Ah, Juan got it! Yes!
Did you order BrayGray?
@@BarryJohnson Yepppp! 😁📸
@@BrayGrayyLOL, they gave me $800 for my OnePlus 11. I love that phone but between that and another phone sale I couldn't resist breaking even.
@@BarryJohnson Noice! Let's go!
@@BrayGrayy Yes Sir 💪🏽
Love seeing your coverage on this device. Between you and TK, people will get substantial info as opposed to surface-level videos. Much appreciated bro!
I really appreciate that bud 😊
The "row" and "stacked" multitasking is very very cool. It escapes the "small app view" plight that many people have with the traditional layouts.
And i agree, why are we tailoring conversation around "the avg consumer" if we're begging for more and more feature parity of desktops or other pro features (and i mean pro in the traditional sense, not the way Apple uses it)
It's tough right? Like to a point, yes we should be making UI easier to engage with, but on the other, it's a bleeding edge $1700 foldable phone... SOME curiosity about the features and settings should be warranted...
Thanks for the point about changing user behavior. Most users need to know more about what there devices are capable of
I think a LOT of the ads for these foldables are REALLY irresponsible.
Awesome video! Love to see how far you went with the productivity, and you've made me question how much I REALLY need to lug around my laptop every time I travel and still want to get some work done...
We've been GROSSLY overselling phone compute power to consumers for YEARS now 😅
Back in the day, I used a Galaxy Note 5 to edit videos and photos for school projects. I even use it for coding and a lot of sketching
Phones even many years ago have already reached a point where you can use them for actual work
I can only imagine how foldables can up the ante
The foldable companies don't do enough to educate the public on the many things a foldable can do.
True
Great to see your opinion so quickly! I have been pining for a foldable for years, ended up going to the samsung store and played extensively with the fold 5 to see how I'd like it.
I didn't as much as I thought i would. Particularly media/youtube didn't seem that much better than on a large slab, which was disappointing.
Decided there and then I'd stick with a slab phone (Just received my px8 pro yesterday) and surface pro as my productivity on the go companion, it's much more appropriate for me.
Funny how something can seem really cool - scratch that, IS really cool - but is actually not that practical for everyone. Glad I went with the hands on experience before buying it!
Almost like different people have different needs and different budgets right! 😁
Congrats on the new Pixel! It's a champ so far for me.
I have used the Fold 3, 4 and now 5. Love them all but this is looking promising, just need to see it after 6 months, fingers crossed it hold up to weat and tear ! Great review thanks!
I mean, considering how well the Oppo foldables have been holding up, I'm not sure where all this "wait and see" energy is coming from techies on OnePlus...
I'm glad you did this one. I'm ordering it this week to replace my daily driver, my LGV60 ThinQ dual screen because this is the closest to the LG experience... Especially when it's similarly sized like my LGG8X dual screen. I love the UI for multitasking... It seems to have the LG vibe. These are some great insights to the inner workings of the software. As soon as it's delivered, I'll revisit this and TK's video to tweak it.
Will you miss the headphone jack and Micro SD cars slot?
@@thetechboyorg not necessarily since I'm keeping my LG phones. I don't really use the headphone jack as often to make it a priority unless I've time to get immersive. I use headphone jacks mostly for gaming if I need to be in a quiet area with 0 latency but most of my gaming is done on a tablet anyway. I normally would miss the SD card slot but half a terabyte isn't terrible and I don't have to transfer all 136 HD movie rips to that phone as well , especially since most of my data is redundantly backed up on other older SD cards. Half a terabyte can handle my music collection because I'm in a spotty area so I don't always have the cloud to work with. I think I would dedicate a OnePlus open to content creation and cinematography and photography. Filling up $635 GB on my last one TB SD card was a culmination of years of information that will still be backed up on the other phones
This has been maybe the most informative and well-conceptualized overview on this phone since it came out, thank you!
It's fun digging a little deeper 😊
This foldable can really get some work done! Love the multitasking features this device has. I still love using a tablet today because of the bigger screen but still portable than a mini laptop. Foldables are definitely the future that can replace mini tablets. It just needs to be more affordable!
