  • Join me on a scenic drive down the Main Fork of Rock Creek (FR#2421)
    AKA: Glacier Lake Trail Road.
My starting point is the Glacier Lake trailhead parking lot and heading North East toward Beartooth Highway (Hwy 212)
This road was closed for a while after the flood of June 2022. This year they partially reopened for weekend traffic while they repaired the road and bridges. I must say that the work they have done to this point is amazing. I have driven the road in the past and it was extremely rocky and slow going. Now you could drive a 2 wheel drive car on it as long as you don't get too close to the edge of the roadway. The fill is still soft and may cause issues. But it is an amazingly beautiful area and well worth a trip if you are in the area.
Enjoy the beauty of the Absaroka Beartooths.

They did an absolutely wonderful job rebuilding the roadway after the flood washed a lot of it away. I am sure in time it will get rough again but for this drive it was amazing.

That was great, Lori.....I need to cruise down that road next time I am in the area. I like the lack of crowds post Labor Day, too.

They have done an awesome job repairing this road after the 2022 floods. And in record time. It was closed a lot this past summer while construction was taking place and only fully open on the weekends. I hope that I get the chance this next season to go back and see the road after they finish everything. 😊

It is growing slowly, but that is fine. I do this for fun not to make a living.

Would a truck be to big for this road?

Full sized pickups are on this road all the time, People also pull campers up there. It is basically single lane with pullouts. Larger pickups with campers past the M-K campground could be a challenge.
