I do get where it wouldn't be for everyone. But for my needs, I've always loved Chromebooks. They're so simple, and they just work, especially if you are a Google user. Perfect for me who's watching UA-cam, looking at news sites, doing an occasional Zoom call, and asking Google random questions. I just got the Plus, and am really impressed with its speed and power. I didn't even have to think about setting it up or transferring anything. I just logged in, and everything was set up for me.
I just bought an open-box HP Chromebook x360 14c (12th Gen) from Best Buy for all of $273, including tax. It is in excellent, like-new condition, and it automatically upgraded to Chromebook Plus during the setup process. I couldn't be happier. I chose the unbranded laptop, despite the rebranded Plus's recent $379 sale (which apparently ended for now). The rebranded model does not sport a fingerprint reader, whereas the previous 14c model does. The rebranded model also has a 256GB SSD, compared to the previous model's 128GB. Everything else is the same, so it didn't make sense to lose the fingerprint scanner just to have a Plus label on the lid. The additional 128GB would have been nice, but it was not a deal breaker for me. The 14c model I bought has the 12th Generation Core i3. This is important, as 11th Gen and prior Core i3 CPUs do not qualify for Chromebook Plus.
I agree with most of what you said in this review. I actually bought it because of this channel, it gives great info on all things chromebook. But I have a couple of things I'd like to add: I bought the branded HP Chromebook Plus x360 14c from best buy a few days ago and there is no fingerprint scanner on mine :(. The fan is also making a high pitched sound when/while playing netflix, disney etc., so not too good for ppl with sensitive ears. Besides that I agree with everything else you said in this video ;), thank you for your work!

On that extra give on the base, which no doubt saved their materials costs in building the thing, that may, just may let the dealers sell them for that wonderful $379 price you spoke of. Europe too We've got dozens of Chromebooks with intel pentium or so, but only few, expensive others. If there is a more premium model available, mostly only as a middle configuration… (8/128gb, no touch/fingerprint)
I live in Britain and still like Chromebooks. The problem is where to even look at the options in a retail setting. They are a more rare category to see here.

I am no fan of ChromeOS, I acknowledge it has greatly improved and I've tried a few times yet I keep going back to native Windows or Linux Distros for older devices. THAT SAID the minimum standard of CHROMEBOOK+ spec is definitely a step in the right direction and though I would not go of my way to use or purchase a Chromebook if I did some of the newer offerings do seem decent and for those that are into it I am glad to see things are improving if it covers their needs GREAT. Options drive competition and innovation.
I just got this model(Canadian version) and there's no flex from holding either corner. After turning it on it did an immediate update and it booted up with a Chromebook Plus on the display. I wish it had a little more brightness like my Pixelbook but it's tolerable. I also got it on sale so I'm pleased so far with it
That's one mistake I'm not making when buying another device. My laptop has 400 nits and I can barely see during the day time. I was so naive and just looked at paper specs but the build/keyboard and screen quality and brightness really should be the most important parts of any next laptop
found this one at Best Buy and man did that track pad impress! I would love to see an all metal HP 16 inch with this keyboard and trackpad with at least a 2560 x 1600 screen.
Would you please include model #s, a link or list of the specs & how the mem/storage specs may be limiting for a user to your reviews.Chromebooks tend to have subtle differences & its hard to know if the specs will meet a persons needs. Also, please let us know if a product is customizable!! The item in this review is not the plus model i purchased. The web cam is 720 & no fingerprint reader. There's just no place for low brightness screens these days. Chromebooks suffer in this area and I think that Google should have have 350 NITS minimum as part of the Chromebook Plus specs.
Agree. I'm thinking of replacing my aging Pixelbook Go next year (mostly because the camera broke) and anything less than a 400 nit screen and great audio isn't even going to make my short list.

Hello guys, nice to meet you all. I have bought dell chromebook 3100 recently and this is the first time for me to use chromebook. However, I noticed that it is hard for me to look for some information compared to conventional laptop. I would like to ask about several things below: 1. Is it safe for me to plugged in my chromebook all the time (100% charged all the time)?. I have tried for 1 day to plugged in my chromebook all the time when I was using it and I found out that the adapter was not getting hot. I'm afraid that I will hurt the battery and lose its capability in the short period of time 2. I can't find out adaptive charging on my chromebook, I also have enabled adaptive charging notification and pop up in flags. However, I can't find it in my system. Is there anyone facing same difficulty? I hope that someone will help me regarding to this situation. Thank you all for your support :)

Why do you seem obsessed with flex in Chromebook Chasis? How often and when might it matter. You give an example in this review but how real life is it?
It sure mattered to me when my Lenovo Ideabook flexed one time too many and suddenly died so dead that the power light doesn't even come on when you plug it in. These machines don't run on magic. They have circuit boards inside them that are not at all designed to flex and neither are the screens.
Depends on the games. I have a six year-old Chromebook and I game on it all the time playing all sorts of Android games and browser-based games, including graphics-based games. However, I don't expect to play Fortnite on it.
wait if you can for a $369 sale of the i3 model for sure. You can even put Ubuntu and Steam on it if you do. I think Pentiums and Celerons are just too limiting.

Its really personal preference. With laptops, if there is flex, it gives the impression that it may be flimsy. Again, personal preference.