Would love a follow up on the duo, as i just purchased a used unit to see how it goes.
As for getting foldables mainstream; the 3 biggest hurdles im seeing currently are camera performance, price and software.
I really liked my zfold 2 and 3, but the lack of camera performance or upgrades has made me hesitate buying a newer version.
Price comes down to the other 2 factors i mentioned. As there are expensive slab phones, but software and hardware are to the point people are happy paying it.
And software, as you and many others have mentioned, nedds to be developed further for apps to take advantage and feel native to the folding portion.
Thank you for a wholesome evaluation of where this tech puts us right now. I agree something's in the air and this is part of it.
I'm here for it!
You Sir get a SUBSCRIBED for delving into the real world technical performance. These are things that matter and are intriguing to me.
Folks have been GROSSLY overbuying phone compute performance for YEARS now. It's long past time we started getting our money's worth.
Love that this popped up seconds after the event finished :)
Still using my LG v60, android 13. The option of single slab or 2 screens - I don't have to lug a heavier bulkier double screen unless I want to. V60 audio is streets ahead of so many phones with its ess sabre Quad DAC, 3.5mm headphone socket, aptx adaptive, sd card slot. Performance is zippy, battery is great, otg out, stylus support on both screens.
LG come back please!
Never hear an argument from me against those last phones from LG. Glad they went out on a high note.
Thanks for your honest review of the phone and some of the downsides.
How do you find the multitasking compared to the Z Fold 5 which I have-I'm tempted to get this phone but want as much information first
This is the video i needed to see . I was up in the air between this and the pixel fold but i want to be able to do anything on a computer right in my pocket
I just received my OnePlus Open today. Waiting for a really good case for it. The one in the box is passable but I feel I keep missing back swiped because the borders of the case are a bit tall. I tried to increase the sensitivity of the swipes and it did help some. So far everything is great just have to get used to all the settings on this OS. Last OnePlus I had was the 7pro which was great too.
Congrats on the new phone!
It's so pretty! It seems like they went all out! I don't need it but it's definitely tempting me.
It's REALLY fun, but I HAVE to be conservative in recommending one as someone's solo daily driver.
@@SomeGadgetGuy haha yeah, my wallet is also trying it's best to pull me back, but you know how our techy minds are.
The heart wants what the heart wants 😅
@@SomeGadgetGuy Yeah I'm not sure what it is, but lately, my brain has been telling me that I need a tablet, right around the time that OnePlus was first showing off the design of this foldable. And then of course I had to peak at the trade in offers they're having right now.
😁
Does it have a second space for secure folder feature like xiaomi or Samsung where you can have two app accounts on one device
Yup. A private safe and an app cloner.
That moment you nearly threw it my heart stopped 🤣
Ps. This seems fantastic. A foldable I really want at last.
I had to leave the outtake in there. Flipping hilarious...
Looking forward to some more in-depth coverage from you. Could you please check whether Wacom or any other active stylus may work? From what I found, the seemingly identialy Oppo Find N3 Fold is supporting those. If this is another LG V60 situation (yeah, we support this amazing hardware feature, we just forgot to tell anyone, least reviewers...) I wouldn't know hot to react...
Also, I'd love OP to at least bring the interface they offer on their tablet to the Open as a sort of compromised desktop mode, it's not full on Dex/Ready, but it'd be far more usable than what they have at the moment.
I'm waiting to see if the Oppo pen works. You SHOULD NOT use traditional pens with plastic screens.
@@SomeGadgetGuy You are totally correct right on that front, I will fully admit that I've gotten so comfortable with the special Fold specific S-Pen on my Fold 3 that I completely forgot that it differs from other Wacom digitizer based solutions. Sticking with the manufacturer recommended one is definelty the right way to go on these screens, my mistake for forgetting that fact.
Not on you AT ALL. We're all still getting up to speed on plastic screens, and these companies marketing departments aren't helping to educate.
I'm late but if you tap the bar in-between the apps, it gives you the option to flip the orientation as well as some other stuff (same as other OnePlus phones but works especially well on my open)
Can you try with a Netflix stream and a word doc?
