my idea for a new one of these is that Scooter is a adult now working for a computer lab he finds Mr Chips later in his storage rental & reactivates him & they discuss the Internet, safety etc make it like a 20 min video hehe
It really is strange to think that back then, 2012 was so ahead. In 3018, will people look at things like UA-cam or even Disney World and think of them as relics? Food for thought!
I smiled when this song mentioned making art with numbers. That's how we got pixel art and video game sprites and graphics after all, and on a larger scale on mainframes and workstations, we even started to make 3D art and animations. When music was mentioned, my first thought was the Fairlight CMI which does the same thing with short samples, but it could also make me think of simple tunes playing on an old msdos games or elaborate songs made on a Commodore 64, or even the introduction of MIDI controllers in the 80s! Nowadays, we can do a lot more on computers. Realistic 3D graphics, editing songs recorded in the highest quality, watch videos, listen to online radio stations or podcasts. It's amazing to think of how far we've come, or even how far computers have come since the mid 2000s when I started watching youtube and downloading songs for my mp3 player as a kid.
Okay. This is the best "computer" School House Rock. Really not too bad with explaining what computers actually do. Nice use of a baseball team and jersey numbers.
so after scooter tossed mr.chips in the trash he went to go find work and wound up teaching a red guy a green bird and a yellow dude the same dated knowledge
Scooter Computer had a falling out with Mr. Chips after porn arrived on the internet. Instead of crunching numbers, all Scooter wanted to do was the old knuckle shuffle on his skin flute. Eventually Mr. Chips was so full of malware and viruses that he' had to break up with Scooter just so he could feel healthy again. It's a tragic story.
This was a GREAT video - a SECRET: I'm a NUMBER CRUNCHER of sorts (i.e. I LOVED math so much, I took nearly EACH class to see HOW far I'd go - some of these courses in COLLEGE proved to be BAD for me!)
To be fair, if you've ever dealt with programs like Excel (or even just a simple calculator app), you're likely to still see this kind of stuff demonstrated. Back then, businesses used programs like Lotus 1-2-3 and a separate graphing program to record their data and even show it in a presentation showing profits and losses. ^_^
2:060:51 The intro starts with the Children's Television Workshop logo shifting into an artistic drawing of a cross and two stars to the one on the logo. Honeycomb is riding a Honeyjarcopter. Nickcheezy and Quincy riding a airplane with a flag. A flag pops up with the USA animation studio's name (PBS, Nelvana). The whole view of Cassie's Land was shown. Honeycomb sings some parts. Bob and Manny hammers. Cassie's parents are waving goodbye. Cassie rides a skateboard and throws the newspaper to Baby Hugs Bear and Baby Tugs Bear, ripping their diapers. Baby Hugs Bear and Baby Tugs Bear's kite flies. Trueheart Bear and Nobleheart Horse looks both ways and whistles. Scooter and Mr.Chips skateboarding, and rolling along and falls down with gems. Care Bears and Care Bear Cousins drives the cloudmobile and the rainbow rollers sees the gem. Tennessee Tuxedo and Chumley sees the gem. Mac, Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo and Coco are hunting. The characters are singing along. Bob and Manny finally fixes the clock. The show's logo appears.
I remember this cartoon Scooter Computer and Mr Chips as a young teenager back then. It was second favorite, my first favorite is School House Rock. Both go hand and hand but they don't make great cartoons. Mostly nowadays are evil, vulgar, stupidity, bloody, blasphemous, and sexuality.

Pre internet computers sucked. You could crunch numbers, then you could draw, and that was it. Now we have chatrooms to chat on and UA-cam to upload UA-cam Poops to (and subsequently have that same poop deleted after Viacom bitches to the Team about it).
Thanks so much for uploading these. I didn't know they existed until today. Now I wish I hadn't. These are f***ing TERRIBLE!!! Thank god these weren't shown to the public!

Mr. Chips is probably sitting in a good will right now
Let's hope LGR finds him soon!
More like a museum, honestly.

2:06 - Now that's a weird coincidence. Back when this was made, 2012 was in the distant future, and now it's already in the past - my how time flies.

also it would take the same amount of time to do the work

these are great for computer geek nostalgia . . .
Living in an age where computers are used for like every freaking thing ever, this is old news.
Well this was back back in either the late 70s or early 80s
To be fair, if you've ever dealt with programs like Excel (or even just a simple calculator app), you're likely to still see this kind of stuff demonstrated. Mr. Chips sounds like some kinda sick man that does weird things to numbers...
are you REFERRING to HAL from "2001: A Space Odyssey"?

The concept of computers being a number cruncher is intriguing.

These ones are good too like the rest of Schoolhouse Rock and useful for middle schoo.
They were shown on TV but only in the early 80s due to becoming quickly dated.

It's not that the song itself is dated. It's the fact that Mr. Computer is clearly based on old, obsolete models of computers.
