Thanks for the reminder. I dread when a firmware update comes out. It's always a PIA and usually takes a few tries before it goes through. But fortunately the December 2021 is still the latest so I probably have a few months reprieve before having to do it again.
Tried to update my firmware on my PM5. It was too old to do wirelessly. Loaded onto the thumb-drive - but it still wouldn't work. Turns out the battery was around 55% - but apparently that's not enough. Once I replaced the batteries - it worked!
When you're checking the latest firmware on the Concept2 website, remember to match up the Hardware version. There are three different versions (right now) - so pick the one that matches YOUR machine.
I am really confused. I have a pm5. When I try to update via ErgData it says that it can wirelessly update yet it needs an update via the Concept2 Utility to enable this capability. What the heck? Can it do it wirelessly or not? Where is this option to allow wireless update in the Concept2 Utility??
I think your monitor doesn't yet have the firmware that will allow it to be updated wirelessly. A bit of a chicken/egg thing, I know. But if you go through the process on more time with the C2 utility, it should then allow you to do it wirelessly from then on.
I think PM3 will still outnumber PM5 if only when you think about all the gyms who bought one 20 years ago, and it haven’t been changed (or cleaned!) since. Part of the reason I asked though is just to find out how many people who care about firmware etc still use a PM3 or 4 - or is it just the PM5 people who want to stay up to date.
The ErgRace app can update the firmware over bluetooth, I am just doing the update now as I am participating at a race tomorrow. When entering a race, it notifies you of a new firmware version and there just click Details and Bluetooth update, there you go.. 21st century is coming :)
Thank you for a thorough and clear explanation on how to complete the firmware update.
Just received my PM5 retrofit kit yesterday. I will be installing it today.
You really are a legend 👍. Your row alongs are the best too. Keep it up👍
Thank you so much 😀
Thanks for this. Ergdata saying firmware out of date today and I remembered you had put an update video a few weeks ago 👍👍👍👍👍

That's a good tip. Hopefully someone else who watches this video will catch that.

Ah! Thanks for reminding me. I need to do an update!!!
You can’t update the firmware over Bluetooth! Must still use a flash drive!
