This song is SO Metheny/Mays that it's scary. With it's shifting modes, surprising major build-ups and Aznar-like background vocals, it's really rather more serious and less "pop-y" than most of their stuff. And hearing Cory be more lyrical and less overtly funky is a treat, he's SUCH an amazing talent!
Yes, Ralph, loved that comment 👍 I just wish this track went on for much longer. And the writing of it, too, how it builds and then drops (or stops! :) -and Jonah playing so deliciously across all the beats-. And Aron: yes, very busy, but just soo subtle… Love, love this piece 💛
Yep. ... That's all I really have to add. This group (specifically this lineup with the wind section) is top-tier. That was just lovely and ethereal and jazzy and smooth. DL are always a treat. Awesome stuff. Great video. And an extra round of applause for FLUTE MAN! 🤣👏👏👏
@@SteveOGRock Lol! Since he plays multiple instruments, maybe both! Flute Man & his alter ego Sax Man! Either way, whether hero or villain, both are SUPER-B. (Great. Now I'm doing Dad puns. Ugh.)
It is such a nice song, and yes, the flute player is Kenni Holmen, who also plays saxophone on the other tracks. He also plays the bass clarinet solo on Hästråtta (one of the songs without a video from the Turbo album).
My favourite! 😊 The groove, guitar, horns, the flute solo, the melody first heard at 2.08. Yes, everything! Ps. Yes very much chilling on a beach somewhere-vibe 😊🏖

Always a pleasure seeing your reaction videos. They are spot on. I’ve been on this Dirty Loops journey this year and your appreciation of their music has brought me to a whole other level of understanding their musicality. I can’t get enough of them! Thanks for taking your time on finding more videos from Dirty Loops. I’m curious to see what you think of their cover of Stromae’s « Ta fête ».
This and "Follow the Light" are my favorites off this collaboration album. It's just so chill and relaxing. I love it when they just play. Steve, have you done their version of "Ta Fete" yet? I searched and didn't see it. It's an older one, but definitely worth checking out if you haven't.
@@SteveOGRock The song is in French, just so you're aware. But it's really awesome. Also also (because I just thought about it...) "Accidentally in Love". The bass on that song is outrageously sexy IMO. There is a video, but it's concert footage. But the audio for the video is the studio recording (hope that makes sense).
Love this one, and glad to listen to it again with you-. Someone else recommended Dirty Loops cover of “Ta Fête”, and I agree, that would be an awesome one! (Not very chilled though, hehe ;) As are all of their earlier covers and tracks from their first album “Loopified” - just amazing 🔥 Add-on: wondering if some of the percussion is being played by Andreas Ekstedt, who plays on quite a few of their tracks…
Love it so much!!! A modern imagining of the 80s jazz fusion spacey ballad. Awesome! Just noticed a comment below - Pat Metheny / Lyle Mays ... so very right on.
Amazing reaction my friend Steve!!...I have seen your reactions to Dimash, the best male singer of the world (In my personal opinion)...Now I want to invite you to meet, who is considered one of the Best Female Singers of the World (The best in my personal opinion)...The passion and dedication when Dimash is performing a song can only be compared with the person who has influenced him to sing leaving everything on stage: His idol, the queen, the incomparable, the Goddess: Lara Fabian.....Lara is the best female singer and performer of the world...She is a lyric soprano with a amazing vocal range and incredible breath control...She speaks and composes in 5 languages and sings in more than 15 languages....That's why she is the inspiration for Dimash and several singers around the world...You can see covers of her songs on UA-cam made by singers of the stature of: Dimash, Diana Ankudinova, Polina Gagarina, Forestella, Sissel Kyrkjebo, Floor Jansen, Diana Navarro, Giulia Falcone, Morissette Amon, Gabriel Henrique, Rimar, Katrina Velarde, Cakra Khan and others...Please react to her songs, all masterpieces, in LIVE versions, because Lara is more impressive when she sings live, so you can see why she is the idol of Dimash...Try to do it in this order and almost all songs are from the same Lara’s concert “From Lara With Love” in Montreal 1999, one of her best works: 1) Je Suis Malade (Singing in French)...2) Caruso (Singing in Italian)...3) Je T'AIME (2002 Live version in Paris Singing in French)...4) Perdere L'Amore (1999 Live version Singing in Italian)...5) Adagio (1999 Live version singing in english)...6) Broken Vow (1999 Live version singing in English)...7) You are Not From Here (1999 Live version singing in English)...8) Quédate (1999 Live version singing in Spanish)....9) Ti Amo Cosi (2019 Live version Singing a trío with Dimash and Aida Garifullina)....I hope to see you first reaction soon and if you don't mind, I'd like you to mention me as the person who recommended reacting to Lara...Here you have the link of her amazing performance of the son>g “Je Suis Malade”....ua-cam.com/video/eHSyk4SGtuY/v-deo.html

I don't have spotify, but maybe the report from the FBI agent monitoring my internet usage will also comment that Follow the Light is my most listened tune of 2022 ;-)
Your next "Follow the Light" is going to be "Coffee Break" by Jonah Nilsson (sadly without the rest of Dirty Loops). It's so catchy and upbeat. I listened to that one like 100 times when I first heard it.
From what I’ve heard, Magnus, some of the tracks on this album indeed are more Cory-led and arranged, and some of the other more by Dirty Loops…not sure though if this is true. But it would make sense… :)
@@fiddlestix3025 Yeah, Dirty Loops (I might have heard it in a podcast with Henrik, but I can't remember exactly) said that Follow the Light, Thriller, and Hästråtta were the songs they brought to the collab, and the other four were ideas from Cory Wong. Dirty Loops had their songs mostly written already before the collab even, iirc.
