality. Imo, it's too expensive to be worth it. With that money you can upgrade the front brakes to Brembo and/or get yourself some Bilstein B14/B16 coilover set that will make the car better.

I’m thinking about buying a clio 4 RS. Is the trophy worth the extra money or is an RS almost just as good? Btw.. is there any difference between the trophy engine and the rs engine? Because there is 20hp difference
Have you already bought? The Trophy has a way better turbo and also overboost. I only had the normal RS Ph I and they have had issues with power losses. Only ways to fix it were remapping and bigger intercoolers. So if you want to tune it, go for the normal. If you want to keep it stock, take the extra in the Trophy.

I’m planning on keeping it stock and safe, I have a tuned Mazda 6 MPS with near to 400hp that is a total money pit. So I rather have a “reliable stock daily car” that still is capable of racing like a lunatic and keeping the 6MPS as a project track car

Just don’t get it 🙄 i have manage to make 236km/h with my clio 4 rs 200edc. (Complete Stock) with no problems. But this one struggles 😱 and it’s 250hp and waaaay more nm then my stock 260nm 😂
The 250hp is in 5th gear, so it mostly affects the effort it takes to get up to high speeds. There is almost no difference in 6th gear, which means that the top speed won't differ (this isn't the case for every car/every tune). Also, the car has to have the aerodynamics to achieve speeds over 250 and that spoiler isn't doing the aerodynamics any favor in terms of top speed

@@SebLoeb09Cars for sure not haha. But that is the case with every spoiler. Spoilers create downforce and thus drag. Spoilers help with with increasing pressure on the car which gives the car more grip. However, they also reduce top speed. It mostly is a tradeoff. Bigger spoiler means more downforce which means better grip in corners and when applying throttle (assuming the wing works properly and isn’t there solely for show purpose). By removing the wing, your topspeed will increase but the amount of grip in corners and when accelerating decreases. However, when a spoiler doesn’t work properly you’ll get the downside of lowering your topspeed but you won’t get the benefits of extra grip and downforce

this one uses a NIssan NISMO engine. so it doesnt break like the other renaults :P mine going 4 years without a SINGLE issue

Almost 5 years I have serious problems in the cooling system, the service dpt told that car has been fixed. however, a message (Hazardous Failure engine stop) show up in the center console. They have change every part of the cooling system until now. and the probs have been continued. They dont know what to really do. Ι'm in despair
