Yup. UA-cam for the win. I'm in the middle of a project, and this is exactly what I need. I'm making a backpack to carry my ukulele in! thank you.
Perfect!
OH WOW! COOL!!! IT WILL LOOK FABULOUS!!!!!!
Sadly, I couldn't get it to work. After a number of rip-outs, I caved and bought a uke backpack, which, I must admit is much more of a protection for my instrument than the one I was trying to make.
Oh it's this simple? I have been struggling for sometime now. Glad I'm still in my - testing how much fabric I need with an old duvet - phase.
This was EXACTLY the tip I needed. I was struggling to put the gussett in a bag and this did the trick. To the point, helpful, clear. Thank you so much!!
Glad it helped!
This was so nice to be able to find a video and get the info I wanted! To the point and I didn't have to wade through your entire project history to get to it! Just "here's how its done" with a good clear shot of the action! Thanks so much...
Thank you!!! I’ve sewn for many many years & your lil trick for this is exactly what I was looking for!!

Thank you, first time someone explained so 'I' understand it..

Oh god I needed this do bad! The solution is do simple but as a beginner sewist I really didn't know how to get that result for my sewing project! Many many many thanks ☺️☺️☺️
You're so welcome!
I was designing a cover for my PC tower, and thought I'd have to do some weird cutting, but it makes so much more sense to do it like this! Thanks for sharing!
Glad I could help!
Thank you for the great tutorial! I wanted to sew a fabric box with a gusset but wasn't sure how to sew on the corners. Thank you for showing us how to do it!

Wish I'd watched this before I started making my box cushions!
Perfect!
R this. I've been having a nightmare with exactly these corners on boxed cushion covers. Will unpick one and try this method.
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Wow thank you for this! My idea of a perfect little tutorial video. Maybe you know how difficult it can be esp for beginner/intermediate sewers, to know how to wade through hours of videos of projects, when all you really want is one little snippet that outlines clearly how to do a technique. Camera view is great too. Thanks again, subbed & looking forward to looking at more videos
Glad it was helpful, thanks for subbing xx
Brilliant little tip on how to get a lovely crisp corner 💖
Thank you so much! This helped greatly but then I had to go the other way (from a backwards L to a frontwards L and found I had to stitch the seam allowance beyond the end to achieve this. That corner is okay but not great. I hope you do a followup video to show both ways.
Glad it helped! I'm not quite sure which way you mean. Post a photo on the facebook group and we may be able to help facebook.com/groups/spencerogg
Thank you. 🌹
your my star.
THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gracias x compartir
Genius
I knew it was going to need a snip but wasn’t sure where to snip it. We are sewing bags at work and the back piece flows into the bottom.
Soo happy xxx
Nice tutoriel, could you show us how to do the same but with a rounded corner ?
Take a look at my Escape Pod Weekend bag pattern if you have it, that will help.
looks easy…let’s see if it is easy!
Thank you so much for the helpful videos, would you mind telling me what machine you are stitching this heavy fabric on?
I use a Janome Altelier 7. The fabric is just a single layer of curtain dec weight in one shot and denim in another, so not too heavy
@@SpencerOgg thank you for your time!
Thank you!! I'm having difficulty sewing the bottom to these two pieces. 😢
What pattern are you making? Do you mean where they join at the final seam?
Like from Kazakhstan.
How does it NOT pop open there? There’s barely 2 threads of fabric to hold to...
BTW... you are great at explaining/teaching some very good tips! I don’t see all that much but have really enjoyed your channel!
Try it - you will be surprised. :)
Fab ❤️🙏x
After I see the panel on all four sides how to I get a decorative top stitch in it? The panel is 5” wide and I can’t get it back around the arm to get in there. What I mean is there’s now way to get the top stitch all the way into the corner, it’s too bulky. What can I do?
It really depends on the thickness of fabric you are using, but a couple of things to try:
Use a zipper foot (its much narrower and will allow you to get closer in).
Trim the bulk of the seam allowance out of the corner before you fold it in.

What if I wanted a sort of circular edge instead of a 90° angle?
I have another video tutorial here on UA-cam on how to sew curves which should help :)
How would one use this idea, but on a solid, one piece of material, by folding over the edges to create the skirt?
Or is it just better to cut the material, only to have to sew it back to the same area where I cut it from?
I'm making a basic rectangle canopy for a little wagon for our doggie. LOL
You can use the method shown in this video with separate sides for a proper fitted cover (and save on fabric) or you can use one piece and, as you say, just fold the fabric down and stitch diagonal corners which would be a quicker and simpler method. Both will work :)
@@SpencerOgg Thank you.
It keeps creating extra fabric for the long strip
See my other messages
What happens if the corner is curved rather than a right angle?
Just use lots of little snips on the gusset part to ease your way around, and check out my video on sewing curves :)
I can't seem to match things up even with pins
Reduce your seam allowance as my earlier message, use lots of clips or pins to make sure your fabric doesn't stretch or shift. Is your fabric stretching perhaps?
I planned for a 1 inch seam allowance and it's a bit wrinkling and ruffle
1" SA is too large for this Aymon, you would definitely get wrinkling, its too much fabric to 'bend' . Try a 1/2" or a 3/8" SA
@@SpencerOgg OK I've modified my pattern to ½inch seam allowance. I'm new to sewing so I wouldn't have known that. Let me try it again when I get home from school, and thanks for the feedback
