    Andrew mentioned that low to medium rev rate player bowling on a house or league pattern will generally want a long pin up/stronger ball. Does this hold true when the lanes break down? With 5 players on each team/10 players bowling down 2 lanes, the lane will break down really fast for a right handed player.
    What do you suggest? Do we move boards or ball down?
    Player information:
    late 30's, 235 lb male.
    16lb ball
    speed dominant (about 15.33 mph) with a tendency to muscle the ball
    low rev player
    accurate for a league bowler but not a pro.
    Falling into the "retired athlete turned bowler category."

    Great vid! Having gone back and thinking about all the bowling balls I've liked most over the years they've all been symmetrical except one. Which would explain why that one ball sticks out in my mind as far as how it reacted on the lanes. I need to try more asymmetrical stuff I think

    It was a pleasure meeting Andrew at the SABC Doubles Tournament in Tomball, Texas.
    I am a Rev dominant player. One of the primary concerns is hitting the pin deck light. Another concern is flat 10 issues.
    What coverstock, core type, and layout would you recommend?
    Ball track is another concern. Low Rev players tend to choose a ball track 6 - 10 boards. Alternative ball track is 16 - 19.
    What ball attributes and layout you would suggest for that middle lane track?

    Oils you also discuss any difference in drilling urethane vs reactive for tournament patterns, Nationals.

    What would you say is a good layout for the new polyester bowling balls with performance cores?

    Phil, what about layouts for lefties on house and tour?

    does pearl vs solid or ball speed matter when deciding these things? I'm high tilt 16.5 degree, 14mph and 350 rpm. I love my brutal collision drilled at 35 x 3 5/8 x 30 but dislike my 3 D attack drilled the same way. I'm going to adjust surface but wondering if it would have been a better choice to have chose a different layout. It just hook stops when moving left.

    What is a "taller pin"?

    • @joshhammonds7145
      @joshhammonds7145 2 роки тому +1

      A pin that is pretty high above the finger holes (probably more above the ring finger and kicked to the right a little bit).
      I have a taller pin on a Pandemonium Pearl, and it snaps.

      Visually higher above the fingers. In dual angle layouts, taller pins will have lower VAL angles

    This was actually a bit surprising. I don’t really understand the concept of using sharper reacting balls on house shots. I find that they bounce too much off the dry and slid too far in the oil, making the cliff even worse. How do you avoid this?

    • @snikab
      @snikab 2 роки тому +2

      Surface. That’s helps blend the cliff and smooth out the sharper response to friction.
      Also, there’s a difference between sharper- violent motion and the ball retaining its energy longer. So stored energy downlane helps create pin carry
      (Coefficients of restitution)
