You and your family are lucky in more than one way. I would like to offer a tip to keep your bikes or removable batteries outside the house, inside a shed or outbuilding not connected to the house.
With the best technology, we have things can still tend to have a mind of their own which can lead to disasters.
Other than that and great video and congrats for the new bike, even though I think the company got lucky and this was quite a small compensation, to be honest, and it's just my opinion 😉

Onyx did right by your buddy, but not until he reached out several times and after many months. If your friend didn't push the issue they wouldn't have done anything. I was actually thinking of buying one of these bikes but now this makes me second guess myself. But then again, how many of these fly by night e-bike companies would have done the same thing?
Yeah it's hard to say you have to be careful with some of these companies the main issue is the battery that's where everyone wants to take shortcuts because that's where the money is I would stick with main stream companies like Ariel Rider, lectric, super 73 etc then you have some recourse or something goes wrong
IMO onyx is a good deal if you get it 2nd hand but brand new its really not.

On your ebike have you had an issue when you give it throttle the whole bike shuts off; any auggestions?
Hello I only have that issue when the battery is low and I give it full throttle it will shut down. There are a few things to check obviously make sure the battery is fully charged for a 72 volt it should be about 84v if that checks out okay I would look at the BMS settings also if your motor is binding (excessive load) it will also cause that issue make sure the back wheel spins free
I feel like I tried everything; if I lift wheel off the floor everything works fine no issues but when I put it under load/get on the bike boom shuts off
