- Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has finally been fired by Putin and replaced by a man with no military experience, Andrey Belousov. Russia's new offensive into the Kharkiv region is finishing its first week and Russia's casualty rate has been astronomical as there is fierce fighting for small villages. Retired pensioner here. Just $10 donated but every little helps.
My husband's gift for me for Mother's Day was a donation to this fundraiser, which I had asked for. His birthday is in early June therefore I will return the favour as an early gift. We are both seniors on a pension by our age there isn't much we need, we have all the tools including garden, garage and kitchen tools we need, nor do we need clothes for work and at the age we really aren't into fashion anymore. Here in Canada we are blessed to have had a good and safe life away from bombs, but we feel so helpless being unable to help the Ukrainian military, therefore it is a honour to donate. @@AstroGremlinAmerican Yes I guess he meant NAFO. I am working on deminishing most expenditures and expect to pass 5+% for NAFO funding from late summer onwards. Then I can with good confidence ask my government to do the same for NATO and UA. In time I believe they will.

I’m tired of hearing about F-16 aircraft that never arrive. I’m tired of hearing about delays and fools who don’t want to give Ukraine everything it needs. Russia plans to go into a permanent war economy. Ukraine is not the only country it is after. Every delay only costs more lives and lengthens the war for everyone.
Right denmark did a retraction today on delivers of F-16 . It will no longer be in 30 days , now it is this summer.
The F-16 program is, as far as I've sniffed out, not delayed because of political sluggishness. The first pilots have already qualified, but the ground crew have had a rude awakening that needed some adjustment time. Any fighter jet pilot will adapt to a new plane fairly easily, just like you'd get used to a new car fairly easily. But a jet mechanic who's used to Soviet and post-Soviet air planes will find the completely different DNA of a western plane daunting.
You're right about the rest though.
UK had the same problem during WW2. Starting wartime production takes 24-36 months at least.

I am from Ukraine. I absolutely agree with you. I am perplexed every time when someone call Ukraine to negotiate with putin. Ukraine has many agreements with russia concluded before 2014. Russia recognized Ukrainian borders, putin himself in few video interviews recognized Crimea to be Ukrainian. And all these agreements never prevented russia from invasion. When russia needs to break the agreement, it always finds the reason... I'd rather say "russia invents the reason to break agreement". Especially I was surprised when some media wrote that Ukraine would better accept russian conditions when negotiated with russia in Istanbul in 2022. In fact it was not 'peace agreement' but rather 'delayed surrender'. Ukraine would be obliged to limit its army size until 85k troops, 342 tanks, 519 cannons, refuse from military alliances, etc. And russia would be obligated to withdraw their forces from Ukraine (not even from Crimea and Donbass). It's clear that if Ukraine would agree to reduce the size of army - it was a matter of time... very short time when russia would invent the reason to invade again and defeat Ukraine.
@Quetzalcoatl-tq7su "When russia needs to break the agreement, it always finds the reason". I would say "When russia wants to break the agreement", because I seriously doubt it was ever truly needed. russia breaks its agreements whenever they think it's convenient.

It is incredible what good people can achieve when they work together. As the old saying goes for evil to win it only requires good people to do nothing. In our own way we are battling evil here. I am now 80 years old and I have had Ukraine in my heart starting in May 1994 when I was able to travel the first time to Ukraine and to send the first humanitarian semi truck from Augsburg. Germany to Alpha & Omega Christian Student Society to Dnipropetrovsk. Four more followed with a total payload of about 120 tones to CARTIAS Kiev and to Chernigviv to the care of Aanatoly Ligun. I made at least 15 trips with humanitarian aid with a Van from Germany to a monastery in L'viv, to Uman, Kiev and to Chernigiv.
If my health will allow me and so God will, I will make more humanitarian trips after this terrible war is over. Maybe I could even make one more time holiday in Alustia at the South tip of Crimea at a summer residence of the czars. SLAVA UKRAINE

Ukraine cannot win this war. Not enough people. And if NATO sends troops, it is nuclear war. Russia does not f&%€ around. What Jake and the community are doing for Ukraine and her heroes is simply amazing. When I told my Ukrainian mother about this she looked toward the sky and whispered “duzhe dobre” (very good) in her typical understated Ukrainian way. Being on the right side of history imbues you with a source of strength and commitment the other side can never know.

I’m retired age 70. I managed my finances well and have always believed in giving back. So after a watching Jake’s birthday fundraiser climb, I wanted to be a part. I sent $330 two nights ago. I have no idea what the patches are or how to get them but sounds like they might be a way to get the word out in my area. I’m so happy to hear on this broadcast that he may reach a million dollars. HOORAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! I do not try to predict the future and have no idea how a victory on either side would look. The politics pulling and pushing in every direction befuddle my mind.