@@SomeGadgetGuy Using the Netflix and Microsoft word app, once the stream was going I was able to split the two without issue. I even got around typing without Netflix being shoved to the top by using the floating window feature on Gboard. Now, if I tried opening in a different order Netflix would zoom in to the squarish surface area or would do the multi-window thing and tell me it couldn't be resized. I was also watching Peaky Blinders which I'm certain helped in some way 😂
Edit: I also turn my Open landscape when doing this kind of split screening and it's given me much cleaner results.
So that's KIND of my experience too. Split the apps, start content, open a doc, then tap that bar in the middle, then hope you've done the dance in the correct order for it to be functional. THIS is what I mean though.
On the duo I open word on one panel, netflix on the other, then I turn the duo sideways. Done.
There's still a TON we could have learned about tablets from Microsoft.
can't wait for the review 👀
Thanks for this Juan. I personally hate the square innie display.
I would want a tablet shrinked and then make a fold. I want the tablet aspect ratio for watching videos as it has that big black bars which makes it useless for what I will use.
Also reading comics would be another use and the weird aspect ratio makes it useless for me. I hope someone can create a fold whose inner screen has the same aspect ratio as a Samsung tablet etc.
The Pixel Fold fits that too. I like the aspect ratio and hinge on that better than the Zfold, especially for a good book-like experience.
@@SomeGadgetGuy yet to try the pixel fold. But I would buy any fold which will have that tablet aspect ratio
I have been using a Sony Xperia 1 V. I'm interested in your input about the camera since it has that great Sony Sensor. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Similar sensor tech, but the sony sensor is a touch larger. If you're talking photo and video performance, Sony is one of the top options of the year. The Open is really good, maybe the best foldable camera out, but it's not a camera focused phone like the XPERIA or Xiaomi Ultra/Oppo/Vivo.
Outstanding repot on this device!!
IMHO, an important app would be Remote Desktop (an RDP app with low latency) running screens from your home server.
Because you know the value and uniqueness of the duo. I've subscribed
I'm literally holding it right now to type this 😄
@SomeGadgetGuy dude! I just put mine up yesterday..I picked it up and wondered why I wasn't using it. Then I'm reminded that I paid for the pixel fold so I need to get my use 😂. The pen support, the multi-tasking. Gosh. It is the perfect portable business device. It was about two major software updates away from being the perfect device for me.🤦🏽♂️ But Microsoft...
Broke my heart... Broke my damn heart...
Thanks Juan for explaining how the foldables we have now have limitations because of their dimensions. Camera, and battery for example. One of the handful of tech UA-camrs that looks at a product subjectively. Great vid as always.
It's crazy right? The whole performance thing is SUPER obvious, but techies seem to have forgotten how surface area works...
Great video!
Great vid mate. I'd really like to get my hands on it, but I'll need to get it from abroad I think. The Netherlands are not on the cards yet deliverywise. And I'm still drawn to the Surface Duo 2 as well, especially now those prices arendropping quite a bit overhere.
Just that drag and drop file picker and app tiling is enough to be a huge boost in usability. With everything else... well I was skeptical but damn...
Android has a LONG way to go for drag and drop support across apps, but when I saw it work on my ANCIENT audio editor app, I got really excited. Baby steps, but we're getting there.
5:00 would you be able to open 2 apps in portrait mode and make them both active?
Depends on the apps. I can open a photo gallery and discord and use one finger on each at the same time, but I can't guarantee that will work with all apps.
Hi Juan! I've been watching your videos for years and find them very enjoyable! I couldn't help but notice the set up you have at 11:36 and it looks really cool. I'm hoping to find out how you do something like that.
One of the things I realize is that i have a problem with being able to do my work and share a space with my family. I like how the Nintendo Switch does it, to where it gives you that flexibility to share the living room and game while other family members are in that same space.
What would you recommend for someone who wants to do work on their phone, but doesn't have enough space for a laptop? More like a tabletop? Sorry about all the questions and the long comments, but I was wondering also if you ever do any videos about this type of set up? Sort of like how some people show off their tech setups in their studios, but like for phones in terms of work?
