The kids that visit your store and play on the pinball machines are going to look back when they're an adult and have plenty of amazing memories. You have such a unique, friendly place. The nostalgia will be real.

I’m new to your channel,I just want to say thank you, what you and your family and close friends do I think is fantastic.I’ve spent the last week binge watching while recovering from covid which I’ve had for 9 weeks and you have kept me sane
Meeting you Alex and visiting your amazing shop is definitely on my bucket list. I could spend hours looking around at all the cool & unique stuff you have. There's something so uplifting about your personality. On my blue days I turn on one of your videos and my spirits totally change. Best of luck to you and Melissa with each turn you take in life!
Have faith Alex, everything will work out. Visualisation is a great tool, you just need to release it, relax and believe. Congrats on your house, I completely understand & you guys should be proud!
I love watching your shows. I live for antiquing and enjoy visiting my regular spots as well as exploring new places. I mainly focus on toy cars and military items, but I enjoy looking at everything.
As a kid growing up we had the 1966 Gottlieb Central Park pin ball machine. I could not take it to my first condo I bought in the early 80’s because it was so big so my parents sold it. Since we did not have much in the way of video games that was the entertainment of the day for kids and adults. Gottlieb was a top manufacture. Pin ball machines are a blast to play.
So happy to hear that you didn't have to stress too long over spending your money on paying off your home! You did the right thing at the right time, it was meant to be!
You and your family are such an inspiration. Paying off your house is a brilliant decision. Hoping to have your foundation for the addition done by the end of October is another. Having fun amidst it all is a no brainer. You and your family are wonderful. Cheers.
Dear Mr. Archbold. 👍👌👏 Very well done again and as always. But, Sir, don't you remember? It's concrete and still not cement! 😁 Best regards, luck, and health and wisdom.

I was just about ready to go find the website of the firehouse light bulb...when you mentioned it. :-) Re: Pinball machines. During the 70s, I operated a small chain of ice cream stores. We had pinball machines and air hockey, and we debuted the (then) new video type games. If you come across the "Jumping Jack" pinball game, check it out. It was my favorite, and the kids used to love watching me play. Most of the kids were just tall enough to see over the top of the game, and the regulars knew that I didn't like the kids breathing on my wrists while I was playing, and they'd warn the newcomers to please stand back. Ahh...memories!
My uncle Claude was an engineer, he went to the Philips lightbulb factory in the Netherlands in the sixties. They had a huge panel with tons of lightbulbs on it, and my uncle was told it was used to monitor their lifespan. The goal being to produce batches that had a predictable lifespan. I can't recall any more details as I was a kid when this story was... impressed upon me. My first notion of planned obsolescence!
@@historyatwar6230 It's REALLY good. I don't know if a historian or costume expert would be thrilled, but it looks and seems credible enough for lay people. It's an easy binge.
That Remington typewriter was exactly the typewriter I learned to type on in high school typing class. To pass the class, you had to type 60 words per min. On that typewriter your hands and fingers got so tired. 60 wpm was so slow by the time I began working, and I had to type 90 wpm once electric typewriters came around. (And NO spelling errors) that was 1967. How far we have come in 50+ yrs
As ever , an enjoyable video . Thanks for keeping us up to date with the goings on . I really liked that railway show , and didn’t know what happened to it .
The way incandescent filaments work you can make them thicker to last longer, but then you need more energy pumped into them to get the same amount of light, or less light with the same amount of energy. Light bulbs are already pretty cheap so this energy use is pretty important. That 100 year light bulb has likely cost more in energy costs than replacing better optimized light bulbs every year or two.
In 1971 when i was in college i played a lot of pinball machines. I like the new one you bought. Lots of fun. Wotan was my favorite because it released extra balls.
Tungsten light bulbs last much longer if they are left on. Switching them on and off is a definite life shortener. During WW2, the triode valves (tubes with tungsten filaments) of the Collossus computers (at Bletchley Park) were left running 24/7 in order to avoid short life problems.
Hi Alex! I've been watching your videos for years now and i just want to say that you inspire me to create my own dream job, so I can work with something I love doing in the future. I would also love to come and visit the store one day when its safe to travel again. Wishing you and your family the best weekend all the way from Sweden🍁

Well done for paying off your mortgage, that was such a good thing to do! And you see, the universe knew you were feeling uncomfortable about no cash flow and send in the dealer to you 😊
I watched that show, it was really good. I recognize a lot of the outfits. The one in front with the light brown coat & leather vest was worn by the main character.
Edison did invent the everlasting light bulb you are quite correct, but as you stated business people want to sell you things that have inbuilt obsolescence. Examples? Air conditioners, barbecues, heaters etc.🙂
Picked up a 1965 Honda Dream today. And a few other parts bikes. I felt bad so I paid her for them. Lol it was on a scrap pickup. Going to see if I can get it at least partially running since I gotta get paperwork on it.
The lightbulb, originally installed in 1901 in Livermore, CA is still glowing, though it is now quite dim. I used to live down the street, and was actually about a block from there today.
Alex, i know you and your Father both like and liked 1950s music.....and while looking at the old Western clothes here, reminded me of how the "Teddy Boys" of 1950s UK dressed. The name Teddy Boys cameto to be because they wore clothes that resembled that of the Edwardian style...and you can see here the long 3/4 length jackets with velvet collars and pocket flaps @2:39...they also wore brightly coloured waistcoats and Kentucky style ties....they also had long sideburns or (mutton chops) just as the Edwardians did.........Edward, Teddy....how they got their name.
Alex, the piece of mind you get when you own your own home is not to be underrated. As long as you pay the taxes you should be pretty secure. Also, not having a mortgage payment frees up a lot of money each month and in a year. Just bankroll what you would have been paying for the mortgage and you will have money to spend again in no time. When I got downsized out of my museum job I would have lost my house if I had a mortgage. I work part time at a convenience store, have an ebay store and my own you tube this year as I need a new heater asap. It is a struggle but I have just one more tax to pay and then I can funnel everything into a new heater. Kinda scary when they make you sign that use at your own risk waiver. But you have the store and an open auction house to help. You will be ok. Just take a deep breathe and be patient.
Alex there was a story going about when I was younger that a guy designed and patent a life time bulb. The known bulb company "Phillips" brought the design. They have hidden it as there is loads of money in bulbs breaking and need replacing

Using a dimmer switch with antique tungsten bulbs can dramatically extend the lifespan. It prevents the sudden surge of voltage. Cool find.
