Index 5 and 7 injectors still sort of working?! Wow! I had a whole set of index 11 and just found 3 had bad leaks so i ordered some index 12s. Huge difference and wish i had figured it out sooner. Had issues starting for a while but great tip about where to upgrade to an dme81 in case i want to do that in the future.
Amazing how much the electronic gremlins almost outnumber the mechanical issues!! Great video as always! Looking forward to the injector and spark plug project.
Very nice Chris. When you do have 2 sorts of injectors, you have to make sure every bank has the same index injectors. So for example bank 1 only index 5, and on bank 2 only index 7. Very important rule. And don't forget to change the injector seal and couplers., when moving the injectors to and another cylinder. Good luck. Dutch regards, Nico.
A dme is expensive, I'd recommend checking out the car mechanically before replacing a module. You cna always move injectors around to make sure that it's not just a bad injector in the first place. Hope that makes sense!
Hey enjoy your videos I just got my FIRST 08’ BMW 535xi having issues with my ECU DME module I guess they ‘swapped’ the computer before registering it Has a different VIN on it Can I program it without having the original one ?
IF the engine/transmission configuration is the same, it should start the car and let you drive it, but you will get errors on the dashboard from the "coding" not matching.
question i just did a new head and head gasket on my engine i put it back in my car, now the car wont start it turns over when i engage the starter but it just spins the engine it doesnt seem to want to start. i connected mhd wire adapter to the obd2 port and it says mhd could not communicate with dme. do you think a bad ground will cause it to crank but not start and have no communication with the dme? do you think my dme bricked itself and i have to get a new one? :o
I would try a normal diagnostic scanner, not just your mhd app, and see if the DME communicates, or has codes. If the rest of the car modules communicate but not the DME, you have a problem. Otherwise, sounds like it could just be something you forgot to connect when you put it back together! Good luck!
Keep the cover and cabin filter off yes. Its perfect when u find perfectly water falls perfectly into cylinder 6. So it wont matter what u do. Evertime plug will be wet. So use the plastic coz even washing the car and game over lol and gently blow the water out and cover the shit up
You can probably get the car started with the new cas, key, dme, but in order for the car to "accept" the new modules, you need to code the car and make sure the VIN matches all the modules. Something you can hire someone to do for you. Could be related to your instrument cluster issue.
Yes, and you should do the upgrade! Also, if you have an 07, look into retrofitting the oil cooler from 2008 models and forward, it helps the motor run cooler!

Beat Bimmer UA-camr in the world so educated about here cars!
finally you knew what's going on with this car, good work buddy
Thanks Bchara!
I have the same problem. and I do not know what to do.
the injectors are the issue now, definitely need to upgrade those injectors.
generally speaking with DME fault codes would you recommend resolving the computer issues first prior to attempting to make any changes mechanically?

No, the programming and board is too different. You'd need another MSV70 if yours failed
