Marines Train in Land Navigation

  • These Marines got the chance to step out of the usual workplace and into the heavily wooded grounds of Camp Fuji to participate in land navigation. Marines from Combat Logistics Company 36 went to Camp Fuji not only to train in a field environment, but also how to navigate through terrain.

    I use offline maps on a mobilephone with gps also possible on a tablet pc.

      batteries die.. satellites go down. cell towers are unreliable.. i use technology too.. but i am glad i was properly trained on map and compass and field craft of finding north, south, east and west with no need for electronics... nothing beats a well trained confident Marine who knows what he's doing in the field. with or without modern technology.

    2/5 Fox Co we used to do this at night by ourselves, alone in the jungle, shooting azimuth using the stars and a map, counting steps or clicks...
