If Lyft and Uber upped their standards and upon receiving reports of drivers doing crap like what this driver did in making this woman feel very uncomfortable, they would have fired that person right immediately and deactivated his account. Instead, rideshare companies look at every driver as a revenue source for them and they don't really care about the passengers.

I'm curious about Waymo's marketing strategy, which appears to involve partnering with women influencers to demonize man to promote their brand. However, I wonder if the added wait times for female passengers might offset any profit. Big win for both male and female ride share drivers.
1 in 500k is too high but if everything is automated who will be the customers be because we all will be unemployed/unemployable.
Uber drivers are leaving any way from bad pay. All actions have consequences. Uber greed opens the door for other driver ride sharing companies. Uber drivers will jump ship in a heartbeat.
I would love to have a ride share driver flirt with me. The truth is I’m a man so my expectations are very low. I’d be happy to have a driver that can just speak English.

If they are bold enough to do some "unwanted flirting" it's not much of a stretch to say they aren't beyond waiting around and ambushing that woman too. Exactly! Gotta get these drivers off the platform. Unreported harassment and inappropriate behavior will make people less safe. It will partially be her fault if the nutcase driver goes and hurts someone because she didn't want to report it.

I'm not surprised there can be a new market for gender segregated goods and services in the near future and investors will be lining up for this new segment is something I've thought about and researched the last couple of years

I was just in SF and tried the Waymo car and was very impressed with the service. I like it since I dont have to tip anybody.
I been an Uber driver for 9 years and I been married for over 20 years and guess what dear I been hit on by woman almost every week . Asking me to go with them hang out with them and they don’t care that I’m married .
Just because someone tells you I know where you live and pushes to date you it doesn’t mean everyone is the same . I’m glad you’re helping Google share holders make more money that they don’t need keep it up . Will see where you end up when your car gets hack or go rogue !
This is normal in the business world. Lyft and Uber had first-mover advantage and now other businesses are entering the market. It's to be expected. I think giving options and having diversity is a good thing. Waymo will improve their poor navigation, hopefully not injuring anyone and maybe they'll offer lower prices, and become a more dominant player in the market. Lyft is offering women only rides for women who want it. I know because I'm a Lyft driver. It's easy for people to judge and say negative things about how some women are afraid of men but you never know what someone has been through. Uber and Lyft took a while to meet customers needs based on the unwanted advances, uncomfortable rides, etc ...and Waymo saw a way in. Good for them.

1 in 500,000 is bull sh** I work for a law firm and that lawsuit about rideshare lyft & uber is justified. I've heard from not just women but also men who were assaulted either physically or verbally while riding. In a couple instances they were even stalked aftewards.

Safer until a self driving vehicle takes you over state lines at 113 mph and your mommy isnt following you that day. But the real question is: what will you do when you want that last minute left to take the highway instead? Why are people pointing guns at cars? Sounds like a gun problem, not a driver problem. If someone wants to carjack my robotaxi, they won't get very far since the passenger can just exit and cancel the ride once they are far enough away, report it as a carjacking and lock the suspect inside delivering them to the closest police station. 😂

And when the robot car malfunctions she & blows up, or crashes, What is she going to do ?? I will never into a robot car.
I mean, look at what happened a few weeks ago with a human Uber driver that ran a red light and got in to a serious crash with two people in the back. Both of the passengers have major injuries. They can't use their own car insurance to pay for the medical bills and Uber has them locked in to arbitration rather than allow them to bring a lawsuit because their minor child logged in to the family Uber account to order from Uber Eats and agreed to the new TOS.
Honestly, I'll take my chances with a robot, thanks! 😊