Long question short, is what's your set-up like? Thanks either way, I know you're a busy man and I appreciate you giving us your sincere and useful thoughts on the phone tech industry. Have a great day!
The sister company supported pens on the Find N2 is this supported on 1+ Open?
Don't know yet. It's been surprisngly hard for me to get the pen here. Hoping TK can score one.
@@SomeGadgetGuy it would be great if the pen from the OnePlus tab would just work with this.
REALLY hoping...
4:28 That's one of the main problems with foldable phones as most apps aren't still optimized for larger screens. With LG Dual Screen case, there's no worry for such a thing since they can work perfectly well in a normal smartphone aspect ratio. That's why I still highly prefer dual display over foldable phones.
Yeah. The idea of "two separate phones side by side" is still kinda the best solution. It's a shame more companies didn't try dual display cases.
lookin forward to see how the cameras compare to the pixels and samsungs of the world
Spoiler. They're REALLY good. A touch finnicky, needs another update, but the claims made by OP are solid.
May I ask what video editor was that and if I can download it on my tab?
LumaFusion! It should. It's a great mobile editor.
@@SomeGadgetGuy thanks for this. Already subbed. Definitely will learn a lot from your channel. 😁😁😁
I'm truly excited to pick up a big foldable like the Open for productivity but my work involves heavy Photoshop use for graphic design (not so much photo editing), so do you guys know any photo editing apps that work best on a foldable?
I use Photopea on my Fold5, it works very well.
All those things u can do it twice as fast on the z fold with dex mode
I'm getting this phone on Wednesday, and I'm hoping that the software isn't a downside for me. I've been looking for videos of people playing with the split screen/multi-tasking.
I currently have an S23 Ultra, but my wife needed a new phone, and asked if I just wanted to get a new phone, and I finally looked towards a foldable phone as I don't think I'd want any other regular phone besides my S23 Ultra.
Yay, video output!
I KNOW RIGHT!
Great video
Hi Juan, can we connect key board and mouse to OnePlus open?
Yup. Drivers have always been in android for all phones to support keyboard and mouse. You can go Bluetooth or connect a laptop hub for cabled accessories.
@@SomeGadgetGuy thanks. One more thing are you facing any heat issues in the phone?
does oneplus open come with opne plus stylo which we can buy seperately like in oppo ind n2 they gave us a choice to buy oppo pen seperately
We're still waiting to see if the Oppo pen will work on this. No official support listed, but the hardware is really similar, so we're hoping yes.
This guy read my mind .👍
Dope vid Juan. I would say something that always blows people away when they see me using my fold is using the rear cameras for selfies. They love the fact that they can use the cover screen as a viewfinder to make sure they frame themselves correctly and can use the best cameras the phone has to offer
I did that at a movie with Lex, and folks there were whispering about it. Can't lie. Felt really good 😁
Same Ike! Every time I do it with my Z Fold 5, people are blown away.
Does this have desktop mode similar to the Samsung DEX?
Sadly no, but I am starting to tinker with some of the alt display mode launchers. Hoping to get them to work a bit better. ua-cam.com/video/SHIwSY_DAUk/v-deo.html
So tempted to get one! 😅 But I wish they waited until the Snapdragon 8 gen 3 to come out! I think i just love the idea of having a normal phone one minute then boom bigger screen to watch videos etc on🤣! At a crossroads though! Wait for the next series of phones to come out with the SD 8 gen 3 or get this! Will have to wait and see what OnePlus, oppo , Xiaomi bring for their flagships... Currently have an find X5 pro..
If companies always wait, we'd never get anything LOL.
Supposedly. Much like the LG V60, the OnePlus Open also has the ability for stylus support, but isn't advertised. I'm curious if my LG stylus that I got for the V60, will work on it.
Oh. I would NOT use a harder tip pen on a plastic screen. It's also a different pen tech as far as I know. I believe the only stylus that works safely is the oppo pen for the find n. I hope OP will sell it internationally.
@@SomeGadgetGuy Good to know, thanks for the tip.
Okay multitasking BLOONS TD6 just sold me on this 😂
It plays so well...
