  • Liberal Democrat leader, Sir Ed Davey has been a carer for most of his life. First for his mum, who died of cancer when he was just 15. Then for his Nana and now, he and his wife Emily care for their disabled son John. Ed could be furious at the world - but he’s not. Instead, he has spent his political career standing up for carers and fighting for investment in the NHS and social care. Ed tells James how his personal experiences have shaped his politics and why he’s committed to making real change happen.

    Bravo Mr O'Brien, for giving a voice to Sr. Davey on your program 👍 He clearly understands and values the needs of the general public!

    I would seriously consider voting for him, his party. He has a genuine caring nature. He is not void of empathy. Like Sunak, or Starmmer. It’s interesting because I have never heard this chap talk before. Thanks James for giving this chap a platform. It’s a great to be able to hear the less popular parties thoughts. Nice one ! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

      @420Chilled the choice is limited. No to Tories, no to Labour. Reform doesn’t impress me. So it’s a proper dilemma. Hopefully the liberals won’t make that mistake again, especially based on the Tories track record over the last few years. Imagine letting them have a say in things after what they have been doing. It won’t please the British people. I think the Lib Dem’s have learned a harsh lesson. 👍❤️👍

    No matter what you think of his politics, he seems a genuine guy who has lived a life and therefore understands the challenges of life today, more than most narcissistic elite politicians. We need more politicians like him and less like the current batch or Tory elites.

    Absolutely, we need to defend and grow independent media

    • @philosophyfrog2653
      @philosophyfrog2653 2 місяці тому

      Independant media is the greatest source of propaganda because they are not regulated or held accountable when lying. You might think the more sources the easier it’ll be to filter out the objective truth from the bias but you’d be wrong. You do not have a better grasp of reality just because you can choose to listen to uncontroversial opinions, quite the opposite. It’ll make it harder for you to know what’s credible and what isn’t. It’s like ethics, there’s duty ethics and consequence ethics. 99% of the time you rely on duty ethics in order to make your decisions which is ethics you’ve learned from your parents and your countries laws and culture. The reason for this is because it would be too much work if you had to make a real rational consideration between all pros and cons of an action before making mundane decisions. Same with filtering information. You are more likely to just subscribe to whichever reality that seems to suit you best than actually analyze every piece of information available which is why information needs to be regulated by professionals one way or another.

  • @jameswarner5809

    I know it's simplistic, but to me, the logical best government for the country as a whole (as opposed to the country as a hole, which is what the current government has driven us into) has to be the most centrist party. I'm not sure if enough people have woken up and smelled the coffee for the Lib Dems to go full on rejoin. Even though they have been proven right, there are still many people who feel it was just the wrong type of Brexit (which was always going to be the case, with no majority in favour of any particular version). I just hope that they get enough seats to keep Labour honest, and between them they crush the Tories to the extent that they ditch the slide towards far-right populism which the GOP has succumbed to in the US.

    My daughter in Oxford and her rich friends are busy parties most of the time while their parents appoint teachers from the same and similar universities to prepare for their assignments and sit for remote exams.
    Their job is ready for them to grab high levels in reputable banks, white hall government service, etc.
    One of her friends got in with two Cs and failed in the rest of the subjects through her father, who knows the people inside.
    All she does is sec and drug.
    This is how corrupt Britain is now!
    These people will bring the country down faster than you can imagine.

    I think it’s such a shame that people like this with what I see as sensible and progressive ideas aren’t really taken notice of by many people. Look how few views this video has (less than 10k at the time of writing this comment). Why is this the way it is?

    Ed seems like a nice enough fella. Plus, he could soon be leader of the opposition, with luck. Unless Labour govern in a way totally distinct from the tories, he could be PM in 5 years lol. That said, we could end up back in a Johnson/Trump World, anything is possible nowadays.
