1931 Bugatti Type 51 in action at Monza Circuit & on Swiss Bernina Hillclimb Pass!

- I recorded this Bugatti Type 51 in two occasion last year: during a Kuno Schaer's track day at Monza Circuit and on the Bernina Pass during the Bernina Gran Turismo weekend last September.
Substantially similar to the Bugatti Type 35B, the Type 51 was considered as the progenitor of the new family of Bugatti racing cars. The most famous drivers who led the T51 to its triumphs were Maurice Trintignant, Louis Chiron and Achille Varzi. The original Type 51 emerged in 1931 and its engine was a 160 hp twin overhead cam evolution of the Roots supercharged 2.3-litre single overhead cam straight-8 found in the Type 35B.

This had to of been one of the most terrifying, and one of the tremendous drives at the same time for the owner lol.
I got a bit worried when it switched from2:32-2:33. I thought "where's the co-driver gone? He hasn't fallen out has he? Oh, it's all right, it's a different scene."
Incredible how smooth that engine runs. It's smaller than I thought. Very expensive go-kart😆
This one's fun thanks I like seeing these old cars being driven
Nice one to complement the Alfa Romeo 8C Monza video. Also, the passenger is really dedicated to do the full "period riding mechanic" duties...
I'm so jealous. Memories of a lifetime right there.
Really really enjoyed as always huge thanks for always making me smile 😊
Love the Type 51!
Thankyou
Fantastica!!!!!
awesome

The 51 More scream than chiron
i hope FIA will make a race categories for car like this
what camera and mic do you reccomend for someone getting into moving and still videography of cars
This is upper echelon stuff
This could worth hundred-million of dollars
Nah not 100 million. 4 million. Google it.
in the future, yes
How much is it? Driving it sure is nerve-wracking)
Cool car but weren't they also available with headlights?
Those were just optional. These cars were built as Grand Prix racers, and don't really need road equipment.
why would you need headlights?
@@roverwaters3875 Indeed. Personally, one thing I hated is road equipment on these old two-seater GP cars. They looked as though they were "sedated" of sorts with cycle wings and lights. They look more on-point and aggressive in their pure GP trim.
It seems in the Netherlands one gets arrested if driving without the wings.
If you use your car on the road an you get delayed then the headlights will allow you to pursue your journey.
Anyone drove such racecar in Mafia The Game?
I take it this is one of the Argentinian Bugatti recreations?
Nope, they make the Type 35
@@KayoMichiels Nice of an original for sure. :)
This is an original, nothing but the real thing there
@@KayoMichiels Pur Sang makes T51 also
As far as I know, one of the earlier videos say that this car is an ex-Achille Varzi car.
Not sure if this thing is stable enough.
pretty sure history established it is very stable
@@roverwaters3875 It could be :)
Extremely stable.
