Another year, another list. From what I understand Kao the Kangaroo is huge in Poland (supposedly) so at least one country cares either way I hadn't known this game existed until I saw it in the top 10 best sellers for platformers on the Xbox Store one day.

I will just never understand the idea that the cyberspace levels have "bad controls", it feels like something one or two youtubers said at one point and everyone jumped into that ideology. Are they different? Yeah, but they are responsive, the steering is less sensitive but not really restricting unless you are boosting, which is by design and you shouldn't be expecting to turn 180 degrees in two meters while boosting, or even in 200. The levels are mostly corridors with obstacles so it really doesn't come into much effect. The restrictive steering only gives you more optimal control over steering specific amounts of left/right. While in the overworld you have like 20 different degrees of steering since it's open and exploring is crucial, the cyberspace levels where you are pretty much intended to steer in a 45 degree cone for the entire experience, you are given control over each single degree. It's different, not bad. Light speed dash, leveling speed/rings are things I can agree with, especially since lightspeed dash grinds you to a halt for no reason. I *really* like jumps cancelling momentum as it works both as a break and a jump at the same time. If you have ever played any platformer then you know the reflex you get when you have screwed something up always being the jump button. And now instead of launching yourself to the abyss for that reflex, you actually get saved by it. And if you want to keep going at fast speeds in midair you always have the boost button.

Possibly. I'm going to give both games time to simmer and maybe in a year or two I'll revisit them both together.

What a great review! Admitting a game isnt for you is such a great quality and the way you go into detail about it is impressive! Some of the games you said you didnt like, you explained so fairly why they werent for you I got excited about and are now in my to play list!!
You speak very eloquently but I cannot figure out the name of "Honorable mention 2" :/ It would be beneficial if you could add the written name of the game somewhere ( like in the corner of the video or in the description)
