I can't say about Doordash, as I haven't signed up, but every other food delivery app I have is leave it at the door as default. I deliver in the city, many apt buildings, basement apt etc. It's something I thought of instantly that could be an issue with this option. Not to mention food getting cold while just sitting and possibly affect tips afterwards, if they take their sweet time to come out. Cash tips, well that's another issue. I will say I've had a few wrong addresses in this pandemic and as I always contact the customer it's only discovered after the fact. We're taking all the risk and now definitely more than ever need to cya with pictures, especially if the customer isn't using the app to track their delivery. I would think customers we verify their info when more so now, but wrong addresses and phone numbers are still happening and just make no contact deliveries that much more difficult especially if ratings and tips for those apps that are given afterwards.
I was wondering about that . I wondered if some customers realize this . I almost left food at someone else’s door because the customer put wrong address down . But luckily the customer came outside from a few houses down yelling before I almost left food at the neighbors porch . Some customers have opened the door as I’m putting food on porch as if they thought I was going to hand it to them . I guess it is a default n the app . I wonder if this will effect tips . So far it hasn’t .
I started texting the customer letting them know Im leaving the food by the door like they requested. I had a few waiting for me outside, makes me wonder if they never choose that contact free option. I also had a few get mad because i knock their door and they thought they had choose the leave at door option but they didn’t .
I agree photos are always a good way to cover yourself, in addition to ringing the doorbell, and sending the text.
