How many Altimas do you see driving around just fine that are absolutely physically destroyed? The cvts are just fine. Hell most of them haven’t had an oil change in 100,000 miles yet alone had the cvt serviced!
The cvt wouldn’t be so half bad if the owner basis of them actually serviced the fluid. Doesn’t help the dealer actually encourages you to never change it. “Lifetime” fluid yeah right
@@ChristmasMorning1995 you’re a damn lie! My friend had a 2013 and the CVT went out on it twice. Luckily it was still under warranty so she didn’t have to come out her pockets to repair it. That transmission is straight garbage!

It then later debuted at the 2006 New York International Auto Show on April 12, 2006 and went on sale in October 2006. It did not come out in 2007, because model years are not literal dates. Just like how the 2013 Altima (design) first existed in 2010 and came out in June 2012. Pretty simple.
These were so great back then. Little did we know those transmissions would eventually cost Nissan big. So many people had these and the Rogue, Sentra, etc. and had a transmission fail and then never bought another Nissan.
I'm very used to cars from the 1980s and 1990s that do 0-60 between 11 seconds and 18 seconds.. 7.3 seconds feels quick to me LOL. now I have an 08 Lincoln MKX that can do that in 7.3 seconds :)
I live in Ohio and i See Kia's with missing Bumpers like people are posting. Rarely even seen older Altimas. Dont believe me come to Newark Columbus Reynoldsburg area and you will see its not these
@@Tinrs80 oh yeah, I live in Michigan and see cars with Ohio plates that are Kia's with missing bumpers and they're usually going 20+ MPH over the limit. why so fast lol. least i can say i've never seem them get in an accident
I agree & also one of the best looking sedans ever. Much better looking than the Accord & Camry of that era. I had a 2007 2.5 S that I drove for four years & had a really nice ride & handling balance. I originally wanted the V6, but couldn't afford it at the time, but the 4-cylinder was surprisingly powerful. The CVT was fine as long as it worked, but the one in mine had to be replaced around 58k miles, but under warranty thank god. It had a few other problems as well such as some of the radio buttons occasionally not working, the A/C blower motor had to be replaced, the radio display would dim during hot summer days & the battery was replaced twice throughout the four years I drove it which I read is a common problem with these cars. I bought mine used with 36k miles & sold it at 66k miles. Despite the flaws it was a really well rounded car. One thing for sure though I will never buy a Nissan ever again. All of the other vehicles I've purchased have been Toyota/Lexus all problem free as expected. My current 2016 Lexus GS350 F-Sport that I bought used four years ago with 41k miles, now has 80k miles with no problems so far & not planning on replacing it anytime soon.
Great cars! Had a 15' Altima and 17' Maxima back in my early college years. Both were bought brand new. Put a good amount of miles on both. Never had a single issue with either one of them, despite them seeing roads which weren't of the best quality. I traded in the Maxima at around 50k miles, and I was still running original tires and brakes. It looked showroom new!
“Alternative to market leading Toyota Camry and Honda Accord” Meaning your credit score wasn’t good enough to finance either so you settled with an Altima. 😂
Nice rear seat room for kids like Aiden, Giovanni, Edgar, Kimberly, or Alizé. Plus easy to clean carpets for those finger/toe nail clippings, faux eyelashes, hot cheeto, and sticky mystery fluid accidents.
May not sound like a compliment but I use to always request one of these when i would rent cars to drive out of town. This was a very nice car when it was new. believe it or not but was smooth and very refined. Who knew so many people 10+ years later would dislike the brand so much due to their CVT and tranny. Unfortunate…
My parents leased a new 2005 Altima for 2 years - was a great car for the $199/month zero due at signing-deal. When we returned it in 2007, these new ones were on the lot. We decided to test drive a new 3.5 V6 model, which would be an upgrade over our previous I4 model. All three of us hated the new model because of the CVT - even though it was a V6, it felt slower pootling around town than our 2005 4-cylinder. Mom ended up getting a lightly used 2006 BMW 325i - for those interested….
I lived in the Cuyahoga Falls and Akron areas in Ohio for the past 4 years. Whenever I see one, I cover the brake pedal. I have never in that time seen one without some form of body damage.
For Those posting missing bumper comments. Id ask you to come to the Columbus & Newark ohio areas. You see Kia's mostly with missing bumpers. I rarely even see Altimas here. Rental places actually have alot of Camrys. Welcome to see for yourself if u come this way.
Carlos Ghosn's aggressive strategy to reach ever higher sales figures cost the Nissan and Infiniti brands their reputation. Carlos pushing for more sales trickled down to the dealership, so much that dealers were aggressively promoting schemes to get people to buy the cars regardless if the customers are not capable to keep up with payments. As a result, these Nissans, especially the Altimas, end up in the hands of people with poor credit scores. They're more likely to be irresponsible and don't take care of the cars, because it's going to be repossessed anyway. So that's why we see so many Altimas on the road in poor condition. And the drivers are notorious for being reckless behind the wheel. Nissan and Infiniti in the U.S. wanted to out sell the competitors that it inevitably attracted the wrong type of customers. The two brands have an image problem now. It's not good for a brand to be referred to as the ghetto car brand. That's a PR problem that isn't completely apparent to executives, because they pay attention to sales figures. However, that will hurt them back in the long run, and when it's finally obvious to them how their brands are perceived, it will probably be too late. It's quite a shame that Nissan and Infiniti are going down market to the market position of Hyundai and Kia in the 90's. And now Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis have not only taken over Nissan and Infiniti's spots but also exceeded them. I was at the 2024 New York International Auto, and honestly, the Nissan and Infiniti booths looked lonely. I was there. Even though the new Kicks was displayed there. Nissan is in big trouble right now, brand-wise, I don't know about sales, they must've sold plenty of new Rogues and QX60s to keep themselves alive.
No i don't think it's unpopular because of brand image, I think that their cars are literally the lowest of quality of any of their competitors and therefore they resort to people with poor credit scores and sell thousands of cars to rental car agencies (mitsubishi does this too). If it wasn't for this they wouldn't sell at all and you would never see them on the road. The Altima is literally the most common car seen in rental companies for decades. Those rental cars eventually get sold after miles of abuse and for cheap to, you guessed it, low-credit people. As far as infiniti goes, have you been in a late-model infiniti? Most of them are totally outdated and have terrible low-quality interiors and infotainment system.
Nissan could have been really good off Renault and Carlos Ghosn weren’t allowed to lower their reliability. Now the public wants nothing to do with Renault Nissan

This, in my opinion, was the best looking Altima. But this is also the beginning of the dreaded CVT and the downfall of Nissan.

0-60 is wrong. Every time I see one in my rear view mirror they gain an extra 300HP to ride my ass off the highway
Yikes. I never knew the v6 needed premium gas! Though I’m certain any current owners likely use regular…
only needs for max hp/tq.... it runs on 89-93 octane, with less hp with lower grades.

Lots of ppl forget that you could get them with a 6 speed manual, and those did 0-60 in 5.9 seconds.

even though it wasnt a altima i rented a 2017 nissan maxima 3.5 with the cvt, that v6 would roast the tyres when i came out of corners 😂

If you add a transmission cooler these transmissions are actually reliable. Valvoline ns2 cvt fluid is a lot better than the nissan fluid