Ther OnePlus Open is a great device I was lucky to use this device last week at the media event.
I am a product get work done person too the Samsung Ultra run circles around Window phones when it come to getting stuff done
Juan, with Australia being one of the international markets to get the Oppo Find N3 instead, how different are they in the software as we know the hardware is exactly the same...
That I can't answer directly. I've played with a lot of Oppo, but not lived with one to do that kind of comparison. My buddy TK Bay probably can answer that better?
The terror in your eyes when you almost dropped the phone XD
I have adhd, I'm always multitasking even when reading so when I saw split screen on a Samsung Fold, I was hooked. I just didn't like how they designed the outside screen, I knew if I get a foldable phone it would be like a regular phone when closed, like the Pixel Fold (which isn't sold in my country) and now the Oneplus Open (which is sold in my country).
I was sold on the double screen as soon as I saw Surface Duo, I just didn't like how I had to have it open to use it as a phone and risk dropping it and damaging one of the screens.
Then LG came with a phone that came with a second screen in a case that connected to the phone and I LOVED that idea! I wish more companies would consider that as an option, especially with the flagship phones. It seems so easy, at least in my eyes, to create a case with a second screen in it. That way you get to choose is you wanted one or two screens whenever you went out.
Anyway, I paid the deposit last weekend already and it's very likely I'll buy this phone this weekend, despite the high price. It's the only phone that have caught my attention and if fits my needs.
I REALLY hoped more companies would have cribbed LG's dual screen case and made their own. Congrats on the new phone! Hope the shipping is fast 😊
Thank you So many reviewers want to talk specs, I don't care all I want is a surface Duo multitasking replacement
It's not QUITE the same. I miss the half screen and swipe gestures, but it's a BIG step in the right direction.
Tensor 3 any. Thoughts on that?
Oh I'll be sending my performance charts to the Patreon. Tensor 3 is good. I'm still running the 5G though. Im MOSTLY concerned with how crap Samsung radios are.
I was about to buy it, I'm a One Plus fan since One Plus One... But no stylus and no wireless charging is killing me... I need a Stylus for productivity on the go... Pitty.. I will have to wait the Samsung Fold 6 or One plus Open 2...
We're waiting to see if the Oppo pen works.
Please make a comparison video so I can make a more informed purchase lol
1) can't help but notice it: you know what this 3 apps open side by side reminds me a lot? Windows Phones apps (rest in peace you beautiful)
2) yes, my primary computacional device is my smartphone (with desktop mode).
3) I'm so much a desktop mode user (since 2019!) that foldables doesn't appeals to me.
4) on fact I'm expecting if rollables will in their time (it's a more logical "changeble" form factor to me).
5) that's said, I think Microsoft Duo implementation so much ahead of the curving glass.
6) (shockingly if it's true) appears to be that the Open has stylus (styli 😂?) support in both displays but Oneplus is shy.
I know folks are comparing different foldables, but you know I think the best "big screen" alternative is a desktop mode. Especially if you can pair it with a portable monitor or XR glasses.
@@SomeGadgetGuy yes, about that I'm excited about. This new glasses and how they'll evolve.
I had to jump from a v60 to a fold less than a month ago because my v60 literally couldn't receive calls anymore and now I'm really sad I couldn't wait because I would have loved to play with the one plus
The Z Fold is a FINE consolation prize 😅
The OnePlus Fold looks like a productivity monster.

I think I need to put that on a poster...
@@SomeGadgetGuydo it 😂
What cable was that to support SuperVOOC? I thought only Oppo/OnePlus cables work. 😮
A rated 100W 3M cable from Nomad. It's pricey but it's a GREAT cable.
@@SomeGadgetGuy thanks. Have been looking for longer cable that would work with SuperVOOC. Though the change to USB Type-A with recent OP11 and Open is annoying.
Yeah. I wasn't thrilled with that. The older OP chargers also supported 45W PD. You can tell they saved a penny or two there also.
@@SomeGadgetGuy with how bulky the included 80W charger is. It wont be traveling with me. OnePlus Open does support USB-PD but at a low wattage right?
