Those climbing aids you found as rock climbers left behind, now being crumbled off the rock tells me that cowboy glifts would be under the rock debris that has already flacked off.
I don’t even know where to begin. This is the first time I EVER watched a UA-cam video that was just short of 60 minutes long but you made it educational, suspenseful, and at times, thrilling watching you navigate your way to Lone Rock and other areas. When you got to the location I think behind Lone Rock, I was like he’s not going in there and sure enough you went in there and kept going until you couldn’t go no further. I’m sitting here like this is insane! I’m all for exploring and all but you were all alone out there and you didn’t seem to care. You are obviously an experienced hiker. I couldn’t do that but it was very fascinating to watch and listen to your commentary. I don’t know how you held your phone that long. If God forbid something did happen where you needed help, did you have a cell phone signal out there. I just watched a video that was shot in 2021 and there was water there and people in the water on the beach side, and I even added it to a list of places I want to visit when I come there in May and then I saw this video of no water.😮 I still may check it out but won’t be doing the exploring you did though lol. Awesome job with this video!!!
I appreciate the feedback. I was very familiar with the area when it had water. Yeah depending on some location. Cell service is a little iffy but the best thing to do is tell someone when they expect you to call or be home. If it doesn’t meet that timeline, then something has happened. SAD. My wife and I were at Lake Powell for Memorial Weekend 2021 and there was plenty of water at lone rock. Sad to see it like this just 2 years later
I have a Paige Az. story we were coming back from a store run, we were camping across from Lone Rock. We came across a car accident, 3 or 4 guys (this happened in the late 70's or early 80's,) if I remember correctly they were driving fast and crashed through the chain link fence, at the bridge coming from Paige, the only thing that kept them from going over the edge was the chain link fence tangled in their wheels, they were at the very edge, the guys did not move an inch and obviously having an extreme moment. We watched as the tow truck driver put a cable on the underside of the car and srartedto pull them back up. They received the Luckiest Darwin Award.
43:12 We used to use our stand up jet ski in that canyon, we rode on our knees so we would cut down on the possibility of crashing into the steep wall and having to swim back to the campground on the other side of Lone Rock, super fun.
Lake meads water supply, reservoirs up above will have to refill too! With the snow melt some of these reservoirs will get some water. Then what? This will not solve the water issue. They will bleed these reservoirs till there's no water left.
Opening shot is where I camped last September during a massive thunderstorm that flooded the area. If that rain had gone on for a few days it would have filled the lake to capacity.
Cool adventure. I spent several vacations houseboating on Lake Powell in the 90's - an amazing experience, like exploring on another planet. This video brings back some great memories. I remember the slot canyons were everywhere, and constantly changing with the water level. Ask Aron Ralston about slot canyons in the desert southwest. Thats all petrified wood you can clearly see the rings if you check minute 25:40 and pouse it you can see a huge tree branch and a knot you can see the details and lines of prehistoric giant chunk of tree 😮😮😮

I’ve been there (Lone Rock) many times. Fabulous views, ORV trails, social opportunities during high or low water. Your “sing song” narration - is annoying making your work un listenable.

Very nice Lake that I have never seen before. At first I thought I was seeing the Dam by Vegas. Kinda similar with overhead bridge in the background.
Glen Canyon Dam is upstream from the Hoover dam. But they are very similar.

It’s definitely a lot of mixed emotions. Born and raised on the lake it’s sad to see it go down. Also, it’s interesting to see it low.
