Princess Peach: Showtime does some interesting things with its theatrical setting. While playing the game, I sometimes can’t tell if I’m supposed to be saving a theater or if I’m just apart of a theatrical production. The NPCs seem to not know either.
Is this just a stylistic choice from the developers or does this speak to something bigger going on behind the curtain?

My fantasy is that Peach was so bored she paid a bunch of theatre kids to orchestrate an exciting adventure where she can be anything she's ever wanted to be.
While playing I was voicing her shouting "you're fired" anytime she'd lose a heart

There’s probably suppose to be no explanation to Grape’s motives. But this game really should answer WHAT is Grape. Because from what it seems she don’t look like a living creature at all.
Unless she’s the same species a Rayman, whose limbs are also separated ?

i put forth a similar theory in another video, as well as bemoaning the fact that i led myself into believing Grape would bring up the age-old debate of snobby rich folk believing tragedies to be the one true art form and surefire way to success, versus more light-hearted stories with happy endings making both performers and audiences happy.
and instead Grape being a generic one-note anime sadist who smashes other peoples dreams just for sick kicks. the sheer ego and hogging the spotlight quirk is pretty obligatory given the subject matter, so no complaints there.@@BergmitetheBlueandPointy0712

    - I agree with the author (of this video), only _I_ would add a twist to the ending where magic use used to create an actual, REAL villainess named Grape, and the magic creation is the one who destroys the theater. As for WHO creates the real Grape, I explain that even if Bowser was evil BEFORE the end for "Super Mario Odyssey", a sorceress comes in at this point and reveals that she made the reality this way so she could harvest the evil from all the Koopas affected, providing Bowser SENIOR is coming of age (ninth generation afectted). But it is Bowser JUNIOR (tenth generation afectted). So _too much_ energy links up to the creation of "Dark Bowser" from "Mario and Luigi" (Bowser's Inside Story) and creates a true Dark Bowser with powers duplicated from all the villains, past and present.
    - We then learn it is *Kamella* who did this, that she is really an emissary for the *Big Boo King*, and was manipulating the Koopa race _this whole time!_ But on the bright side, the koopas were NEVER evil to begin with, and the -real_ Bowser can join the heroes perminantly in fighting Dark Bowser / Smithy / Big Boo (who is really SATAN from the Famicom game "Devil World") / the NEMETOAD / etc. ...
    - NOW Bowser's just playing a part in the mainline games; but it is really DARK Bowser who, for example, merges himself with the Flower Kingdom castle. He did, after all, see it at the _old_ *Sparkle Theater* from _before_ "Princess Peach Showtime...

I would also like to believe that Grape is not a villain. Maybe she has a sad backstory or something. Maybe she's secretly the hero here. Maybe Peach humiliated Grape, so she's probably getting revenge on her. (My theories are so stupid)

I know you said its just a silly theory at the end of the video but:

-Peach fights all the major floor bosses off the theater stage.
-The theater literally gets destroyed at the end.

The act 3 levels are a bit trippy. I see them as advanced special effects.
I didn’t notice that the bosses are off the theater stage. They seemed as theatrical as the others.
The theater gets fixed after getting destroyed. It could have been a controlled demolition for the sake of showmanship. It’d be a great way to convince peach it’s real!

    • @TheGameCubicle
      @TheGameCubicle  2 місяці тому +5

She definitely could have had more of a motive. Like she was a failing actress who never got cast in the plays so she took the place over to put herself as the star

@@TheGameCubicle My idea is that she's a Darkle sprite. Stella says she's a Sparkle sprite and she has the power of Sparkle, so Grape, who is stated to have the power of Darkle, could be a Darkle sprite, a dark equivalent to Sparkle sprites, looking similar to Stella but with dark blue and purple colors.
When I first saw the cutscene before she sends the second boss at us, I realized how behind her mask and cravat could easily hide someone with Stella's shape.
And that's what I thought the game was going for, seeing how the hat, hair and dress aren't connected to her and could be accessories, while the real her would hide behind the mask and cravat. If they only showed her facing us, because from other angles we can see what's behind her mask.
But in the actual game, nothing is hiding there. There's just nothing, and it's a bit of a shame, because this would make sense with her possessing the power of Darkle and her design which could hide the fact that she's a Darkle sprite from the player until the end.
Not only that, but a good backstory comes pretty easily with that as well. Her difference compared to the Sparkle sprites as well as her ideas of big tragedies would have caused her to being rejected and ejected by the Sparkla and the Theet in general.
Alone, sad and angry, she would swear to get revenge on them, which is what we see in the game. Once she gained control of the theater, she would create the tragedies that they prevented her from creating and force them to play in them, which is not good.
And specifically for the Sparkla, who would be the protagonists of her tragedies (and we know it never ends well for the protagonists of tragedies). She would derive a sadistic pleasure from seeing these people who shunned her be the ones to struggle now.
Meanwhile Peach and Stella would enter these tragedies and use Sparkle and the transformations to help alter how they play out and create happy endings, which Grape would see as "ruining her beautiful tragedies".
And for the final fight, she would prepare the best tragedy she knows as the setting for her battle against Peach and Stella. And this tragedy would be none other than hers.
The set in which the final battle would take place would depict her backstory as the battle progresses, and after she's defeated, her clothes besides the mask disappear just like in the actual game, but unlike in the actual game, there would also be her actual self, a Darkle sprite, as she can't hide her true form anymore.
But it's not over, as she takes on her second phase form and destroys the theater (once again like in the actual game). Once defeated, Peach would show her kindness and willingness to forgive.
She would help her, and the Sparkla would come to apologize for the way they treated her, and they would propose to start over together, to which Grape, who still yearned for acceptance deep down, would accept.
Finally, Peach doesn't repair the theater immediatly. Instead, the credits scene would show the reparations, including Grape helping to rebuild since this is her fault and she wants to redeem herself.
It's a simple but effective narrative that wraps itself up neatly with a satisfying happy ending. That would that be infinitely more interesting, wouldn't it ?
And it also makes perfect sense with her design, the power of Darkle... as I explained earlier. Sadly we have none of that in the actual game.

@@Oceane1803your story is beautiful, but I think they decided not to redeem Grape because they want to make a sequel to this game (in which I hope there will be a more significant storytelling, general order of levels and in which each stage's story actually manages to pleasantly surprise the spectators/us)
