Yikes... that must be one heck of a sensor for $400! Holy Toledo... Yeah I'd be getting that part number and looking around at alternatives for buying if it isn't covered under your warranty. That sucks about your truck window. I had something similar happen and the estimate for getting it fixed was a couple hundred over the deductible. I just paid it out of pocket rather than file a claim. Friend who was in the insurance business at the time recommended I do that as it is surprisingly easy to see your rates go up for little things like that. Thanks for sharing Brock 🤠

Sensors, sensors, sensors…….. thank you EPA!!! & Climate radicals. I would check all the wiring connections to the sensor once you identify which one it is. That said your tractor has been and is a beast. It’s really been trouble free with the biggest issue having been some loose frame bolts as far as I can tell since I’ve been watching your channel. Have a good one! 👍👍👍

Brock, I had the same issue in a 3046r. My tractor is still under warranty and the sensor was replaced. I looked at the sensor right after the technician removed it and there was ice in one of the ports. The technician said this sensor sucks in air and measures humidity levels, there was moisture that was some how left in the sensor and froze there blocking the port. JD knows this is an issue and is working on a solution.
There is also an issue on the exhaust side sensor as well, the error goes away after the engine heats up. They believe it's a range issue in the software, with the sensor range not being wide enough.

Hey Brock, thanks again for another great informative video, seems like there are two issues happening here, cold temps below 32 degrees and older possibly a weak battery. I own a 2021 JD 2038R with less than 60 hrs., I live in southern Montana, winters can get really cold, my tractor lives in an enclosed insulated shop and heated to around 40 degrees, most of the time, if I don’t forget to leave the heat on after working there, none the less, before I start my tractor when it’s cold soaked / or not run for awhile, I plug my block heater in, put a thick moving blanket completely over the hood / grille and steering wheel, this way not only the engine is getting warmed, but some of the electronics will get some love also, let it warmup for about 1 hr depending on inside / outside temps, then unplug, and start the tractor, let the oil circulate for a few minutes, then go to work.
Another thing I do with all my batteries is attach a battery tender to them, whenever my tractor, mower, motorcycle, trailer, etc. isn’t being used, the battery tender keeps the batteries at a healthy charge, thus far, except for an old worn battery, I’ve had good success. Most batteries don’t like extreme temps hot or cold. I remove my batteries from my summer equipment (that’s not in my heated shop) store / charge them in a non-frozen garage, seems to prolong there life…
I realize a lot of tractors live outside or in non-electrified sheds or buildings, no easy answer for charging batteries/ or using block heaters, perhaps there’s a small solar powered unit on the market a battery tender could run off and keep a charge on your battery.
Stay safe out there…tractor on !

I had the same thing happened to mine a couple times now (2021 2038R, 85hrs). -15°F once, and the other time, -8°F. The colder it is, the longer it takes the code to go away once it starts. I believe it’s just a warm-up issue. I haven’t contacted my dealer about it because it does go away. I’ll be following along to see if there really is an issue. Thanks Brock!

You rarely sound truly flustered in a video but you sound flustered this morning. I stopped locking my doors at work due to theft because I don’t have anything worth stealing and most people don’t know a side window replacement is a lot more expensive than a windshield. hopefully your day gets better.

Hey Brock, Thanks for posting. Same exact problem on my 2 year old 3039R. That loud beeping is ear piercing and is continuous. No way I could work with the tractor even if it wasn't an issue without my Bose noise cancelling headphones. I was also told by my dealer that JD hasn't come up with a solution yet. Up here in NY it gets pretty cold at times. Best Regards, Jeff

Brock I live in Midland Texas half way between El Paso, and Dallas Tx, very cold days just don’t happen here often but when they do you bet your ass it feels like your in the North Pole. On one of these cold days this last December my 22 2038R with 48hrs had the very same code come up. I too was worried and called the dealership all they said was to bring it to them when I had a chance. After some research I ended up wiggling some harnesses starting it back up only to get the same message. I did not let it run for very long and turned it off figured I would just have to take it in. I then found a video showing how to clear codes on what I believe was a 3 series R John Deere it worked for them so why not try. I have 62 hrs on it now and the code has not shown up since. Thanks for the Video!

Brock my 2017 2038r had a red stop and error code for 1209.03 a month ago. Google says it was an exhaust manifold pressure sensor issue. Its been quite cold and it's been cranking slow so I had the thought to change the battery. The one that was in it was the original so 5 years old. Since I changed the battery the error code hasn't returned.

My 3046 had that error code a few times. The first time it happened, I shut off the machine and called the dealer. He said that it should just go away after the tractor warms up. It did, but it took quite a while. It kept coming back, so I called again. My dealer said that I may have been starting the engine at too low of a throttle setting. I bumped it up to start at 1500rpm, and it hasn't happened since. I was worried about starting it at such a high rpm, but he said it was fine. I had been starting it at around 1200rpm. Thankfully the issue seems to have gone away. Being a worrisome individual, the "all you gotta do" solutions sort of give me the creeps. But I'm still adjusting to all the electronic and pollution equipment, so I'll trust those who are supposed to know. I hope it doesn't come back to bite me.

    • @RockhillfarmYT

Thanks for the feedback. The owners manual says to start it at a higher RPM but I don’t always think to do it because it’s a habit to start at idle.

