From the point of view of familiarity, portability and workflow for the club equipment Nexus-series,this is much better than the SX2. For functions and versatility in performance, the SX2 is more capable hands-down. anyway it's totally 2 different thing to compare... lets see what's in the update RZ model soon...Cheers!
This is SO MUCH better then the XDJ R1, that controller was just shitty, this one got everything. Really happy Pioneer finally brings something like this on the market!

Nice review I've got mine ordered and I'm just waiting for it to arrive, back ordered unfortunately. One thing I noticed is you mentioned the inability to have more than just the two decks and no ability to connect cdjs or vinyl. But that's incorrect there are specific phono inputs for two vinyl players or two cdjs using proline. By switching the deck input from usb to line/phono you can effectively control 4 channels with just the two channel layout if you connect two cdjs or two turntables. You wouldn't be able to mix decks 1&3 or 2&4 because the switch stops playback from the other deck but you can have four items cued up from multiple sources, and a little mojo will let you utilize all four to make a great mix.
This controller looks awesome, waiting for mine to arrive always been a huge fan on Pioneer Dj products, was about to order the Traktor S8 a week before the XDJ-RX was announced but that went out the window when i noticed it had no jog wheel... massive fail in my opinion. Pioneer always delivers quality
yeah he's heavy handed. way too touchy for an expensice piece of gear like this. i figure sonce he sells these units its not tje same as when u drop 1'000$ on one and u need it to make money as a local dee-jay like many of us.. u will tend to take better care of your gear when it puts money in ur account...

I have just got my RX up & running. While using it a few things I can work out to change. 1. when I activate a Auto Loop it starts playing. Is there a way of setting the loop with out it automatically playing? 2. While the track is in 'Pause' and I move the jog wheel if I let go it snaps back to the beginning of the track. How can I change that so I can scroll through the track with the jog wheel? That's it for now, but I'm sure there will be more once I've played with it more.
I have recently purchased the rx and when i launch rekordbox whilst connected through the lan cable my rekord doesnt pick up the rx?? Is there drivers i have to install or is there something inside of rekordbox that i have to change??

Dj hellos, I have a question! for the new RX-PIONNER XDJ to analyze the pieces as its happening? - Our whole pc on my music on a USB key well is the branch has the plate and when it loads the songs direct analysis and if it saves my cue each point? or - Must spend all our music on rekordbox to analyze pieces and place the cue point and meter all in a folder and the meter on the USB key?

Hi, no the sx and rx are very different items , no samples on rx ..but the sx is just a midi controller , that is fine if you want a midi controller . The rx is so much more , a proper 2 channel mixer with quality fx found in the legendary djm900 nexus . The rx is all about record box as well , which is fast becoming the industry standard way to play music as a dj . Its not the sx2 is a bad item , it is excellent if your looking for a midi controller its probably the best on out there in my opinion . But for me XDJ-RX and rekordbox all the way
BlÖsLProductions might be wrong but I believe the ddj-sx2 is also stand alone assuming you have two different devices to input sounds....i.e. two CDJ2000's.
BlÖsLProductions true haha....just defending my sx2 DJ Jun If you don't mind the Laptop, i would get the SX2. There's so much more you can do with the DDJ-SX2 in terms of features, effects, future expansion with DVS, and 4-channels. The MPC pads are also fantastic. For me, I don't have time to learn how to DJ without laptops because I rely heavily on the wave-form (a bad-habit, i know) so I can easily match phrases of my songs. The DDJ-SX2 is perfect for me. Rekordbox (and eliminating the need for a laptop) is, IMO, the only real reason to get the XDJ-RX. If you play at clubs a lot and use DJM900's+CDJ2000's, you should definitely get the XDJ-RX because you can cue your songs and carryover the cuepoints to other DJ equipment that uses RekordBox. The skill of learning how to DJ without a laptop ('real djing") also translates well into industry club equipment.

DJ Jun the XDJ -RX is a great device. really good. thing is, for a 2 channel/2 deck controller it is way too overpriced. Of course, the XDJ is set above the DDJ range. but value for money, you get a lot more with the DDJ-SX(2).
from where I can get the stand you are using? whats the specs of it. I bough my RX but no flight cases available yet and need a stand for a temp solution now.
this is probably a stupid question but, can I play videos? maybe connected to a laptop? I like the concept to have no laptop while playing but some clubs ask the dj to play with videos.

Is there instant doubles on this unit? With or without the laptop? Such. As serato, I can play the same song on both decks and beat juggle and mess with it. Does the xdjrx do it?

Get the Stanton SCS.DJ4, it has auto-dj function that crossfades and even beatmatches songs for you. You could basically do a whole set without setting a foot on the stage.

I'm curious, since you've used the cdj2000 nexus and dj-rx , do you think someone using the xdjrx at home can have a somewhat easier transition and familiar experience if asked to play at a club or venue that carries the CDj 2000 nexus on any given day? hi Joe , this perfect to get to grips with and is a very similar dj experience, if you can use an rx ...you will step up to a cdj nexus no problem , it will just be a richer experience.
I have not connected my usb into a rekordbox system (computer), is that way when I load my tracks into my deck it does NOT show the waveform on the screen!!! Please help
+Robb T (Dj Ro3) You can plug your usb in the rx and the music will play....there will be no waveforms though and you will be losing a lot of stuff (tempo information etc)...

