What annoyed me about Hogan is that even at his most super baby face popularity run his in ring move set always resembled that of a heel. Multiple closed fist punches. No selling. Back rakes. Eye pokes. It just didn't fit that all American baby face persona. Yet the fans were blinded by the bright yellow tights and premature balding.
I can imagine a lot of that was a holdover was from his years as a heel in Japan, AWA and even WWWF back in the day, I'm not sure but I think he started out as playing a heel so it was probably how he was trained.
Hogan was a product of the times. In Movies, Comic, TV shows, Cartoons, it was all the same of more flash, awe and spectacle. Most childhood heroes won a battle with 2-3 signature moves and that is all you wanted because you knew that was it. It got you excited and was simple fun. Now, storylines are more developed because we can experience all of the internets view of it. We can easily group together and analyse it meaning we now crave deeper levels and skill as spectacle and awe can't be discussed the same way
Scott is an interesting case of before/after. He was phenomenal athletically during his Steiner Brothers days, but then got hurt, got jacked and lost it.
@@bonedragon7665 I have tried to point out that very thing. He truly was great in the ring at one time. For some reason I think Steiner would have ended up with either a number great than 10 or negative because he was just that bad at Math.

Fun show! However, I feel like there is a little more to in-ring ability than just pure 'moves'. The famous ring-psychology, the ability to engage (with) the audience, to tell a story in the ring. All that is part of in-ring yet goes way beyond just moveset or execution.
What is required to be a great wrestler or great in ring wrestler? because each wrestler have different styles. its mostly big men who are labeled the worst wrestler, while the smaller wrestlers where more labeled the best wrestlers. We can't judge big and small wrestlers in the same light.
How does Sid get a 7 for promos? This guy is known for messing up on promos. He once told Kevin Nash. "You are half the man I am, and I have Half the brain you have." He also asked if he could restart a promo one time, and was told they where live.
He did have a great voice and cadence for doing monster heel promos, but the stuff he said didn't exactly help. Perfect tone, lame dialogue. Still, I laugh out loud when I hear him call Mean Gene a fat little oaf...
Sid was great for a crowd pop once a year. He was not good if he hung around for more than 10 minutes. Like if he only showed up for the Royal Rumble during the 90s, that would have been perfect.
No he wasn't either...he met Hogans agent at a basketball game and then met Hogan and Hogan was so enamored by his size that he immediately saw money signs as making him the son of andre the giant in storyline. Big show won the world title in his debut match and prior to that the only trading show had was running up and down the beach with Hogan and drinking beer afterwards for 2 weeks with hulk. Then they put him in the world title match after signing him to a 130,000 dollar a year contract which big show thought was amazing but he could have gotten at least 500k per year if he had known any better.

Maybe if he is talking about wrestling with addictions UW was better (or is that worse). That is about the only place I can see anyone have a legitimate argument. People may like his whole persona better, but his in-ring skills were pathetic.
Hey friendos. I would love Steve and Larson to watch some OSW review video podcasts on UA-cam and give their opinions Very nostalgic being an 80s child myself but also hilarious and educational. Bad language is a plenty tho but I'm an adult so I'm good. Sorry had to give a shout out to the OSW guys, they deserve more eyes on them. As always love the show and keep up the awesome work
i think that, because of OSW review, luger has had somewhat of a popularity renaissance. i personally love watching luger's matches just because of the way he sells (that is, VERY LOUDLY)
Luger has always been one of my favorite wrestlers. He did have a limited move set, but I just connected with him for some reason. And that was not Heenan.
If u look at a pic of Scotty Flamingo, Early Tommy Dreamer, and Surfer Sandman and look at a pic of them in their respective gimmicks that made their careers it's still surprising to me.
I loved Luger.Possibly my favorite wrestler. I don't know why. He was tied with Sting for me in my teen years. He just had something. I couldn't stand Ultimate Warrior. He is one of the reasons I switched from WWF. I don't think Lana is quite as bad a wrestler as people say. Not good, but is improving. Hogan gets a 1 Legacy from me. He has shown just about everything that is wrong with wrestling. Not sure how to fairly grade McMahon as he is so intertwined with the business as owner. Sid was an insane clown. If he had any control, he could have been great because of his look, but he was so mental that he always killed his own momentum, and almost Arn Anderson. Andre was simply the guy. He never needed a title as, well, just look at him. He was massive. As far as Goldberg is concerned, I got bored of him very quick. He did 2 things and had matches that lasted a hiccough. I get the look as it was amazing, but he just never connected with me. And as a wrestler, I think 0 may be too high. I did enjoy his promos though. I feel Nash should be about a 2 to 3 in the ring. I would say legacy of 7 as he was a foundation of the NWO. Add that to his promos and his great look plus his title run in WWF, he really was very high.
Lex Luger is a ringleader just watch his past performances! Just like Ted DiBiase in Survivor series 90/91, Luger versus Ron Simmons for the title shows exactly how much Luger really knows his stuff! You really need to know what it's like to call a match in real time just like Chris Jericho oh, Lex Luger has always done the same.

Surprised no Ahmed johnson because he was entertaining bad. Mediocre in the ring in his wwf days and had incoherently bad but funny promos. Had a decent look but once he left for wcw his wrestling promo and look some how got worst but still was a entertaining train wreck to watch especially if you hear stevie ray interviews on him forgetting spots.
Steiner was at times a 7 in the ring. He transformed himself from a bland character into Big Pappa Pump. As his charisma and promos got better, he left a lot of his skill behind, on purpose. And I would say Legacy is a 6 as he was part of one of the most decorated tag teams in history and considered to be the most technically sound of any team in the conversation. He was essentially Lesnar in his first run with WWE before Lesnar was a thing. And like Lesnar, he won national championships in college.
How is Scott Steiner not on this list? Was not a great worker, not a great talker just look at his math promo in TNA. Talk about guys legacies yet skip over the whole Sid stabbing Arn Andersen with scissors and how Luger used to beat Elizabeth and is widely blamed for her death. If you're gonna mention Hogan's racist and Warrior's overall assholeness then you have to talk about the other guys skeletons too.
This list was about people who are over, but were crap in the ring. Steiner has many flaws. His in-ring ability is not one of them. He could, and did do a ton of really good technical stuff. Then he went to WWF and he became just a power man. In WCW, he transformed into a power man, but could still wrestle.
Drunk Technical wrestler sounds like an amazing gimmick.

Warrior actually lost a couple of matches, Sgt. Slaughter and Rick Rude.
the look and the torture rack is why lex was good