    • @marvindiamonjr.9631
      @marvindiamonjr.9631 Рік тому +1

@@RockhillfarmYT Yup, I saw that in the owner's manual, too. To make sure I start it at the correct rpm, I place the throttle lever in my new start position after I shut off the engine. That way, when I go to start it again, it's already set to go.

Thanks Marvin, Same exact problem on my 3039R when it was really cold. That beep might as well be a siren. It is ear piercing. I too have been starting on low idle and allowing the tractor to auto-throttle. I will try it next year when it is cold if it
happens. I have a block heater so I may try plugging that it as well when it is really cold. I did recently. My tractor is almost 2 years old but I just bought the extended warranty so I should be covered if those don't seem to fix it. Jeff

This happens to mine but it needs to be below zero. John Deere is aware of the problem and does not have a fix for it yet. Some ice forms in the pressure sensor passage so it gives a incorrect reading causing the fault. Once the engine builds heat, the sensor thaws out and it is fine. The reason the fault was there when you started it,the fault was not cleared when you shut it off the first time. I am in northern Minnesota where it is colder and have a front snowblower and when blowing fine powder snow causes the problem for me. The tractor will work fine blowing the snow but when it sits after the moisture entered the intake blowing fine powder snow and the below zero temp freezes the sensor. It happened the first time this year this morning and four times last winter. When it happens I let it run and walk away and do something else for 5 to 10 minuets till it shuts off. The pto won’t engage and it won’t go over 1800 rpm also. Replacing the sensor did not help.

It got really cold for use in Nova Scotia the other day and I tried to start our 4066M in -25C weather. I got an EGR valve fault and an oil pressure sensor fault, but that was after cranking it a bunch. I was assuming it was due to the cold and having weird/low voltage due to cranking it a bit too long. I didn't realize right away that the fuel was gelled and it just wasn't going to start at all. I thought I had enough winter diesel, oh well. Anyway, two days later when it was 0C and the fuel had sorted itself out, it fired right up, but the computer still has the stored codes (using the TractorData app), which I cleared.

Our 3046R with a cab we bought new two years ago has had a string of malfunctions that is not what I expected from this big name brand. Right off the bat one of the FEL cylinders failed. ( they claimed that was a very rare occurrence) then we had a recurring low fuel manifold pressure alarm after running the for 30+ minutes and that would reduce the RPM on it's own.( they claimed that was a rare occurrence) It would go away after about an hour's rest. The dealer told me it was probably a dirty fuel filter or my diesel was contaminated. It would be on me to pay for the repairs if that is what it was. So I looked around the fuel system and the fuel supply hose was kinked in a bend from the factory. I fixed it myself. Never happened again. Then we keep over heating the engine coolant. I kept cleaning the outside of the 3 deep stacked radiators to no avail. (It is not easy removing and re-installing the engine cowling covers to get access to the radiators). Found out the actual engine coolant radiator of the 3rd and most concealed inaccessible of the three. It was getting overed by a layer of cotton like lint that comes from our local weeds we mow (approx 12-13 acres) . You have to peer in there through a 3/4" opening with a flashlight to see that layer of lint. I had to cobble together a water pressure wand small enough to insert between the radiators to wash off the layer of lint, Very bad design with no removeable screen. The dealer said I could buy and install one myself. It is a very labor intensive job to install that fix. I will pay for that to be done. Then the 3rd function for the grapple quit working. Took the tractor to the JD Dealer and close to $400 to fix a stuck solenoid valve. Said we need to activate that valve more often to keep it freed up. Now we get this "intake manifold pressure sensor failure alarm." after the single digit temps we had one night a couple of weeks ago. Hope we can fix it with having to haul the tractor in again. ( 65 mile round trip) Wish me luck. BTW the only thing that was covered by our warranty was the FEL cylinder.

I literally had this issue for the second time on my 2021 3046r last week. The ambient temp was in the mid to lower teens both times it happened. The first time it happened the tractor had approximately 60 hours on it. I never called the dealer. It now has approximately 250 hours on it. I called my dealer and was told they have been finding the manifold sensor to have condensation in it and the alarm will go off once the sensor dries out. They also said JD was aware of the problem and that they had a new program that needed to be downloaded into the tractors computer so the alarm doesn’t recognize the moisture until the engine is warm not cold or basically delaying how quickly it will sense moisture. My dealer had just got the new program from JD 2 weeks ago and sent out a mobile repair technician to do the update and they also replaced the sensor at No Charge. When the technician removed the sensor I tapped it in the palm of my hand and water in fact did come out of the sensor. So far I have not had the alarm come on again, but I have only put on maybe 5 hours since this repair was done. Hope this helps.

A few things to think about. Most tractors, regardless of emissions, have electronic fuel systems. So any turbo engine with a common rail fuel system will require that sensor. The TYM engines “kukje” have a fully mechanical fuel system, even the emissions tractors. So this JD issue would never occur on the tym/kukje tractors. People mention this loosely in videos. But never in depth.

Hi Brock. Just something to think about. On a car with a low battery, the computer can send cray messages like no oil pressure. I noticed your battery cranking slow due to the cold. Maybe the same is happening to you. The computer is not getting enough juice, and sending a false code.

Bummer about the broken window. Personally I'd rather pay out of pocket than run the truck window through insurance. We ran a collision with our trailer and another car through insurance and it went on the Carfax for the truck towing. I'd ask the glass company if they report their repairs. You might have a theft or vandalism report on your truck after the repairs.
