Chinese authorities have set up a high-level team to investigate food transport standards, after a report by The Beijing News alleged tanker trucks used to transport chemicals were also carrying cooking oil without cleaning between shipments. The mainland newspaper, which published the report on July 2, 2024, said the practice was a cost-saving measure. The scandal has sparked public outcry and prompted the Chinese State Council’s Food Safety Commission to order the probe.

I think you are wrong. The fact that a government spokesman came out to speak about it means they are planning to do something about it and make themselves look like an hero. Otherwise, they would have buried it under the rug.

They were punished. Some were executed. But there will always be people who are willing to break the laws for profits. Take drug trafficking as another example. In a number of countries, people found guilty were executed. Yet, there will be some who still will do it. Globally, we still have a huge drug trafficking problem.
      That's human greed.

What, not cleaning? You’re not supposed to use trucks carrying chemicals for oil used for food, PERIOD. You’ll never going to able to assure a thorough clean out of the chemical in the container to make it safe for food oil.

I learnt the other day that large container ships with their holds full of coal for shipment, once the load has been emptied, they just hose down the inside of the hold and fill it with the next shipment which could be grain or rice.
The grain or rice isn’t packaged in any way whatsoever, it’s just dumped in the same hold that recently carried coal.

When food safety isn't a guarantee, and every meal pollutes your body, you must hold your government accountable and fight for your very wellbeing. Officials claiming they'll take measures won't do anything but quiet public outcry. Do you think gutter oil is a thing of the past? Far from it, I've witnessed it just a few days ago.

Tankers for food oils or liquids are not to be used for any other purpose at all. Looking at the comments below, about food quality in China, no wonder consumers around the world refuse to use Chinese food products.