It shows "fast charging" with some of my other bricks.
how do you force a desktop mode?

Anyone else still think it's a pity that Microsoft is not continuing to develop the Surface Duo and even the Surface Neo? If the software was all sorted out, I would have probably been more likely to buy a Surface Duo than a traditional foldable with their plastic screens and creases.
Makes me so sad to see them cutting back the whole surface team. Windows on ARM is getting SO good. We were so close AGAIN to MS competing in mobile directly.
@@SomeGadgetGuy 100% agree! I'm sure Microsoft had good and valid business reasons for doing that, but they had some really good ideas for mobiles. Heck, I even liked the last generation of Windows phones! Would have been great to have had three major mobile OS systems to choose from, but they just couldn't get app developers to get on board. Pity.
Possible add 5 icons in background ?
A follow up on the duo would me much appreciated

Do you know of a safe site to buy the Oppo pen
Maybe reach out to giztop?
@@SomeGadgetGuy thanks I did they don't know if they will get anymore
Blergh. That's my first resource.
@@SomeGadgetGuy yeah I know…I got to find a safe site for it. I gave up the fold 5 and can’t go back this phone is best I’ve had
I'll pole around a little too.
8:26, this is what annoyed me about the meta quest 2. Why couldn't I just plug it into my phone via usbc and be able to do everything I want to do from my phone. Can't even watch netflix downloaded on the quest.
Those artificial barriers are what drive me MAD. It's why I've circled back so hard to doing things like buying movies on discs again and running my own Plex server.
I'm torn between the ugly green with the matte glass I prefer, and the attractive black with the horrible leatherette texture.
Can't help you there. I've preferred textured backs since the Note 4, LG G4, and OP sandstone days.
I like that device, pair it with the galaxy watch 6 classic butter!
To switch the orientation of the windows you double tap the bar that you use to resize them. I wish that was stated in a tutorial, but i remember doing that on my xperia 1 iii and it was a bit of a shock. Lol
I dunno if I'm just doing it wrong, but the Open doesn't work like that. Those handles help switch apps, but they don't switch the orientation to landscape.
2 physical sim cards?
Yup. 2 SIM or 1 SIM and an eSIM.
I just don't think that it's still not gonna be too available because it's not gonna be contracted anywhere.😢
I think that's the plan though. Oppo is using OnePlus to keep a toehold in north america, but not having to deal with carrier contracts means they can stay a little leaner and make more nimble moves. There are ways to score trade in and financing deals, but you're right that fewer people will do that third party rather than direct with a carrier.
Im suprised the fold 5 is slower when it has a faster processor
I would imagine it's gotta be the price. "Mini tablets" HAVE to start getting closer to the $1000 price point for them to become mainstream. Maybe if slab phones hadn't been inflated (thanks, Apple...), they'd already be that.
All these tech reviewers will find a way to be ok with an iPhone foldable that costs more than an iPhone and iPad combined. As soon as you add a hinge, youre going to see a higher price.
Ayyye it looks nice but not letting my PFold lose
You know you waaaaaaannnnt it...
@@SomeGadgetGuy oh but I do lol
I swear
This oneplus open has given a reason why to wait for another year before making their own folding phone
I want the LG Rollable screen phone instead 😎
I thought the concept was cool, but I'm not really fond of the idea of waiting for a tiny little motor to slide out a fragile frame...
@@SomeGadgetGuy Yeah, I really wanted to see how they'd evolve the dual screen and LG Wing phones more tbh😮💨
What I wouldnt give for more dual screen phone cases. So dman good on those LGs...
@@SomeGadgetGuy Do u think they're really gone for good? Maybe there's a chance they come back in 10 years or so? I enjoy the Pixel experience but it's missing so much from my LG phones. Expandable storage with a HiFi level headphone jack was unmatched 😮💨😮💨😮💨.
Ooof. LG CARVED UP that phone division. It would take a SIZABLE investment to put a new phone team together. I'm not going to say "never", but I think it's unlikely.
Why other youtubers arent talking about the problems ?
🤷♂️
Has anyone tested the open with android auto?
Taskbook closed. Taskbook opened.