I scrolled through the comments and haven't found what I'm about to ask With the XDJ RX do you need your laptop plugged in even if you use the USB ports? If not this would make it 1,000 better than the Numark NV
Yeah you can plug a laptop in and use rekordbox but it's not performance software it's more of preparation software. By having it connected to your laptop you can use your computers library of tracks on rekordbox and use some of the track prep features as well as having a tactile keyboard to search through big libraries of music. You can also plug it in and use it as a midi controller for traktor because their are some mappings you can download for it. The screen won't work but you can control quite a bit of traktor with it, but I wouldn't buy such an expensive and unique unit to use as a midi controller that you could get for 200-300 dollars, this is meant to be used by itself with flash drives or external drives and no laptop.

really thinking of getting one of these but i do have a question can or could i add samples whilst mixing as i see i dont think i can do this or would i have to add another piece of hardware, just so you no i currently have a traktor kontrol s4 and ableton suite 9, hope you get what i mean.
You would need to use another controller and a laptop running abortion or other dj software then route the audio into the xdj and then use the xdj to take care of the rest until the master output. Another option is to use the unit as a midi controller for ableton or traktor and then other midi controllers with it controlling different parts of the software but if you're gonna do that buy a midi controller that's way cheaper because this is too expensive of a stand alone unit to be used for midi
I saw a review on the Denon MCX8000 and he said that the software is still buggy (hangs and stops music). MCX8000 is 4 channels and much more feature rich and but I think reliability comes first. I hope a 4 channel version of XDJ-RX comes out with dual screens :-)
I thought the fucking effects "on and off" Hutton was my killswitch or something on my rx Lmao. I guess that's what I get from going from Numark mix track pro II directly to Pioneer xdj-rx. The tutorial helped alot especially with the effects next to deck 2 I had no idea how to activate those. My biggest concern is naming cue points. In serato I would name cue point (32, 16,8, etc) for phrasing. Can I do this on the rx or change the color of the cue points?
well, i confirm what i just said, the track had a big silence coming up... I now have purchased the XDJ-RX, and it doesn't go silent at all when you press the various browse menus. No worries there :)
I'm really considering swapping my sz for this.... But at the same time I love the full size jogs an jog tension adjust. But pioneer beat fx kill any serato fx imo. Plus I don't really use any more than 2 channels. Decisions decisions lol Anyone have a rx and wanna swap?
Why does he have t hit the pads so hard. It;s really annoying, no need to do that! I have one of these and they don't need to be smacked around like. A little more finesse is all it takes.

u can play non analysed files, but u wont get all the benefits

Yeah you can plug a laptop in and use rekordbox but it's not performance software it's more of preparation software. By having it connected to your laptop you can use your computers library of tracks on rekordbox and use some of the track prep features as well as having a tactile keyboard to search through big libraries of music. You can also plug it in and use it as a midi controller for traktor because their are some mappings you can download for it. The screen won't work but you can control quite a bit of traktor with it, but I wouldn't buy such an expensive and unique unit to use as a midi controller that you could get for 200-300 dollars, this is meant to be used by itself with flash drives or external drives and no laptop.

really thinking of getting one of these but i do have a question can or could i add samples whilst mixing as i see i dont think i can do this or would i have to add another piece of hardware, just so you no i currently have a traktor kontrol s4 and ableton suite 9, hope you get what i mean.

You would need to use another controller and a laptop running abortion or other dj software then route the audio into the xdj and then use the xdj to take care of the rest until the master output. Another option is to use the unit as a midi controller for ableton or traktor and then other midi controllers with it controlling different parts of the software but if you're gonna do that buy a midi controller that's way cheaper because this is too expensive of a stand alone unit to be used for midi
What do you think of this compared to the Denon MCX8000?
I saw a review on the Denon MCX8000 and he said that the software is still buggy (hangs and stops music). MCX8000 is 4 channels and much more feature rich and but I think reliability comes first. I hope a 4 channel version of XDJ-RX comes out with dual screens :-)
I thought the fucking effects "on and off" Hutton was my killswitch or something on my rx Lmao. I guess that's what I get from going from Numark mix track pro II directly to Pioneer xdj-rx. The tutorial helped alot especially with the effects next to deck 2 I had no idea how to activate those. My biggest concern is naming cue points. In serato I would name cue point (32, 16,8, etc) for phrasing. Can I do this on the rx or change the color of the cue points?

well, i confirm what i just said, the track had a big silence coming up... I now have purchased the XDJ-RX, and it doesn't go silent at all when you press the various browse menus. No worries there :)
Have u tried the RX with Rekordbox DJ. I see that there is support for the RX now.
haven't used rekordbox dj yet. Only use the non-dj rekordbox. I don't fancy using a laptop when the RX is made to do it all by itself :)
