This is what I hoped Hasbro would do with their Plasma series, move into figures based on Real and Extreme designs. But $100 per 6 inch figure is madness. Payment plans are silly too. You're paying even more just over a longer period.
I guess the easier question would be “As content creators, when should we say a company is taking advantage?”. They know how in demand these figures are. Because it’s the only option, it doesn’t have to be $100 per figure.

Mondo had to probably deal with: DIC, Sony, and Hasbro for these rights also. At least Mondo and Alex Brewer and the rest of the team are going to make these worth the offering with high quality and great customer service. I’m very happy with all my mondo offerings.
Couldn't Hasbro have just done Kenner themed Plasma Series figures? The vintage/retro figures they did 1. Didn't need to new toon accurate. 2. Were new sculpts. Look, I get that Hasbro having a master license might add a mouth to feed but Diamond Select had to deal with as many parties, practically, except Hasbro, and Hasbro themselves have shown willingness to partner the master license with other companies like MEGO on highly affordable products. I don't think you could convince me that you couldn't get Super7 to produce a run of minimalist 7 inchers for Hasbro Pulse at $55 a figure, even with the various hoops. And the only reason Brewer sculpts couldn't be used there (he sculpted a ton of S7 figures) is Mondo's contract with him. The real thing is whether you think Mondo is high quality. I don't think they're essentially any higher quality than S7. I think Mondo gets a lot of undeserved hype for mediocre MOTU 12 inchers and actually think their stuff is all S7 quality with S7 levels of service for double the price. Both companies occasionally have joint tolerance issues (Mondo is worse IMHO), limited articulation (very similar), and paint (S7 occasionally misses a paint app they intended to have but Mondo does too, slightly less often). Business model and customer service are very similar. They've both used a lot of the same sculptors. I think Mondo quality is severely overrated, price aside, and S7 quality negatives are overblown. When you factor in price, Mondo is basically charging you 2x as much for a very, very comparable product, so-so execution and equally niche. Compare S7's $85 Ultimates (generally 10-11") with Mondo's $200 not-quite 1/6. And I think Mondo $100 6.5 inch figures are going to be indistinguishable from a decent wave of S7 $55 7 inch figures. It's literally just S7 products with the same articulation, sculptors, and probably factories at double price with lot of unjustified hype difference. Executive Replicas or ThreeZero or NECA would make meaningfully different figures from hypothetical S7 RGB. Mondo, across the board, is largely just identical to S7 with a higher price. It's just 8 inch vinyls instead of 16 or (not quite) 12 inch figures instead of 10 inch at over double price or 6.5 inch instead of 7 inch at nearly double price. The "real" Mondo now is Bottleneck Gallery. The Mondo the YHS crowd is promoting is just a Super7 clone run by Funko at jacked up prices. Yea, there are probably several licensors to cover which is why I think the way you'd keep S7's prices low is by making them Hasbro Pulse exclusive, as Hasbro tends to be able to run tighter margins when Pulse is the exclusive retailer on partnered products, like the $35 S7 Power Rangers or $40 MEGO 4 pack. I think even with extra licensors that Hasbro could probably keep retail down to $55 each if these were S7 releases that Hasbro committed to Pulsecon exclusive quantity runs on as Pulse exclusives. Probably something like 10k ordered of each figure, Pulse exclusive, a deal to sublet to S7 in exchange for S7 taking a tight margin on them to leave bigger chunks of MSRP at $55 available to the multiple licensees. And THAT would help sell the Haslab Ecto-1.

What was the price for them? I have not heard. I am a guy in a wheelchair and have less income than the average person. So I use payment plans to make it easier for me to afford the things that I want. Just because I am confined to a wheelchair why should I go without? anyone saying that people shouldn't use payment plans to help make things more affordable for them are full of shit.
Nah you know that price is dogshit and they're basically taking advantage of you, cause let's be real here, who the hell just wants one Ghostbuster? This isn't something you dip your toe in, $800 for the whole team and some dumb ghosts? That's ridiculous, that makes Mezco multi-packs look down right fair in comparison. Other companies are making similar cartoon styled figures and I don't think any of them are in the 100's range, brother spending 200 dollars for single joints on a 6 inch figure is LUDICROUS. Also if you're doing payment plans or down payments for action figures, you're not financially responsible, at all. Plus if people can't or don't want to pay that price then the line dies and you don't get the whole team, those guys over at Mondo got some big brains on that one.
With the high price and most noping out people who buy will be sick with one figure set. It wouldn't be the people fault either. That is pretty high. It's gotten ghostbusters fans to curse at other fans. Thought the fandom was supposed to be about comradery and being there for one another. When it comes to f yours I have to take a step back and re evaluate it. Shouldn't be that way in our small geoup.
@@powerturtlebusters I believe Mondo has already committed to at least producing all 4 Ghostbusters, and I think that means at least 4 2-packs as well.
@ioncewasmikey that's what I was concerned about the most. Them doing 1 or 2 figures then dropping the line. A void. They would of been best doing single packs for 70 imo. If some want to say f me, fine. Messed up seeing how we're all supposed to be fans of this small thing. But whatever, but I think they would of sold better without being two packs. He'll even at 90 they would of sold.
@powerturtlebusters I'm not saying "f u" bro, no worries there. But they are doing the single Ghostbusters for $101 & 2packs for $202. Yes it sounds high right off the bat, but they're having to license from Hasbro, Sony & a 3rd production company who holds Real Gbs rights. Mondo 12" stuff is usually around $200, so this is more or less in keeping with that. I think the 2packs are a better deal because you're getting a big 9-10" ghost with massive alternate heads for the same price as a 6.5" Ghostbuster. The 2packs are the way to go if you're interested & can swing it. They're only releasing 1 of these per quarter, so it shouldn't be a huge burden on collectors who really want this stuff. I'm not one of them, but I don't understand the uproar over the pricing. Mondo has never & will never be cheap.

But Kenner absolutely weren’t season 1 or 2 anime style 😂
@sirstoo447 True. Kenner was it's own thing. Which is why I kept saying I wish it had kenner heads and animated heads. Didn't say kenner was season 1 design. Idk if I worded it to sound that way. So basically saying I'm fine with my kenner ones and for these I'd rather they look like season 1 and 2 over q5 later seasons and included kenner heads
I wanted the four main characters not the monsters too. They stuffed up
Credit is for cars and homes not toys
💯 agree with everything Jacob said.

The design is spot on but Mondo can keep their product with those awful prices. Glad I'm a vintage collector. I rather spend 1000 bucks on vintage stuff.
haha people are DUMB. These will be some of the most expensive collectibles I've ever gotten, sure, but I've waited my whole life for something this GOOD. Keyword being good. It's worth it for me. Don't want em, don't get em. Simple as that.
I like jacob.... new subscriber🤜🤛
Thanks for subbing!

I echo Jakes sentiments 😅
Thanks for covering this. I am pushing for you all and GDL to have a first review before we buy!
RIP Mondo Ghostbusters ( dead at birth)
@@americo01able Do you really think Mondo expected this to be their most successful product line or something?
