Beautiful tanks and fish! Pinky and Shelly are my favorites! Hmmm I wonder why? Great video and content keep up the hard work! Thank you for the video!
Thank you very much Shelly! I love the GG's too! I'm hoping to get a few more and be able to keep a group of them together some day (just the two don't get along) in a huge tank!
Woww never thought that would be easier nice video!! My giant gourami fell from 4 feet tank and bleeding thank god my gourami survive after 55 minutes travelling distance
they are so hardy, aren't they? 😭 once my giant gourami jumped when the lid of her tank was opened and survived a hard fall to the ground. she is currently two years old, now an adolescent 😭😭 this happened like last year
Was pinky always aggressive as a baby? I’ve had a baby red tail for 5 months and she lives with tetras and apistos and angels and I wonder when she’ll snap 😂 she’s probsbly 6-8” she just changed from the pointy face shape to the rounded.
He hasn't always been aggressive no it got worse as he got bigger. RTGG are known for being much better community fish. Out of all the GG's they're the best but slowest growers. The Grays are hit or miss with aggression and the pinks are known for being the worst and much harder to keep with others successfully
Thank you for getting back to me. I didn’t know any of those general stats about the types. The slower growth has been forgiving for me as I hoped to get by until this fall for her tank upgrade and so far she still has room in the 75g. Thanks again for teaching me something.
@@aquagirltalks479 you're welcome! I was surprised to learn that they had different personalities as well! I look forward to seeing the progress on your RTGG! I'm jealous I've always wanted a RT!
What is gonna use for if u gonna buy big tank then u gonna put any kind of plants and wood. If I have like that big tank I never put any thing just only a filters, so that my fish can swem wide of the tank, I see in video some of there tank have decorations.
My gray doesn't scratch but Pinky does because he tries to bite at the glass and scratches it with his teeth. He swims at people in front the tank. If yours aren't aggressive eaters like that you shouldn't have too much to worry about
I should have said acrylic. I moved him to the glass tank and he doesn't scratch the glass but he did a number on the acrylic 240 which I've since buffed and fixed
@@OffTheDeepEndAquatics did he scratch it all over the front panel, or a limited area? The reason I ask is because I have developed a way using aquarium magnets and fine sand paper to take out scratches on the inside of acrylic under water....
Do you live in the US? Just curious how cold your basement is, what kind of climate youre in. Do you heat your tanks with traditional aquarium heaters or warm the air in the basement? Reason I ask is I am buying a new house soon (slab foundation) and plan to build a 600-800 gallon tank similar to your 1100. Thinking ahead about how much it will cost me to maintain temperature and filter the tank.
Yes I'm in Massachusetts. After some additional insulating I've been able to keep the basement temp at 73 degrees without a heat source so I do just heat the tanks traditionally atm. I've been trying to figure out the best way to add an efficient heating system and just heat the room but I have a bunch of complications so I'm still trying to plan it out to be cost effective.
Off The Deep End Aquatics - Awesome! One of my favorite bands is Boston, I’m sure you’ve heard of them. If you don’t mind sharing your thoughts and experience on this idea of mine...the house I’m buying has a back room behind the garage off the kitchen, its tucked away in the back on the first floor of the house. Wife has given me full reign of that room. I’m thinking about copying your 1100 build except using your idea of coating all sides of all wood materials with rubber sealant. Then drywalling the frame of the tank, painting, baseboard molding, ect., so it looks built into the room. The tank could be 12ft wall to wall... probably use 8ft for fish swimming space and viewing panel, then conceal a sump on the side in the extra 4ft of space. Let me know your thoughts. Any ideas you have. PS - for heating your space. You can find used hvac systems on craigslist that work just fine but sell cheap and usually seller can do the install. Mini splits do a good job too for a decent price.
@@philipmorris6782 I think your idea would work great. Only thing I'd change is I'd make the sump smaller if possible and the tank bigger. Again if it's possible. If I understand your proposed dimensions correct you would end up having a sump half the size of the tank. Doesn't need to be so I'd go 10' long instead I think.
Off The Deep End Aquatics that would work. I have a 12’ room side to side to play with so i have to factor in the width of 2x4’s and plywood. I don’t plan on having a ton of fish, more along the lines of a few large fish. I have a red tail cat, tiger shovel, pacu, and a giant gourami atm. I’d like the inner dimensions of the tank to be at least 8ft side to side and 3.5ft front to back, if i can do 4ft front to back that would be even better. How big of a sump would you recommend? Sump be 25%-35% of tanks size?
@@philipmorris6782 actually I think I would do 9'x4' tank and 3x4 sump. Minus the width of the 2x4's like you said of course you get the idea. 25-35% sounds perfect but definitely depends on how the sump is setup and why type of media and turnover rate you get. Not always the size that matters
Smh cichlids are such big belligerent idiot fish. Lol They could have 500g theyll still fight. I did cichlids for over 20 years before i was just fed up with there aggression issues. It caused me to house them solo or in a pair's. That's coo your into grammi (i cant spell) mines about 26 inches 8 plus lbs. Ive had him 6 years now. Your fish rooms coming along.
Love Pinky's face when he finds himself in his new tank
It's the same face different tank
Nice job catching it with the pillow case 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎉
Awesome! Btw the sand part was super satisfying lol!
Lol! Thanks dude
No problem! Can’t wait to see what’s next!
Love how you have your filtration setup under the stairs like that
You are really great to make it grow this big
Everything is looking great man. Well done on the 220 especially!
Thank you very much!
Awesome video as always
Thank you!!
Wow so nice.

Yessss!!! Tap that sand! 👏🏽😍
I'll do it some more too
I really love your fish room man...you are lucky to have have a portion of your house reserved for your dear fishes,.
Nice job

Tell me more about how pinky scratched your acrylic? I just bought four red tailed Giant Gouramis for or my 500 acrylic bowfront and this concerns me

I literally just met a giant gourami who's name is Pinky. I had been thinking of maybe getting one, but he sold me to do it.

To all the whiners... I usually dump my sand without rinsing... AND usually my fish are still in the tank when I do it.
