My tip is to learn a bit at a time. You don't need to fully master this weapon to perform well on hunts. What I did was learn one combo at a time. Learn the basics of charging and then just go on a hunt. Practice until you got it down without thinking about it, finish the hunt, then learn another thing. Hunt with the new thing on top of the last and keep doing that. You'll get it down quicker than you might think, it's not that bad. Don't be intimidated, the Charge Blade is a lot of fun!
This is a great tip! I find that a lot folks don’t properly utilise the training area either. It’s such a great place to start a new weapon before actually taking it out on a hunt!
@@MyChannel-g6f7l Totally agree. I learn the combo in the training ground. Once I feel like I'm ready, I go bother a monster. Then I hunt until I don't have to think about how to do the combo anymore. Then I'm ready for another. I'm doing okay with the CB now but just the classic version. I haven't messed with Savage Axe Mode yet but it looks SO wicked!
Or be me, clear the entire base game including optional content with charge blade as a main and had no fucking clue you can even power up the shield let alone the other two.
Absolutely. I started by just working on charging and locking Phials, then turning those charged phials into charged sword & shield, finally finishing off by incorporating SAED/SAxe into the combos. Next step is getting better with guard points. Am I missing anything?
One tip to learn guard points, Dantes Devil Sword will light up your character when you have a guard point up. Its a good way to learn where they are a bit more.
SAED can be cancelled into a AED by holding back on the left stick and pressing Y during the beginning of the attack. This is useful for two reasons: 1, it is much faster, more accurate, and reliant only on the initial attack hitting to inflict the phial damage. 2, it will always inflict 3 phials of damage, even if you only use 1 phial for the attack, so if you have already burned 5 of your 6 phials (with capacity boost) and still have a charged shield, you can guard point, press Y+B for a SAED, press back on left stick + Y, and get the most damage out of your counter for the last phial you have stored. Anticipation and planning are vital to be successful with this weapon and I highly recommend it to those who are looking for a weapon they can always improve with. (PS. As mentioned savage axe does not go away when you swap back to sword and shield, and as it only goes away if your phials are completely depleted you can keep it going basically indefinitely during fights if you continuously swap back and forth to charge your phials again)
yep, easy to bash a monster in the face with an AED. I'm replaying the ultimate games and laser sword having no damage numbers seems like the monsters are afraid of being decimated so badly 😅
I was playing Hammer and GS. The game was already amazing to me. Around 250h later, I decided to give CB a try and wow! The game feels fresh again. Great guide. I'll definitely have a lot of your tips in my mind when hunting!
Another useful skill for CB, specifically Elemental Phial CBs is True/Critical Element, as that will vastly increase the elemental damage output of both your Charged Sword, and Element Discharge combos, I, II, AED and SAED all see massive gains, especially when combined with Crit Boost (Which you should have by default), for a near 40% increase in total Elemental output.
My tips for those who want comfy build to have at least guard lvl 3 + guard up on your skill, and when using sword mode. Remove the habit of dodging and instead guard against the attack.
@@SHAHNMONO Ah, no wonder. LS the peak of Dodging vs CB the peak of Guarding 😅 Just keep in mind when using CB, after landing your combo immediately guard, make it a habit to do that. Or if guarding is not your style, try to make use of the sliding slash (Analog + B button on Xbox), it helps you slide away despite not having an i-frame.
@@TheOverlordEND well, not exactly the *peak* of guarding. If you need some help with developing the habit, I would say it's worth picking up the lance and giving guard/counter lancing a whirl. Was a long sword main since the game came out back in 2013. Was always too afraid to play charge blade because everyone said that its too hard and complicated. Picked it up for the first time last week and absolutely fell in love with it. Definitely my new main moving onto wilds.
the idea for a build I want to go for with the charge blade is a nice mixture of defense and offense so I can lean into its constant shift and change in a hunt. unfortunatly I am VERY early in the game so I have very little idea how I will pull that off. At the very least this video helps point me in a direction.
Quick tip if you block right as something hits you then you do this thing called a perfect guard and im pretty sure this prevents you from taking any damage it can also be used to avoid roar stuns if you dont feel like investing in earplugs
ya no, no such thing as perfect guard, but there is offensive guard! If you have the skill it increases your damage by a good amount if you timed your block perfectly. Also with guard up you can block EVERYTHING. (except some aura damage and fatalis death breath) Guarding at the perfect time doesn't block things a normal guard doesn't block. Maybe you're referring to iai slash, that one has a timing window in which you if you time it correctly, you avoid all damage, if you mistimed it a lil bit, you'll get super armor instead

if i remember correctly: impact = KO = fixed damage elemental = multiplies damage from elemental damage so, it's more prefered impact but elemental can do massive damage, sadly you need to build more specific builds and get specific weapons for that
both require building out a lot if you want to improve phial damage, since impact benefits from artillery which with secret can go to lvl 5 I think it was (off the top of my head)
@@MyChannel-g6f7l To be fair, going for artillery 5 isn't worth it without Fatalis armor, you're just giving up way too much with the 4 piece Raging Brachy / 3 piece Zorah sets
I feel like you are missing a lot about guard points as they are very very very useful and IMO an essential part of the cb's kit. One when you GP you do a little bit of phial dmg and can flinch monsters pretty easily. As well if you press both triangle and circle after a gp it will instantly lead you into a SAED which if you prefer can lead you into axe mode or just a regular AED. The old base mhw playstyle was gping the monsters attack and then sending an SAED down their neck. Going along with SAED and AED, you really never want to use SAED unless you have full phials and a very large opening. It is much more dmg efficient to just do an AED (which can be done by holding back on the stick and hitting triangle) which will focus the dmg on the spot that you hit and if you're in axe mode, slice through the monster. If you do this you can save your axe mode and not have to re arm it each time you want big dmg. As well the general time it takes and recovery for AED is much faster so it can be used for smaller openings. Side note as well you are missing the key difference between elemental and impact phials. Impact phials do a pretty substantial amount of ko dmg and I have ko'ed monsters more than once during a fight. Elemental phials can out damage impact phials but personally being able to ko monsters is more of a plus for me. With impact phials as well you can hit a guard point on a charging monster and ko it. IMO one of the best feelings. Small little fyi as well, you do have a GP on the transformation to axe mode and it can be used for monsters that have many attacks one after another. Really hard to pull off and not really practical but can be more efficient in certain situations.

