My guess as to your anosmia would be evernyl (Veramoss). For me, smelling it in isolation really helped though. My brain just needed a bit of time to get up to speed.
@@SeldomlyOften baccarat rouge is mainly Hedione/Ambroxan/Veramoss/Ethyl maltol, with the Veramoss in a huge overdose. Veramoss is like a € per gram, so you can get some of that along with a few other basic building blocks (Iso e super, Ambroxan, Galaxolide, Hedione etc) and you have some pretty cool study materials for very little money.
Very interesting, Daniel. Most perfume snobs criticise Oud for Greatness for its prominent BR540 accord, which to my nose makes up most of the structure/backbone of the composition. About that perceived "gap" in your perception, the most prominent "bulk" ingredient in the three fragrances you mention would be ambroxan, which a surprising number of people claim to find annoying in blended fragrances like Sauvage, and which an equally large number of people can barely smell when presented as a pure note, for example in Molecule 02. The malty sweetness shared by BR540 and OfG comes from a balanced overdose of ethyl maltol, and quite a bit of their aromatic depth stems from veramoss/evernyl. I am not aware that Sauvage EdT contains great amounts of either ethyl maltol or veramoss though (?), so I suspect it might indeed be an effect of your individual perception of highly-dosed ambroxan. Interesting... 🤔
Oh yes, OfG has massive mid volume and diffusivity to my nose, in the same way as BR540 has. It used to be part of the miracle of BR540 that such a huge dose of high-impact aromachemicals could be balanced to smell so transparent but also so intense at the same time. Allegedly a chance finding by Francis K when he was playing around with a three-way Jean Carles experiment.
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe it was the ambroxan, coz i found that a lot of perfumes that has this often have that “airy” feel. Giving the impression that its “fluffy” or cloud like or even fleeting but it’s definitely still there. This review is very interesting indeed
I really wanted to like initiatio perfumes because the hype was incredible but I found all of them like drinking a gin tonic with only half a shot of gin. Nasomatto on the other hand is like a double shot. I love your thought process around the volume filling chemicals, just very little substance to them.
Thanks for always commenting :) I like my scents potent in character even if I actually don't seek massive sillage. The Initio I tried are "big" but kind of empty.
Nasomatto's pod samples are truly awful, I ordered 3-4 samples, did a sort of "speed dating" test, and I put them aside (made sure the pods were facing up and tried sealing them. Little did I know, 2-3 days later when I wanted to sample them again, almost everything had evaporated. I should've transferred them into sample vials. Unlucky. Edit: Also really excited to see your breakdown of Fantomas.
@@banananaz674 yeah those official samples aren’t doing Gualtieri any favors. I get the unique look and cost savings but if I were to judge just from that… I would probably walk away.
Same thing happened to me with my Terroni sample. After that, I received a bunch of samples from Nasomatto and Orto Parisi and transferred all too themo sample vials; much better.
I love Blamage, however, I don't still know what about it but everytime I have tested it, even through samples, I perceive its smell for like 15-20 minutes and then I lose it on my skin or it disappears (?). Basically, I'm unable to perceive it at all after a while, except for something sweet sometimes but sweet without body or reference. Nevertheless, I can confirm people can still smell Blamage on me after a couple of hours. That's the main reason why I've not pulled the trigger on it. Every other Nasomatto works perfectly on me, but Blamage seems like it's a beast mode fragrance (many claim it's the strongest Nasomatto) that I struggle with It cause it appears I somehow get nose blind.
Both of the fragrances are excellent altho, i worn blamage only once, and i loved it. I prefer OFG over it, also, i prefer OFG over Haltane as well. I do get lots of lavander in OFG. Initio is not bad, they really do smell good. But it is a house for the begginers imo.
@@Principemostprincipe Initio is great but lacks depth and complexity, as you said: for beginners. The main issue to me is the inflated ego of these houses, pricing is subjective but it’s about the portrayed image. I like humble (although Amouage lately…)
I have the same problem with the compound. I personally cannot smell Baccarat Rouge Extrait. I can detect only the burn almond. Very frustrating this thing…
In both BR540 and oud for greatness you can find saffron which alot of people go noseblind to quickly, maybe in your case this note is even harder to pick up. As for sauvage maybe its the ambroxan, try prada luna rossa carbon and maybe compare the 2 so you can get a better picture of sauvage.
The point where you mentioned that the oud for greatness has the same empty element as baccarat rouge and sauvage is interesting. For me both oud for greatness and savage are quite strong and fully bodied - it's only in baccarat rouge which I genuinely feel the same emptiness and can't get much of the scent.
I honestly find Haltane far better then OFG. OFG is darker, spicier and denser than Haltane. But Haltane is also a bit sweeter (although Far from sweet), lighter and has a touch of citrus. Oud For Greatness Neo smelled like they tried to make OFG smell closer to Haltane. OFG Neo is better and more wearable, but ultimately, Haltane is better in my opinion. ❤❤👏🏼👏🏼

Initio Oud for greatness is good and so hyped but for some reason for me it is smell sour on clothes ..I am on the second bottle and tried so much to like it because of the hype..and every one like it in my family and friends..but it never worked for me.
Got a sample of OFG this week. Oh boy, thats a hard pass from my nose. In regard to Nasomatto, i cant decide between Pardon, Duro or Black Afgano….I have Terroni from Alessandro Gualtieris other brand and it is fantastic.
