    Hi Ed,
    Thank you so much for your thoughtful review of the UltimateSensor and UltimateSensor Mini! :)
    Regarding the pointing out the variations in sensor data. It’s important to note that these sensors are self-calibrating and may require a few hours to stabilize initially. Furthermore, the CO2 levels can be manually calibrated as detailed in the manual to ensure accuracy.
    I'm committed to continually improving the product through software updates that will not only refine sensor accuracy but also introduce new features and enhance stability. For instance, I’m currently working on a local wake word feature that will significantly speed up response times-an exciting development, especially as not many ESP devices support this!
    More automation examples will also be added to the documentation soon. The ultimatesensor (mini) is relatively new and is set to expand substantially. Stay tuned for more updates and features! :D

    If they can bring the mic and speaker to the full size one I'll buy one. It's pricey, but worth every penny to have PoE

    Interesting combination of a lot of sensors, but I would not combine a presence sensor with a speaker/microphone. A presence sensor typically needs a precise position, often near a wall pointing towards the inner space. A speaker/microphone however is mostly put on a central place, eg. on a table. But it all depends on everyone's situation and usage.
    Anyway, good to have a European alternative for Lewis' Everything Presence sensor, which unfortunately is too expensive in Europe due to custom taxes.

    I had no clue that there's some Dutch guy (with an American name??) making such cool sensors.
    I make my own esphome multisensor devices but these are far more capable.
    I'll be considering these for the future!
    Unfortunate that the PoE can't be combined with voice.
    Hopefully some manufacturer will produce an esp32 chip that supports both.

    Dear Ed, as usual I enjoy your videos. They are very educational. If you make a video in the future where you do some programming.
    I would like you to explain something about keyboard shortcuts. After a lot of trying, I discovered the combination CRTL-F to replace similar texts. I saw in a video that you selected a text and moved it at the same time. I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Perhaps it is also interesting from others.

    I've never once had an PIR sensor be a whole SECOND faster than mmWave, in fact, having used PIR sensors in my smart home for years now, I would say my new mmWave sensors are as fast, if not faster, to the extent that I do not see the point of the expense of including a PIR sensor anymore.
    In my opinion, the Ultimate Sensor should have gotten rid of the display and the PIR sensor, and included a speaker and microphone instead, to truly be the "Ultimate" sensor. The PoE for me is extremely high value, but not at the expense of the speaker and mic.

    The temp and humidity measurement can be influenced by the esp chip heating up.

    I was going to finally purchase one of these, after being too stingy for a while now. I was hoping there'd be a coupon code so that you would have some sort of benefit from people ordering, and us viewers perhaps saving a few bucks (this is no criticism to you, I know it's not up to you whether or not you get coupons codes from the manufacturer).
    Then, at least when trying to order via mobile, I didn find an option NOT to purchase the mount (was 9 something, now only 7 something). So I'm out.
    The device looks lovely, and I'm sure it's money we'll spent, but while the "complete works" costs make sense to me for the sensor (development, testing, parts etc.), mandatorily being charged for a mount I could just create myself does not. (and yeah, they could just charge more for the entire device and include the mount, but in this case it's a separate item that you - at least when I tried to on mobile - cannot remove from the shopping cart.
    I would have loved having this, but I doubt I'd really _need_ it, considering I have all this already, just as separate zigbee or esphome devices.
    However, thank you for this detailed video - and making me jealous, of course ;-)

    • @dwains
      @dwains 3 місяці тому +4

      Thank you for your comment and feedback. I must say that I didn't know this issue existed. I directly fixed it on the webshop. On mobile now you also have a button "Remove product from cart" on the cart page if you want to remove something. The wallmount is by default checked yes but you can easily uncheck it on the product page, and also now just remove it on the checkout page. The wallmount also has stainless steel screws and I think the price is fair because I need to have a seperate stock for them. I had them included by default but not everybody wanted it so that's why its now an option for people :) I always listen to the feedback of people so just wanted to let you know that. Also I can not give any discount on this because the price is already good, I make really low profit on this product and I need to assemble each order by hand, give support etc. Trust me the price is already as low as possible. Also giving a coupon to Ed wouldn't be fair to all other people who already bought it before this youtube video in my opinion.

    Actually, this would be really good for the kitchen. Not only will it detect if people are in the room and Laos provides temp/humidity for the Thermal Comfort HACS addon, but also, with the VOC sensor, it can detect if something is burning, and we can create automation to open the blinds and send a notification and so on. But for $233.62AUD AKA 135 euro plus delivery, the price is too high for my blood. A

    These seem amazing sensors, I now want them 😂. The only thing that doesn’t make sense to me is why the Mini has voice and the Big version doesn’t. To me with it having the name mini, it should be the one without the voice as the big version should have the bells and whistles

    • @dwains
      @dwains 3 місяці тому +6

      Simply said: The "big version" has Ethernet+PoE, the ESP chip that you need to use for Ethernet doesn't support voice + speaker at the current state of development of esp hardware and software side. The mini on other hand uses a special esp for the voice + ethernet part which doesn't support ethernet.

    Hello from Frankfurt,
    I watched your video and was pretty excited about the ultimate sensor. Now this one arrived and I am more than a little disappointed. Cheap workmanship, an Ethernet interface that doesn't work (WLAN is OK) and sensor values that are very different from other systems (f.e. BOSCH sensor / 50 cm away).
    BOSCH O2 Measured CO2 (carbon dioxide) value 458ppm / ultimatesensor SCD41 CO2 1000 ppm
    BOSCH VOC Measured VOC value 192µg/m³ Index VOX 32 / ultimatesensor VOC Index 55
    Even temperature and humidity do not match within acceptable tolerances.
    I have saved the rest.
    But... you make nice videos. My compliment. Thomas

    Very cool devices. Where do these ship from? (Trust me I am a long way away! ) Also is the mini easier to set up and use and will it be better for local voice (with more updates etc) than the S3Box 3 devices? (which are crap). I would need a better speaker and mic than what's in the S3Box 3. (which is really a toy). Finally I assume no bluetooth? (for bluetooth trackers) Thanks!

    Very cool idea.. very much out of my budget for a single device. I'd love to have the option for no presence and only air quality (PMs, NOX, TVOC, CO2) at half the price if he's listening. I already have a lot of much cheaper Hinet presence sensors around the house.
    The voice assistant (mic+speaker) is very cool though

    • @jorismunnik4999
      @jorismunnik4999 2 місяці тому

      With non-WiFi sensors / devices you will loose the functionality of realtime reporting, as ZigBee devices in this category often only report in like 10 minutes or so. So they might report deadly CO2 levels way too late.
      But you still can go for the UTP connected version?
      And for now I'm not keen on Matter yet, it is still in it's infancy stages and not really standardised (and sometimes even usable for the average user) yet. Besides that the devices have a widely supported & highly integratable ESP sensor in it, which can be used in a broad range of home automation solutions.
