Great drone video, footage What's happening is very clear. I just need clarity on the rudder positioning terminology and am confused as to which way the rudder is positioned in each maneuver. I don't have thrusters on my 53' Hatteras and would love to learn how to do this.
Position the rudder away from where you want to go. So the nice thing is, whether you're parking bow in or out, your wheel should be away from the dock anyways. So if you're a little off the dock, inside reverse outside forward, and the wheel is already where you need it Edit: I am referring to inboard boats, the one in the demonstration is a stern drive
great video, can you tell me what direction you turn the wheel with port forward and starboard reverse? I know you have to adjust but would like to know where to start. Thank you
You do know you don’t have to be cranking on the wheel all the time simply turn hard over and use inputs from both engines same as you were much easier
Excellent! i have one question, if I want to hold position offshore fishing during strong wind and current, Do you think twin engines are good enough for this or you have to have bow thruster to make it easier?
Which way to turn the wheel? Watching the video several times, it appears that the skipper turns the wheel fully towards the side of the engine to be engaged. Hard port, port reverse; then hard starboard, starboard forward. Feel free to double check me.
Man I just collided with with a boat last night at a tricky transient dock in wind (blown sideways against it), and about three people told me to never touch the steering wheel. So what’s correct? Hahah
It’s a good tip, it simplifies everything, but you have that tool in your arsenal so if you’re comfortable and competent with it as you can see in the video, it can make things easier
One of the better ones of this maneuver
Great info captain 💯

Hi, I like your boat

Exactly
Please indicate which way to turn the wheel as you engage each engine in order to move the boat to the dock. That's the missing part

That's not using rudder. That's using stern drive. But still good stuff!
yeah, huge difference between stern drive and I/O manuevers, having done both
Cool video man. ! Going to sub u:)
Need to see the controls lol
if you want to show your skill?? come to port orford OR and do that!!
That would be great!
Swedes And A Boat Hi! Can I have your email pls.? Have some question:) send me on jsultanaperegin@ymail.com. Thanks!
