- This year, our Show celebrates 20 years of bringing you great stories from around the Pacific.
Tonight, we begin a 2-part special screening of a special TV coverage by the Pacific Way Team a few years ago, of the state funeral of one of Fiji’s true statesman.
In 2004, Fiji and indeed the Pacific mourned the loss of Ratu Sir Kamisese Kapaiwai Tuimacilai Mara, a former prime minister, former president, a true statesman and a father of Fiji.
A humble giant and towering Chief and even called the Father of the Pacific - to whom even the founding PM of Png looked up to him as Inspiration...
I was so blessed when the Late Ratu Mara attended my Graduation @ UPNG, after I returned from USP Suva in 1981 to complete my final year at UPNG..
Late Ratu Mara was the guest of Honor at my graduation - the 25th Graduation in 1982 Msrch.
I salute !!! You Late Ratu Mara..

I attended this funeral as a little boy. RIP to Ratu Kamisese Mara, RIP my grandfather Ratu Jese Maimanuku

isa... will never forget the three days we spent at government house with all our extended family during this time... na uvu davui especially and those eerie sounds... expressing our grief and sorrow... a nation in mourning...