You a smart dude. lol.
I get by.
I hope the One Plus Open forces Samsung to innovate more.
It's the thing Samsung Knights don't seem to understand. You don't want the EXACT same design as a Z Fold, as then Samsung has no incentive to refine their designs. The Open is doing something fun, bringing some different takes on software, and competing on price REALLY well.
It is funny reading their really weak defenses of the Z Fold tho? So many bad faith arguments, where they go out of their way to NOT UNDERSTAND what's cool about the Open because they HAVE to defend the label on the purse they like.
OnePlus Open Versus Huawei mate x5 please
First first look, 🎉. A worthy first loo
Don't make me start considering OnePlus again after me switching from OnePlus to pixel 7. OnePlus has left Denmark (I think) although right at this moment, I am typing on my OnePlus 8t while my pixel is providing the hotspot. I just can't get away from OnePlus quick charging.... Sigh.
Folks complaining about no wireless charging dont get what it's like when you REALLY use REAL fast charging.
Looks very good, but they always have to spoil it with something like no wireless charging. Typical One Plus.
Of all the things to compromise on, I don't miss it when I have REAL fast charging. It's better to have different options at different price points than to act like ONE feature is the defining aspect of what makes a good phone.
@@SomeGadgetGuy Yep, I accept that gentle criticism Juan. Fair point.
Aw not going after you Gary. I'm VERY disappointed in some of MY tech brethren who are getting REALLY specific about single features, and then acting like that one difference is a total deal breaker for a product. I know in my comments, we're a bit more open minded about pros and cons 👍
@@SomeGadgetGuy Thanks for those kind comments.👍
I'm buying this for trading on the go😍😍
That's a good work load for something like this.
@@SomeGadgetGuy Perfect, since you took your time to actually respond, it seems as though it is fated for me to get the phone
Price price price. Hahahaha😂
that $1600 price is pretty steep
Compared to what? A $1799 Pixel? A $1900 Fold?
@@SomeGadgetGuy compared to OnePlus usually significantly undercutting the competition. I see they're offering some nice trade in deals though so I guess that's where the undercutting is coming in at
Why would that matter? When a product goes head to head, why is the only value "undercutting". That's why we don't have an 11 Pro this year.
@@SomeGadgetGuy OnePlus has always been the value flagship that's what long term fans have come to look for from them
And since the OP8 Pro, they've made feature comparable premium phones at a SLIGHT price advantage over a Galaxy or iPhone. The Open is no different there. Why would ANYONE believe there was going to be a fire-sale price war on a form factor that is still CRAZY unfamiliar to the vast majority of consumers?
I feel techies have a VERY selective memory when it comes to the history of OP...
Honestly i think they should have taken a bit of a loss here, And sold it at current smartphone products. Imagine if this phone was $1000 They would have gotten a LOT OF MARKET SHARE.
And creators die from exposure.
How'd that "market share" plan work out for LG? They had third place in NA, with double digit share.
I'm sorry but OnePlus Betrayed me like 5 years ago and even though they make great phones they're no longer SEO popular to beat on but I'm still here to complain!!!
Weird to see Google now the new whipping boy...
Expecting ANY phone to REPLACE a game console or laptop is nonsensical. These are phones and should be treated as phones.
Get your expectations in check, man.
Naw. The current phone chips are rivaling 12 gen Intel core i7 u series, and GTX 1050 GPUs, but at around 12W peak power draw.
You should pay attention more. You're missing out on some cool tech.
Everything is the best until it's not. Time will tell. Come back after a few months.
Well, considering how much I've enjoyed previous Oppo foldables, I have some expectations that this one will age well too.

As Juan said, PRICE is also key! I'd rather simply have an iPhone and an iPad Mini with the Apple Pencil. Personally, I would never buy a foldable/mini-tablet without also having the ability to use a stylus with it. So, my only options are the old MS Surface Duo or the Samsung Fold. Especially with the price consideration taken into account, I'd still rather buy a phone and tablet. Once the prices come down to being the same as traditional flagship phones, then I might reconsider.
We're waiting to see if the oppo pen will work with this.
