Having just seen it, I agree with pretty much everything. I didn’t find any of it boring, but I said the same about the pacing. Like it just meanders along and I really feel like a lot of that was around the character of Thomas. So many scenes of him confused, the various groups of people he encountered and the castle scenes were not as elaborate. Although I do think he tried to capture the essence of the 1922 film in that way, with all the shadows and only seeing glimmers of light through doorways etc. But I think the way it just lingered a bit too long there, where as you mentioned the 1992 movie, the castle scenes are very interesting to watch and we see pretty much the same exact thing happening in both films. I didn’t enjoy the moustache - but I agree with Dom, it goes with that time period of Germany and Eastern Europe so it does make sense but it was very off putting.
Overall though I really liked it, despite the pacing. I loved the whole look of it, the gothic feel, the set design, costumes and darkness.
Walking out of the cinema it was all foggy and it felt really spooky 😅

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Honestly, maybe I need to re-watch to see if my mind is changed a bit. I usually like meandering movies but the story for me has been done to death. The visuals were stunning though!- Kiren

I think my biggest issue was it just wasn’t what I was expecting, not that I had a lot of expectations just thought it might be something different.
