For the engineer, the give your drone an extra weapon you can get Scanner which makes each drone fire a marking explosion out every 6s. With the family swarm, that's four marking explosions every 6s. With those 2 perks you can have everything marked and clap every thing. And then you wouldn't need bowl.

Throw some cryo on top of that and not only do you have marked enemies you have frozen enemies and those two combined literally kill everything. Cryo swarm build is my got to and i have legitimately not lost a single run since
6:07 You are potentially overvaluing hourglass. You mention that on pen and paper it seems like an even trade off, but keep in mind that when you multiplicatively stack a 25% loss with a 25% gain it is a net loss.
Damage becomes 5/4ths of what it was while fire rate becomes 3/4ths. (5/4)*(3/4) = 15/16 < 1, but as you suggested this does not account for reload time.
I did some calculations and it looks like (assuming you are always in combat) it is only worth taking if the time you spend reloading is at least 1/3rd of the time you spend shooting. It becomes worse if you do out of combat reloads
For anyone interested in the calculation, d is damage, ts is time spent shooting, tr is time spent reloading:
(5/4)d / ((4/3) ts + tr) >= d / (ts + tr)
5/4 >= ((4/3) ts + tr) / (ts + tr)
5/4 (ts + tr) >= ((4/3) ts + tr)
(5/4)ts + (5/4)tr >= (4/3) ts + tr
(1/4)tr >= (4/3) ts - (5/4)ts
(1/4)tr >= (16/12) ts - (15/12)ts
(1/4)tr >= (1/12) ts
tr >= (1/3) ts
Your math below is painful to look at. How did you arrive at 1/3 reload time? To break even, wouldn't it need to be 1/17th of your time? Maybe I'm dumb, so ima make up a weapon here.
Magazine: 8
Damage: 10
Firerate: 2 shots per second
No reload: 80 damage in 4 seconds (20 dps)
0.5s reload: 80 damage in 4.5 seconds (17.778 dps)
1s Reload. 80 damage in 5 seconds (16 dps)
1/3 time of shooting/1.33s: 80 Damage in 5.33 Seconds (15.01 dps)
2s reload: 80 damage in 6 seconds (13.333 dps)
With the item:
Magazine: 8
Damage: 12.5
Firerate: 1.5 shots per second
No reload: 100 damage in 5.33 seconds (18.76 dps)
0.5s reload: 100 damage in 5.83 seconds (17.15 dps)
1s Reload. 100 damage in 6.33 seconds (15.8 dps)
1/3 time of shooting/1.777s: 100 Damage in 7.11 Seconds (14.065 dps)
2s reload: 100 damage in 7.33 seconds (13.64 dps)
Well, it appears to be worse than you said. You need a really long reload.
@@VroomNDoom2602 You recalculated the reload time for the "with the item" section, but the item does not change reload speed. When you listed 1.7777 there it should have been 1.3333 which is 1/3 of 4 (the base time spent shooting with no item, as you calculated prior). Then 100/(5.333333+1.333333) = 15, so with and without item break even.
I suppose I should have been more clear, the condition is that your time to reload must be at least 1/3rd of whatever amount of time it takes you to spend all ammo without the item.

definitely would be helpful but tbh for the amount of editing that it requires, it's gonna be a pain and maybe not worth it for him

Uhhh just wanted to thank you for sharing this, absolutely helped me tear Hard on Dual Stingers. Except for the IRIS fight, it was a piece of cake! I'd love to see a video where you beat the game with a Sulfator Shotgun with whichever character you think is worth it.

I was running the windmill rifle yesterday on my first guardian 1 run using guardian. I got the cd along with the other increases to firerate along with the infinite ammo stuff and man it just shredded everything.
I never really notice the ontomontopia when I'm playing but, I absolutely love it when I'm watching the game lmfao

the explaining of stuff is great, i missed out some things from the gameplay and it really helped.
I love doing a burn damage build with the beluga cannon on engineer its absolute carnage.
The lynx rifle with ranger and the javelin upgrades for crits is just absolutely bonkers
Nice, love cryo mastery builds on engineer. Cryo Mastery was what enabled my first win in Roboquest.
it feels like the windmill rifle is just a straight upgrade to the normal lmg
I just stumbled onto a similar build on my fourth ever engineer run. I ended up doing a burn/shock windmill (not being familiar with the mastery path affixes yet), but it was still CRAZY strong compared to every other build I've played so far! My DPS really hit the roof when I grabbed the perk that gives bonus non-elemental damage to burning enemies - that plus bots marking was melting.
I just did a full bonk hammer build on Guardian, if you use the firework launcher and just build full defense + bash damage it gets insane. I feel like you'll love it.

Have you tried elementalist?
It has the option to give you 1.5 seconds unlimited ammo and increased firerate AND reload your weapon, every time trinity switches.
And if you reduce the trinity cycle time in combination with a weapon that can keep shooting until the trinity cycles, you can just hold that trigger down without ever reloading.
That in combination with the ability to put whatever trinity element is up on your gun as well is extremely strong and fun!
On top of that i think it has the strongest base abilities in the game.

Is there a particular reason you go oasis-doom gardens instead of quarry? Quarry gives you that free level from the excavation site, so you get an upgrade plus the extra health from leveling. Doom gardens gives you just an upgrade with no extra health. Is there something I'm missing that makes it a better choice?

Hi! I’m really enjoying your videos. I’m an achievement hunter who plays consistently well at a G1/G2 level with a partner but only can beat hard on solo. I’ve been trying to find good UA-cam resources for this game and you’re definitely one of the best-keep it up!
I have three questions that I would be eternally grateful if you answered:
(1) why do you keep the buddy bot but never use him? Does he provide a passive boost to the drones?
(2) are freeze/burn the best element combos? Anecdotally, shock seems like trash, but I’m curious what you think.
(3) is this the optimal route for beating G4? We’ve been doing a shorter route and we seem to be under-leveled by the time we get to the City. Im starting to think guaranteed Orange is a must.
With engi, you should Deploy (Q) as often as you can!

I know you don't like to use the sheriff carbine but it's got some potential if you use it with commando it's got insane single shot damage if you choose the right upgrades

I love your content and I wanted to ask if you could do an elementalist and voltaic cannon run. I tried it and it was supper fun. Also I love your content and your gameplay.
I would like to see u do a shock build ngl, i wonder what u could cook up with that. Cuz u can do a lot of damage with shock mastery and good ricochet perks/weps/items.
Also u should try the chainsaw with any class (but guardian cuz thats boring). Its a lot of fun.
I do agree that Cryo is incredible, but I think for high fire-rate weapons, you just stack burn so fast that the burn ticks end up doing ridiculous damage.
Electric damage is... Definitely not that great though sadly

Love the videos :) i wanna ask you to reconsider your position on the buddybot/drones/kangaroo turrets build. You said it wasn't active enough and i didn't think it would be for me either but managing keeping 4 drones alive and maintaining uptime on 2 buddy bots and 2 sentries while keeping up good movement it's surprisingly engaging and i think you might like it more than you think
Hi, appreciate the support! I don’t upload all of my runs. I have done this run before and won with it. I’m just not that big of a fan personally. It’s like this with a ton of weapons too. I’ve used just about everything but I’m just not a fan of everything. Different strokes for different folks it all it is.