One amazing charge blade that just looks unique and is kinda good in Dante’s devil sword that you can get in code: red. I don’t know which event upgrades it to rarity 12 tho.
My guide for what you should learn is 1. Sword and shield: learn the combos and maneuvers to keep up pressure when handling monsters don’t worry about your axe yet as early game sword and shield will be more than enough learn the openings to use elemental sword discharge and shield charge 2. SAED: Super Amped Elemental Discharge is the second step you have most likely done this while the monster is down but now you should find the openings to use it to get staggers or keep pressure mid combat use this to also learn to manage your charge phials mid combat and keep your sword and shield up while using axe 3. Savage Axe: now that you have learned charge phial management savage axe is the step up you want to keep your sword and shield boost while keeping savage axe so now you need to learn to switch with combos fluidly and not get caught mid axe form with no charges 4. Guard points: now that you know all your offense you need to learn you best and hardest defense with certain frames of transition from sword and shield to axe there are block frames that defend more than a normal block learning when these are and when to execute them are very hard but worth it. Good luck hunters!
A new tip I learned recently a good way to learn guard points is with Dante’s sword it gives a visual when blocking including guard points so if you want to learn them that’s a good way
@@MyChannel-g6f7l yeah and you can attack airborne monsters with little struggle in axe mode, love this weapon, I often switch between this and switch axe, both are dope and stylish 👌🏼

I used all weapon types. Dual Blade and Charge Blade literally the fastest weapon to finish the hunt, me personally.
Ah yes i love guard point KO on monke
Love to see it
One amazing charge blade that just looks unique and is kinda good in Dante’s devil sword that you can get in code: red. I don’t know which event upgrades it to rarity 12 tho.
yeah I cover that in the event round ups 😄
6 level master rank event quest 'A Shocking Climax' for upgrade
@@Voxsa thank you
My guide for what you should learn is
1. Sword and shield: learn the combos and maneuvers to keep up pressure when handling monsters don’t worry about your axe yet as early game sword and shield will be more than enough learn the openings to use elemental sword discharge and shield charge
2. SAED: Super Amped Elemental Discharge is the second step you have most likely done this while the monster is down but now you should find the openings to use it to get staggers or keep pressure mid combat use this to also learn to manage your charge phials mid combat and keep your sword and shield up while using axe
3. Savage Axe: now that you have learned charge phial management savage axe is the step up you want to keep your sword and shield boost while keeping savage axe so now you need to learn to switch with combos fluidly and not get caught mid axe form with no charges
4. Guard points: now that you know all your offense you need to learn you best and hardest defense with certain frames of transition from sword and shield to axe there are block frames that defend more than a normal block learning when these are and when to execute them are very hard but worth it.
Good luck hunters!

A new tip I learned recently a good way to learn guard points is with Dante’s sword it gives a visual when blocking including guard points so if you want to learn them that’s a good way
such a versatile weapon
It really is! Offers so much both offensively and defensively
@@MyChannel-g6f7l yeah and you can attack airborne monsters with little struggle in axe mode, love this weapon, I often switch between this and switch axe, both are dope and stylish 👌🏼
I find this weapon more easy than S&shield IMO LOL
How long have you used it for though?
I'm too stupid for this weapon guys
You’d don’t have to learn every element of it all in one go, you can learn it move by move!
i'm convinced everyone is too stupid for this weapon until they play with it for awhile.
I replayed the whole story again with charge blade to get the hang of it XD
I'm new to the game and this is so overwhelming and confusing wtf are these devs smoking holy heck
Welcome mate! This is a great place to start ua-cam.com/video/DhitfdhljwI/v-deo.html
😊😊😊
Sorry but 2 minutes in and I can't understand anything. This only makes sense if you already know the weapon combos so it isn't even a guide.
Sorry to hear that but it’s definitely a problem on your end. Using the video as an aid while you’re in the training area will allow you to practice and explore everything discussed during the video. You can pause sections, practice, check hunters notes, review them again, and so on. Stomping your feet in a tantrum in the comments and exclaiming this isn’t even a guide because you don’t understand any of it isn’t beneficial to anyone
@@MyChannel-g6f7l I watched Arekkz Gaming's video on this weapon and I after an hour+ I understand the basics. Both videos are hard because it's a hard weapon to learn. What I am trying to say is that in his video he put the keys on screen that you had to press for the combos. That way is a lot easier to understand and you can practice with the video paused instead of having to rewind it dozens of times. I am not trying to be a jerk although I know that's how I sound:) I might watch this video after I use the weapon a couple of hours and then I can understand better without the visual aid because I am sure you put the work into making it complete. I know the training area shows you the combos in the video but it's different. Check out that guy's video and see what I mean. Cheers
