Appreciate the share man! The super vitrified 400 is seriously the best stone I’ve ever used and having the 3K super vit to jump too is just going to be magic.
that super vitrified 400 is a different animal, cuts 90%-95% as fast as a DMT plate, but is somehow super refined for a #400 stone. par-excellance ! now if only I can save up the pennies for a #3,000... maybe a #5000 one day
1000 vs 3000 finish? Does the 3000 still leave "bite" at the edge? I have a naniwa diamond 1000 that leaves a hair-whittling edge, but I'm assuming either the 1000 or 3000 SV would be much better to use and possibly leave more bite. I cannot decide on which stone to get to follow the 400 SV. I love the edge your 400 SV stone leaves, especially after a good 1um stropping. It may very well give the best edge for a work and/or general edc blade. I've been following you for years and your freehand edges are the reason I kept practicing my freehand instead of going guided like many recommend. It probably would have been less expensive to go guided though lol. Are there any blade, knife types or reasons you recommend using a guided system for? I remember you'd use an edge pro (I believe) for precise testing.

Would love to see you sharpen Sandrin Knives in the future. They make Tungsten carbide blades, apparently not steel.
Is there any plans to make a 6×1 or 6x 1/2 in stone for guided sharpeners?

Yes, the 3k super Vitrified Diamond Waterstone keeps the bite, Guided is best for testing geometry, steel and HT to control variables
