Was it a good review? Yes it was. Did it give me the information I was hoping for? Yes it did. Will I be subscribing to this guy for more reviews? Yes I will.
I just bought one and so far I love it. I have been grilling for 50 years but the offset smoker is a new deal to me I just wish I had discovered it a lot sooner. I’ll go back and catch up on all your videos maybe you have one on the barrel smoker that you mentioned in this one… thanks
Great review, thanks. Actually was about to order mine from Home Depot, and the wife ordered it from Amazon, and she saved $38 for shipping as they ship free the next day, plus it was $30 cheaper. Took me a few hours to put together, but it is a tank, sturdy, and l am very pleased. Your modifications look like they are exactly what l will do next while it’s new. No brainer. Enjoyed your video. From Ontario, Canada, so weather is similar to you!! Cheers.
Hey Thanks for the video, I too have a budget friendly offset smoker from Char Griller and I love it. I see lot of people that trash these more cheaper/budget friendly cookers and they seem to be way too critical of these cookers that were not designed to preform like custom built cookers. Keep on Q-ing👍
Thanks for the great video! Haven't smoked in over 20 years, recently got bit by the bug again starting with a Weber 310 gas and smoke box, now using a Weber Smokey Mountain 18" with great results, but wondering how I'd make out with an offset. We live on Ri/Ct shoreline so we do have winter, not as tough as Maine. I was put off by reading that unless you're ready to drop a grand, don't bother with an offset, but your video has made me rethink. It's not like we're trying to split the atom here, and I appreciate the typical Downeast common sense approach smoking and smokers. Would love to see you do a video on fire control with the offset. All the best, cheers!
Thanks for the great review. I was wondering if the main compartment cooking area is tall enough to do a beer can chicken style of cook? I am leaning Ford the Dyna glo vs the Okla. Joe. Would like to try some smoking & the versatility of a regular grille.
@@dank9288639 on another video of the Dyna glow some one used a 16 oz (tall boy beer can) on a beer can chicken. Best price seems home Depot on line, have not found this model in a local box store or Wal Mart on display, so ordering on line seems the only way to buy - at around 100lbs (guess) shipping it would be to expensive to return.
Perfect! I've been in the hunt for a grill and and have been concerned about Maine climate as my current one is rusted out. Do you grill during the winter with no issue?
Like your review. Thinking about buying the 51inch heavy duty version of this. My only hesitation was that people, looked on Amazon for reviews, stated paint coming off on the inside. What I know is that this is usually not paint, why would they paint the inside, but soot and what not accumulating. Can you advise if you have seen this? Can’t be real, but jut want to be sure as it’s still a sizeable amount of money to spend. Your point exactly: does exactly what I need it to do. Looks perfect for the price.
Thanks for the great review! I'm definitely going to have to pick this one up. Just one quick question I have for you. Did you buy the cover for it? I'm also in Ontario Canada and have similar weather to you so the winters can be a little nasty. I just want to know if the cover is good enough to keep it from getting messed up in the winter.
Yes I did buy a cover for it. Got it from home depot online. It's definitely worth getting the cover. Very well made and durable during our hard winters.
Hey man, nice vid. You may remember when you were assembling it that there was a vent where the firebox connects to the chamber. Did you remove the panel with the vent to allow a big space between the firebox and the chamber? Or did you keep it on to keep a vent inside the cook chamber?
Did i like your video? Yes i did. Did I think the use of rhetorical questions excessive? Yes I did. Did it bother me? No it didn't. Am I going to buy this offset smoker? Yes I will
I have one like this but 730 sqin. on clearance near me at $104 new in box. I'm debating if I should get this or the pitboss Laredo 1000 for $249. I already have the green egg what would you recommend?
Honestly it depends on if you want to tend to the fire constantly. Or a pretty much set it and forget it style. I also have the pit boss 1150 pro series and absolutely love it. But nothing beats sitting outside with a cold one and tending to the smoker.
The only issue I have is the control panel. It doesn't have 25 degree increments. But with that said all I have to do is send it in and they'll give me a new one for free that does. Overall I absolutely love it and have had no major issues with it so far.
Thanks for the video. Best one on UA-cam especially on the smoker. I have a dyna glo vertical!! Its great. Just learned about the dyna glo offset (horezonel) it's got me Interested And this investment💯👍🏼👍🏼. Well you got you a new sub sir!, Just started posting videos on my own UA-cam channel green house grilling. Check it out if you ever have time . I'm open to suggestions and tips on grilling or making videos. Thanks again

I should have waited you answered all questions. Cheers!
In the heart of a Maine winter, I'm still grilling away. Still no issues, 2 years later.

Thanks I appreciate that. It has never lost paint from the inside. It's soot like you mentioned. Not even a hint of it coming off. Well worth the buy.

@@biggdssmokehouse7418 awesome, thanks for letting me know!
Enjoyed this video, I’m going to look to purchase this smoker! What’s the Sq in on this one? Just subscribed btw
Awesome, thank you. It's roughly around 962 sq in.

The vent was a add on if I didn't have a firebox. I didn't have to remove it because it was never attached to it. I still have the piece.
@@biggdssmokehouse7418 sounds like a need to take mine off then lol. Thanks!
What did you use around the door on the grill and the smoker to keep the heat from getting out? Where do you get it??
I used a felt heat gasket. I got it through Amazon. There are so many different types to pock from. The one I used was from lava lock.
Is there any way you could re upload your video to how you put this smoker together?

Yes and it came out great. 15 hours and it was awesome. I've got a video on it.

Do you have to have the fire box
Not at all.
