As a newbie to all of this audio stuff, I find many of Lewitt's videos super helpful and educational!! As it this. Oddly, I am not in the market for a microphone but I find myself looking at the 240 and the 440. Thanks so much!!
Thanks for watching!
I can't wait til I get my first lewitt mic. Has been an aspiration of mine for a while now
Thanks for the video, good information..!!
Nice instructional video. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
That was super helpful!!

So when's your 32bit (dual-)ADC audio interface coming out to make this info obsolete? ;)
JBL monitors for the win
how about the signal chain portion between the compressor and the computer??? A/D converters, audio interface (which most often have preamps built in), and how does the a converter get to the DAW if there is no audio interface? how do you bypass the preamp in an audio interface or how is that gain staged depending on the input type (XLR, TRS...)?
Pretty big gaps in this info...
Hey, thanks for the feedback. Good questions. As I describe in the video I usually shoot for audio peaks hitting about -12dBfs on the DAW's meter (assuming the fade is at unity). It's not super important to hit this target level--you just want to avoid clipping. If you are using an analog preamp or preamp+compressor before your interface, you just have to be sure you are connecting to the line input with the gain knob set at 0 so you're not adding any extra gain. On a combo XLR/TRS jack this means you need to connect a TRS cable. Hope that helps!
@@LEWITT-audio And those combo TRS/XLR inputs sometimes have little switches indicating which input you're actually using and/or the option is on the interface/pre-amp itself, at least in my experience, that's how it's been (for anyone curious).
Subtitles please
Thanks for the feedback, we'll work on them.
